| today i learned the meaning of rickrolledwell lets see, I've been back in the states for almost a week and a half and life just seems to continue where I left it off so long ago. I got home friday night and proceeded to sleep until about 4pm the next day. I hung out with some friends for about 3 hours then went back to bed :) And then on sunday I headed up to camp with some friends to visit the people working there for the summer. It was nice because it was during staff training so there weren't any campers yet. Camp was as great as it always is. I got to spend a lot of time with Reo, I don't think he remembered me much, but maybe a little because every time I went to catch him in the pasture i had to chase him down. It was weird going to camp and not BE at camp for the summer. There were so many new horses and new faces. A brief synopsis of the 3 days I was there: riding, eating, riding, sleeping, eating, riding, eating, 5 mile riding, a little eating, haying, camp variety show, night riding, sleeping, eating, riding. needless to say- i was sore, and i had a nice hay burn. but me an steph had to duck out kind of early- which was sad. i had to go get my 3 shots for africa and steph had to work. Of course the ranch staff had decided to play a rousing game of Capture the Flag (on horseback of course) the same time we needed to go- big bummer. hopefully I'll get to participate when i'm up there in July.
Ok so after that I dont remember what I did, but then me and Keni had our own disney movie party and a surprise call from paul had us going into town...("Into Town?" where am I from? the BOONIES? I live in Edina for goodness sake! I'm always 'in town!') to see Kung Fu Panda- hilarious by the way. then the next day was the greatly anticipated 'Deck Party 08.' It was so great just lounging around with friends- playing a little Bocce, watching movies, plus 8 bags of chips and 6 dips- mmm fantastic.
Of course in between all of these fun times I'm at home bored out of my mind, parents are nagging, and i'm slipping back into my old ways... i try to explain to people what i did in australia but there is just so much i get tired- so now i mostly just keep it all inside until allie and sanna get back and we can talk about it. hearing about it and experiencing it are two completely different things. so its hard for me to simply 'talk about australia' not because i dont want to, just exhausted in trying to make people understand.
ok so now its 4:30 am- i just havent been tired- here and 7:30 pm back home in australia :( BOTH my parents have come down to yell at me to go to bed like i'm 15 again even though i have nothing to do tomorrow except drive down to luther. yup. LUTHER. i'm so excited!!! there worried about me driving- i'll be fine though. I'm fine driving in the day. besides, i don't plan on leaving until the afternoon anyway. well, 12. they don't know i drove 15hrs straight through the night down to Georgia last year. i won't tell them. just give me a little loud music and the windows rolled down and i'll be in heaven. and no parents for a couple days is icing on the cake.
| leaving on a jetplanethis is one of the hardest weeks. these are the worst goodbyes. i'm gonna miss this place.

| I've been through the desert on a horse with no name/ it felt good to get out of the rain"On the first part of the journey I was looking at all the life There were plants and birds and rocks and things There was sand and hills and rings The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz And the sky with no clouds The heat was hot and the ground was dry But the air was full of sound " -America
so this is a good detail of my day. I WENT RIDING!!!! yay! it was great. My horse's name was Kazz, he was a dun clydesdale cross. so cute! I went with my roommate CC and her horse was named Brave- Kazz's half brother. Our guide was a 21 yr named Jess (snowy river?) and the other person on our ride was Duna (?) who was a superstar actor in Holland I guess. I was in the back so I couldn't hear. And Jess actually was a pastor at a church as her other job, so that was pretty cool. In the beginning of the ride when we heard the thunder, she told us that they always pray over the horses and pray for safety- that was really cool :) Kazz was great, slow and kind of unresponsive just like a good trail horse :) It was supposed to be a ride on the beaches and the sand dunes for advanced riders involving trotting and cantering on the beach. sounds fantastic, right?
The ride was really fun until about 10 minutes in when the huge drops of COLD rain started to fall. Then the hail soon to follow. Our ride was 2 hours long and the weather was wet to say the least. We ended up trotting a little in between the dunes, so we didn't get hit by the lightning. yes. LIGHTNING. The storm was pretty huge. I was quite nervous, actually. Being in the open and all- surrounded by water...Kazz was the only horse slightly nervous, otherwise he was really good. I have never hear thunder that loud before in my life. It was surround sound too. The bolts were huge and just over the hill on the ocean. At one point I looked and 4 or 5 huge bolts hit the ground at the same time over the whole horizon- that was a little nerve racking. We encountered some quicksand- but the horses pointed it out so we didn't get stuck in it- horses are so smart. We did canter a little up a sand dune- that was fun, but not because a loud crash of thunder happened at the same time so it was more of a spook for Kazz and I, Jess realized that going fast up the dune to the top was probably a bad idea with the lightning, so we went back down. We basically spent the last hour trying to get back to the trailer. By that time though it had been raining hard for a while- we were very very wet, like soaked socks and water-sitting-in-the-pants kind of wet. The lagoons in between the dunes had grown in size and I thought that we were going to be marooned on the open dunes without shelter for a while. The lightning was pretty much on all sides of us now, so we made a very large back tracking loop and the horses only had to go in knee deep water. We made it back, I thanked Kazz profusely, and then we had a 45 min bus ride home in our wet clothes. I don't think my roommate had much fun, but I kinda did. hmm. imagine that.
| my second fall break this year...Sorry that the weather is so crappy right now for most of you back home. I'm really enjoying the weather here today- its like a typical fall day back home, sunny and chilly. mmm. love it. the past two weeks (conveniently the same as our break) has been raining the whole time! agh. It was too bad we went camping for 7 days. oh well. The beginning of the trip was rough for me- I had a lot of those down days I seem to be getting more often then not. I was just getting sick of meeting new people and feeling like I have to try...and considering I new 3 out of the 7 other people there, I was a little out of my comfort zone...things got better once I stopped moping...ugh... I really need to work on that. So getting back to fluff- we kept ourselves pretty busy during the days- so the weather didnt bother us too much. We drove up the coast and camped at Crescent Head (about 4 hrs north of newcastle) for 2 nights. That was the best weather we had the whole trip- nice and warm and really clear skies for stargazing at night. It was beautiful there. Most everyone else in our group went surfing or swimming, I just read. but that was really nice. After Crescent Head we went north 4 more ours to Ballina (where a teenager had just died from a shark attack) then the weather got really crappy and rained off an on (like every 15 mins?) for the next 5 days. The nights were the longest because it would get dark around 6:30...needless to say, I got bored. We ended up going to Byron Bay a few times and up to an amusement park. I can't remember what else we did...it must have been memorable.
Then we went home for about 4 days and then off again for ULTIMATE NATIONALS! now that was a good time. It was in Coffs Harbor and the first day was sunny and nice. we won our first game 15-6 I think (it was a popular score for us this weekend) and then lost our second game

in other news: tomorrow I'm going on a 1.5 week camping trip up the coast with Allie, Sanna and some other people. I'm not sure if i'm looking forward to it. i kind of wish I could just stay at home by myself. oh well. we're going to an amusement park and hiking up mountains. so i think i will have fun. i just wish we were leaving a little later than 5am tomorrow (grr) we are also camping at a beach where a teenager recently (a few days ago) was attacked by a shark and died. don't worry, i'm not going in at all.
lets be honest here, I'm excited to come home...
I miss my dog and horse :(
