  • My Heart Greatly Rejoiceth

The Lord is my refuge and my strength.  A very present help in trouble.  He is the lifter of my head.  He is faithful to provide for our every need.  Although, I am not a widow, I am without my husband for 9 days.  This week, Tom is in Belize.  He is on a missions trip with the youth of our church and will be gone until the 4th of August.  This is the longest we have ever been apart since before we were married.  Tom is my best friend.  There will be very little if any communication directly from Tom or from anyone else for that matter.  So, there is no consulting about discipline or training of the children.  There is no visiting with him to see how his day went or sharing about my day.  God is my husband and He is the Father to our children.  The kids and I sang a few songs yesterday while we did the dishes.  One of yesterday's verses was "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)  Another verse, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him." (Psalm 28:7)  God is faithful and full of grace and mercy.  Thank you, Lord, for your unfailing love and kindness and grace.

  • Our Trip

We had a great trip.  There were many firsts for us.  Our first year with a girl in COMMIT and choir and student sessions.  Our first year with a son in ALERT Cadet program.  Both of those were highlights for us.  I would say this was the first year we really enjoyed Family Viewing.  It was also our first year not to come straight home afterward.  We took our time getting home and it was wonderful.

After we had brunch at a friend's house (til 3:00 pm) we drove to Hebron, Kentucky to the Creation Museum.  WOW!  We would recommend spending at least two days there.  Everything they did is first class.  There is a mixture of multi-media exhibits and diagrams, diaramas and a cross-section of what Noah's Ark may have looked like.  Some explanation of how they would have built it (tools and techniques).  While we were there we discussed a few things with the kids about the exhibits.  For instance, how coal beds were formed.

We decided we needed to talk to our church staff and plan a church trip to the Museum for Biblical Creation education of our congregation.  So many of the teens are so indoctrinated by evolution.  The Museum provides such great visuals and the truth from God's Word.

They have seven different points of progression...

    1. Creation
    2. Corruption
    3. Catastrophe
    4. Confusion
    5. Christ
    6. Cross
    7. Consumation

It was one of the highlights of our trip and we would definitely recommend it.  For large families the Yearly Family membership is a good idea.  You can go two days now.  Then go another two days before it expires.  Or as often as you can.  We plan on going again before our trip to Nashville next year.

  • I am new at this blogging thing so please bear with me while I figure out how to do this.

I am a Christian wife of one husband and homeschooling mother of 6 children.  My husband and I are dedicated to raising children who are mighty in God's spirit, who love God with all their heart, able to hear His voice, and follow Him fearlessly.

May you be encouraged to walk daily with the Lord.

  • Hi everyone! I'm just getting started on Xanga... Drop me a comment if you've got some ideas on what to do first - or just to say, "Hi!" :-)
