Differing from past seasons, American Idol 2008 has allowed instruments into the competition, completely changing the game. Singer/songwriter types that were once afraid their voices were not good enough for Idol tried out, leading us to finding instrumental talents such as Brooke White and Jason Castro.

David Cook, who previously released an indie album with his ex-band, Axium, and followed with a solo album, truly has it all. Simply by watching his performances to date on Youtube (http://youtube.com/user/WeakerSide), it becomes very apparent that his dominant stage presence goes beyond just the singing. David Cook has managed to rearrange every assigned song to his liking, somehow magically tweaking the innards to showcase his stylistic strengths, both instrumentally and vocally. In the words of Simon, taking such risks is the "sign of a great potential artist."

But what makes an idol or artist great is not only the way he conducts himself onstage, but also how he does off it. David Cook is poised, intelligent, and therefore well-spoken. David Archuleta, the other contender in this competition, simply does not know how to manage mass media, continually being bashful and throwing out annoying "goshes" and "geezes" during his interviews. This was "cute" at first, but I think by now the general populace has moved on and is loking for someone reliable that will represent their fandom maturely and tactfully. David Cook has shown extreme adeptness in this regard.

I predict that David Cook will not only win American Idol, but will also sell more records (digital and traditional) than any other previous Idol contestant.

I know this is old news, but I have to continue showing support for the one artist that I've followed since the beginning of her already impactful and illustrious career. She continues to be the reigning queen of soul and R&B by consistently pushing the boundaries of the genre. Watch the above clip to understand exactly what it is about Alicia Keys that keeps me coming back to see her live again and again.
