| Mistakes and MisunderstandingsSo we all make mistakes. We don't mean to, but they happen all the same. And doesn't it also seem that the big ones happen when the most people who could ever possibly, conceivably be present to witness it sponteniously show up? (if you can testify give up a big "amen")
I made a mistake, just recently in fact. A public mistake. I won't give any specifics of what was done due too a still all-too-recent feeling of embarrassment on my part, but let's just say that on a certain morning last week I woke up in the wrong decade...and everybody knew it.
. What does this expression really mean? I've seen it done in a variety of ways by so many different people in different situation that I'm thoroughly confused as to its true meaning.
A guy winked at me...soo..what am I supposed to make of it? It wasn't a normal "hey, how's it going?" wink. It was an overt "here's lookin' at you and only you, kid" kind of wink. One of my second grade boys winks at me all the time, but he must have eye spasms or something because his technique is off and his little eye lid moves at speeds upwards of 90mph. Plus, when I wink back at him, teasingly of course, he looks at me like I'm crazy.
Although I have yet to decode this confusing gesture, I in no way disapprove of its use. If used correctly, it is a great method of communication. I enjoyed being the recepient of a wink, it made me smile. So wink at some one today and bring a smile to some one's face, (or a look of disgust and confusion- wink carefully) |
