| | Happy Holidays!
It's Christmas time again! Is everyone on a shopping frenzy? Just a reminder and a story to share:
I was listening to the radio tonight (AM 1480) and I heard a very touching story. Two children were at a department store. The boy is about 5 years old. The girl is a little younger. They are brother and sister. The little boy's clothes are worn and torn. The little girl's hair looks as if she hasn't washed it for days. They are both waiting on line to pay. The girl is clutching a pair of golden embroidered slippers in her hands. When she approaches the cashier, she carefully places the slippers on the counter. The cashier rings up the slippers - $6.20. The little girl places some crumbled dollar bills on the counter and reaches into her pockets for any remaining change she could find. She counts the money and realizes she has just a little more than three dollars. Her brother then says, "We'll come back another time." The little girl replies, "But I know Jesus will like these slippers", and does not wish to go. At that moment, the woman behind them offers to pay the remaining $3. She asks them why they want to buy these slippers. They reply, "Dad says Mom will be leaving for heaven. They have heard about a golden road in heaven. Their mom will look beautiful in those golden slippers walking along the golden road."
Please remember, Christmas is about so much more than presents. |
