| | What Is a Best Friend.....?
Something has been lingering in my mind, and that is this question "What is a Best Friend?"
Firstly, let me point out that in order for something to be the "best,"
there can only be one. It's akin to the word "greatest." It's not
possible to have two people be the "greatest" at something, therefore
one can only have ONE Best Friend. But I asked myself, what really IS a best friend? and I came up with some things, that make a person a best friend.
First: Distance -- A Best Friend needn't live next door, although
he/she can, that always helps but we do have the warning "Familiarity
Breeds Contempt" to work on, but thats a discussion for another time. A
Best Friend, I believe can live anywhere in the world....and so
distance isnt too too big a factor.....but before you get mad, read on
Second: The Mindset -- Best Friends, need it be stated? Must concur
(agree) that they are indeed each others best friend. Third:
The Unspoken -- It must be mutually known, that romantic affection
shall not enter into a best friend relationship, as long as it is to
retain it's title of "best friends" for once romance pops into the
equation, Best Friend becomes merely a disguise to hide something
more.... Fourth:
The Stereotypes -- Best Friends musnt follow any type of stereotypes.
Two people may be best friends even if they dont share ever tiny secret
ever....its not a law that certain things must be done in order to
achieve best friendship. Lastly:
The Way -- A Best Friend, someone who is always there for you, someone
who loves you no matter what, someone who in essence accepts you for
who you are. If any of us can find ONE person, not related to us, that
can be there in our times of need, share our joys, and shed tears with
us, then that person is Truly Blessed. But I would say, that in order
to be best friends, a degree of Closeness, not found in ordinary
friendships must be achieved. I can not explain how to get there,
(besides reccomending sincerity like no other) and I cannot describe
it, but once it hits, you will know it is exactly what you've been
seeking for. I
have been blessed to have acquired and retained a Best Friend, and I
would say that each and every person should strive to have a best
friend because that, added with an Omnipresent God, Family that Cares
and Normal Friends, is one of the key things that can make life worth
living "Friendship is one mind in two bodies." - Mencius
