| Well, I'm home. And it's my birthday today. Birthdays are always rather anti-climactic.... you're always so excited leading up to them and then when they finally get there, it's like "yay. I'm another year older." And then I go out to eat and hang out with my family. And open presents. I'm really pulling for a guitar this year... in fact I didn't ask for anything else... so I'll keep you updated. There is a box of unusual size in wrapping paper in the front closet.....
Anyway, being home is weird. In a good way. It's just that I'm out in the middle of nowhere again.... but I can drive! There are upsides. I've seen the new house as well, the one on the lake, and it's a fixer-upper. Well, it hasn't been updated since the 70s when it was built, other than new carpet and fresh paint (both good things). However, the views of the lake are spectacular (we own the house and a lot next to it as well) and we have tons of lake frontage. And it won't be too hard to update the house either, just money that we won't have after we buy it. But it's a cool house, or has the potential to be, and I'm excited for it.
Well, we're showing the house again today. Still haven't had a chance to unpack. I miss all my friends from Mexico.... and I have to clean. Not good feelings.....
Happy birthday to me..... going to Red Robin tonight for my dinner!

| Life experiencesYesterday was Labyrinth Day. Sarah made it her life's mission that I should watch this movie (a Jim Henson movie, with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly- pure 80s) before leaving Mexico. And last night, that came true. It was pretty sweet. VERY 80s. The music, the clothes, the special effects... everything. It was pretty awesome. Sarah suggested making it an 80s night by watching The Princess Bride as well, but Amanda had hw and Wess and Liam were both falling asleep. So, another night for that enjoyment.
In good news, I'm done with my Tues/Thurs classes! The last day of class is Wednesday, but we don't have class on Tuesday, thus making yesterday the last day of class for those. I was excited not to have class at 8:30 anymore... but alas the final is next Thursday at 8:30 am. Boo. That means I have to get cracking on that final project....
Tomorrow is my big party. I'm really excited. There are 32 confirmations on Facebook, but a couple people can't come because of travel plans, which is fine. I knew that would happen. Plus 25 maybes. Crazy! I never thought that I had so many friends!
You love me! You really, really love me!

| Three late nights...
Well, as the title suggests, I've had three late nights in a row. As
in not getting back until 2 am or later. Last night was the latest.
Here's what I've been doing with my third-to-last weekend in Mexico:
Saturday:
Went into Puebla and did some much needed souvenir shopping at the
tourist market. I managed to get a ton of it done, which made me very
happy. Unfortunately, I ran out of money so I couldn't get it all done
(also some of the things I wanted to buy are better found at the
Fayuca, so that put a damper on things too). After getting back from
that, I was exhausted, but I had a birthday party for my friend Hannah
to get to, and so I dyed my hair quickly (it needed to be done) and got
ready for a night out. So I was at Tiki for a few hours, hanging with
all my bestest friends, having Farid and Wess tell me that northern
girls are all cold and distant and them giving me tips on how to warm
up... and just in general having a good time. Except that their
blender was broken, which meant no strawberry daiquiri... I was bien
deprimida about that. After Tiki, Amanda and I were killing time
before going to Triangulo to see a movie for Kate's birthday (it was
just everyone's bday!) so we went over to Bambukos with Farid, Maya,
Adha and another guy and Jonathan and Wess showed up just as we were
leaving. But we got to Triangulo and found that the movie times had
changed. So we went over to the Tochitos party (fundraiser) that a lot
of people we knew were at. It was bien chido AND they had ice cream
shots, which I'd never heard of before and were delish. I only had
one. I'm not a drunk. So I hung out there for a looooong time, mostly
with Farid, Amanda and Wess. Then left slightly before 2. End
Saturday.
Sunday: Filled with typical Sunday stuff. I went to
church with the people from CV and then out to lunch at Angelopolis.
Got back here, tried doing homework, that didn't go so well, but I
finished my translation. Was bored out of my mind from staring at my
computer screen for 4+ hours, so I texted Wess. Ended up hanging out
with him, Juan, Hugo and Panda (real name: Jorge) at Juan's house. We
had tacos for dinner and then rented Anchorman. They all wanted to
watch Jackass 2, but I vetoed that... I'll watch dumb comedies but
there is a line that I draw. After that, we went back to the house and
Amanda and Cody were hanging out and we found that The Patriot was on
and watched that for quite some time. Got back to the dorm at 1:45.
Monday:
Filled with typical Monday stuff. Class, homework, lunch, more class,
more homework... then Bible study for gringas at the house, followed by
the Song of Solomon study (which is quality material) and then went to
La Suprema for dinner. After that, Amanda and I went back to the house
b/c Wess had a DVD of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival that
sounded pretty sweet to watch... so we hung out at the house for a long
time, we didn't start watching the DVD until like 11:30. But it was
OK, I got to chill with Amanda and Sarah, two of my favorite girls in
the entire world, and I got to watch Grey's Anatomy- an episode I
hadn't seen... and I cried. As is usual with me and Grey's. Then we
all went upstairs to watch the DVD and it was QUALITY. There was some
amazing guitar playing on that... AMAZING. We're talking Eric
Clapton, Santana, BB King, ZZ Top, James Taylor, John Mayer, Johnny
Lang, Robert Randolph, Joe Walsh... bien chido. Except that Clapton
didn't play "Layla" and Wess skipped over "I Shot the Sheriff" because
it was long and we were all falling asleep... Well, I was. Anyway, it
was freakin' sweet, and if you have the chance to check it out and like
quality guitar playing (QUALITY) you've gotta!
Tonight could
be another late one... it's the Banquete de Despedida (Goodbye Banquet)
tonight at CV and who knows how long I'll be hanging there. I'm
wearing my cocktail dress that I bought here (my little black dress
) and living it up. That's for sure. And there's no way that it'll be
the last time I'm at the house this semester. No way.

| Home StretchSo... we're in the home stretch now! I head home in about 22 days. Unbelievable. Tonight is the last En Vivo, which makes me very, very sad. Thinking about life without El Pozo and all the wonderful people at the Casa Verde just makes me triste, muy triste.
Last week was... good. Lots of me slacking off because I'm never motivated the week after break. Also, more staying out late than I had planned on. I stayed out until about 2 AM on Tuesday after En Vivo just talking and hanging out with some of my best buds at CV, and then stayed out until about 1:30 am the day after. We went to see "Tirador"(AKA "Shooter") with Mark Wahlberg, and it was OK. Not one of my favorite movies, but not one of the worst movies ever made, either. So got back from that at 12:30 and then stayed out and talked to people. Saturday was my friend Jess's birthday party (her bday was yesterday), and we went out to Bambukos and then to Mojito's for dancing. It was crazy fun! Mojito's was a leetle crowded and I kept crashing into people dancing, but I still had an amazing time. Saturday is Hannah and Lulu's birthday party at Tiki, so it'll be another crazy fun time. I'm also trying to plan something to do as a last bash before everyone leaves (and a pre-birthday bash for me!), and I think it'll work out. I'm pretty excited, but just a little worried about finals getting in the way. But I think that it'll turn out well. I didn't realize how many amazing friends I'd made here until I was trying to tag them all on Facebook so they'd respond to my note... and I reached the max number of tags and hadn't been able to tag nearly everyone. So then I felt bad for leaving people out... but c'est la vie, no?
I'm really excited to go home. Not excited to leave all of my amazing friends, but I miss home and I miss my family. Now I am cranking Virgin Radio UK b/c Lara has her crazy crazy music cranked. Commercials are better than that.

| So... I have returned alive and intact from the Semana Santa Road Trip of Awesomeness. I think it's amazing how I've made so many close friends in such a short amount of time! The road trip was one of the best times ever, even thought it was a lot of driving. Well, riding in the van, but same difference, right? Puerto Vallarta was really cool, though it was really strange to hear large amounts of English being spoken. Probably the best moment for me was the first day of the trip, when we stopped at Valle de Bravo and rented a speedboat. It was sooooo much fun. The rest of the trip was amazing as well, but that was probably the highlight for me. But it was good to just relax and have fun with awesome friends. I enjoyed myself immensely.
Speaking of speedboats, my parents recently acquired a speedboat. SWEET, I say. I'm so excited to be able to use that this summer... laying out in the bow... learning to waterski... plus jetskiing... All I have to say is, if you want a good time this summer, just gimme a call!!! I love visitors! My parents have also told me that they found a house on a lake that they really like (it looks pretty nice from the pics I've seen) and they had a realtor come to appraise our house. This is the most serious they've been about a house yet. It needs a little updating, but all in all it looks like a pretty nice place. Plus, it's on one of the biggest and nicest lakes in the area. So if that goes through, even MORE reason for EVERYONE to visit me.
Well, that's about it. I've been procrastinating immensely on my homework that I have. I really don't want to do it. I should get cracking on my translation, just to have that done and out of the way. Don't have that class this week, and I'm still in spring break mode, so I REALLY don't want to do anything.
Happy Easter, everyone!
