I know you're crushed and will miss me, but it's time and God has way more important things for me to do! Call me, come see me - it's so much better in person anyway! May God richly bless each and every one of you!

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

The house seems so quiet after the hustle and bustle of everyone here. My in -laws, Thorne home, and his friends over. Yo, Thorne, Alex and Jordan I miss you! Rane and his friends were here. So now it's down to just Rane, Kiah, and me during the week. Miss the noise factor. Maybe I shouldn't say that or Rane will be upping the volume on his amp! Thorne should be home in about 3 wks. so that should add more of his friends! Cool, his sophomore year and Rane's sophomore year are almost done!!! Which means I'll be done too!! And summer will be here!

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Kiah has managed to lose another pound. This with eating 3 meals per day & the vet upped her midday meal to 3/4 of a cup with potato 2 weeks ago. She is back to 44 lbs - which was what she was at after 10 days on chicken and rice. Something is haywire in her, but I'm not worrying too much about it, becasue she has a lot of energy - whoa, enough to spare! - and she looks good. I had her at the vet today because she has had 2 accidents in 4 days and because she had upper body tremors right after that this morning. They did a urine culture, but it's not showing bacteria, so they sent it to a lab that will do a more extensive diagnosis. I should find out the results tomorrow. It could be something as small as incontinence ( who knew dogs had that??) or something as big as kidney problems. I prayed over her today that it wouldn't be diabetes and it isn't. There isn't excessive protein in her urine, so Praise God for that!

Man, can you say how unfair life is when a dog, a mere dog, can lose weight without even trying!

Thursday, March 29, 2007

I've had 3 whole days to myself!! Just Kiah and me, while Rane is in Gettysburg and Doug in Manhatten. Somehow, I never quite do get the time off that I plan on, there's just too much "busy-ness" in my life. I accomplished a lot though. One thing I did want to do on Tuesday night was watch a movie, but it was too late. So last night I watched The Pursuit of Happyness 'til 1 AM - good movie! Rane will be home before dinner, Doug will be home on Friday, and next Wednesday in the early early hours Thorne will be home!! Yes!!! All my guys home for Easter!!!

Monday, March 19, 2007

I love it when you know with absolute certainty that what you are doing is God's plan!! Thank you, God, for being sovereign in my life! You are truly an awesome God! By the way, thanks for showing me the way when I am lost, God, and for showing me the path You want me to be on! I had Ki at the vet's this AM for a weight check. In 1 month she has only gained 2 lbs. She's up to a whopping 46 lbs. - down from her normal of 52 lbs, but still up from her post surgery of 42 lbs. Anywhoooo.....she may be hypoglycemic. She starts to have tremors (kind of like shivering) about 2 hrs. before she eats dinner. We are trying to feed her 1/2 c. of dog food mid-day - frankly, she can use the weight, but hopefully it will help with the tremors. The vet is a little concerned that it could be diabetes or even a forerunner to a more serious seizure problem. But I'm not gonna borrow any trouble. I'm just glad that she has a lot of energy and seems well. Since she has been sick and had her surgery, she has definitely become more attached to me -which does not help her separation anxiety at all. Any of my many sons and daughters who would like to come wear out Ki, is definitely welcome here anytime!!

Thursday, March 08, 2007

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Can you all hear me screaming? It's total and absolute frustration. We got home from co-op and Kiah had gotten a hardback book off the book shelf and eaten the whole cover - front, back, and spine! I was so worried as what it would do to her intestines, since they aren't in the best shape now at all. My 2 book shelves that are together has her crate pulled in front of it with 2 dining room chairs on either side. The other one had Rane's 2 guitars, but methinks that now we will have to go buy some metal "thing" that will cover the book shelf & lean his guitars against it to hold it in place. She is making my life very difficult. I truly do love her, but believe it or not she has gotten even more obsessive with me since her surgery. She HAS to be with me at all times. AND she did this with 1/2 valium in her, so I'm guessing she did it right after we left and then took a nice valium induced nap! Pray for wisdom for us in dealing with her behavior that she just started exhibiting in Sept, but not to the degree it is now. I need the "dog whisperer" or something along that lines. Yep, wisdom is what I need at this time, along with prayer.

Tuesday, February 27, 2007

Since I am recovering from the virus from Hell, I have decided to make myself feel better. I am starting to celebrate my Irish roots ( WOHOOOO! for the Irish! Yes, I'm 3/4 Irish or as my brothers used to call me "the red flame" and it wasn't only for my hair!) Anyway, do something fun early. I have changed my earrings to my emeralds and will wear them in honor of my ancestors through St. Paddy's day! Go Irish!!! Actually, it's my belief that everyone is a little bit Irish on St.Patrick's Day, so do something fun!. Thorne will be in Ireland on his cross-cultural experience with other students from Lee on St. Paddy's Day.( He's actually leaving on March 9th.) Go Thorne! Wish I could be doing something "that" fun, maybe changing to my emeralds seems a little ... oh I don't know - BORING as opposed to actually being in Ireland!! Well, I will live vicariously through my son - and whatever he brings back for me from the Emerald Isle. Yep, when I don't feel good - it's all about ME!!

Monday, February 26, 2007

UGGHHHHHH! I hate being sick! Praise God that I'm not flat on my back, but this nasty upper respiratory infection is just wearing me out. Not to mention, the cough. Check out the pic of Kiah in my profile pic. I stripped all the beds yesterday and washed everything - sheets & blankets. While I was putting the blanket back on our bed, Kiah was making herself very comfortable in the laundry basket with the nice warm sheets from the dryer. She was way cute!

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Ki's staples are out!!! YEA!!! Her collar is off and now all I have to do is fatten her up. She lost about 8 lbs. and really needs the weight back on. But slowly she will gain it back. Boxers are so muscular that there is very little body fat ( unless you overfeed your boxer) that even just going without food for 1 day, her face started looking hollow. She loves her new dog food and is always telling me she's hungry. And she could very well be, as this food has no fillers and is all protein for. Time to go feed her again!
