if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with

We as believers need to examine ourselves. Do we really live out what we say we believe? Do we really behave like we have fellowship with Christ? Yes sin is real and we will never be perfect but do you struggle with sin and try to kill sin? Or is it just something you say you do but don't really do it? I get so sad when I hear someone say they are a Christian but live contrary to how Christ lived or desires for His children to live. I grieves my heart when people place themselves next to Christ and yet dishonor Christ. I rather have people say "nothing" rather than dishonoring and demeaning His name!!
Friday, October 06, 2006

John 15:2 "<WOJ>Every branch of mine that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit."
That's all the verse says, remember Lot's wife but why? what is so special about Lot's wife that the Holy Spirit wants us to remember. It's interesting to look back at the particular situation that occurred that God wants us to remember. God was so gracious to save them before he destroyed sodom and Gomorrah. He lets Lot's family leave before destruction, walking away from that sinful place God tells them not to look back but continue to look forward. Oh the dreadful decision that befell Lot's wife -- she looked back. Looked back at her sinful lifestyle that she once engaged in. And boom, pillar of salt just like that, judgement. I think about how does that relate to us right now and why does God wants us to remember that. It's not like we have a sodom and gomorrah place that we need to leave before God destroyes it. But then you think through your life and see that God has called us out of a lifestyle of sinful desires. When he saved us he renewed us and calls us to walk in the light rather than the dark. But many times there are Christians who desire their old way of life, they desire the old lifestyle so when they live their lives in the Lord, they turn back and look at what they once had. Boom -- pillar of unusefulness. The deception of the world fills their minds and slowly they start walking back to their old ways. They start to believe the lies that their old lifestyle is better than walking with Christ. Boom they didn't remember Lot's wife. They didn't heed the warning of not looking back...and that is why there are so many "christians" who are so unuseful for the Lord.

Thursday, July 13, 2006

2 Peter 2:20-22 "For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, "A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire."

why do christians fall out of love with the Lord? why do so many Christians live like the world and make decisions like Christ never sacrificed himself to satisfy God's wrath? It saddens me to see how some Christians live...well at least those who profess and tell the world they are Christians. They return to their sinful ways and desire sin; sin that placed Christ on the cross. Oh how we forget the price that was paid for this redemption that we take for granted. We live in a world of ignorance, we breath God ignoring air. Christians should be sick of this and yet they join the game of idolatry and sinful play!! And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to
each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of
your exile (ESV)

It's
so easy to say, "I am a Christian." Many people will claim to be
a certain religion because they grew up with that religion. But
should people claim Christianity when they are not living a life that
represents Christ. Labeling oneself of being a Christian should
change the way one lives their lives. Peter understood this
concept. It was not just a word or label that should be used
lightly. "If you call on him as Father," calling yourself a
Christian is claiming that you are a child of God, that you represent
your Father. It is so sad that people live a life of unholiness
and yet claim to be a Christian. It goes against who the Father
is. Peter tells us if we DO call on him as Father then "conduct
yourself with fear," the previous verses says to live a life of
holiness. That is what a Christian is, a life that is set apart
to show the world who God is, who their Father is. Christianity
is a great calling and an awesome gift from God; we don't deserve to
call Him Father, we don't deserve to represent Christ - but because of
Jesus' obedient act we are allowed to through faith and trust in
Him. Oh I pray that people really examine their lives before
giving themselves a name that represent Holiness.
