| RiverbendGah. I read Riverbend and without explicity saying it, she makes the West so...shameful. Hmm. Ok, random stimulation of a topic, 'cos the page this was on wouldn't let me see the results and I'm...curious. Should Israel be inspected by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency - and yes, I realise that by elaborating on the abbreviation, it made the abbreviation totally superfluous. Shush, you...)? Yes; no; or, hey, Israel doesn't have any chemical or nuclear weapons, so why would it be necessary? Just curious. And yeah, something to do with cats and all that, but hey... | | |
| Ok, so not a massive fan of the font used for the page in general, but that's the only way I can have this background. Yes, I realise that is a totally impractical way to go about it, and the better way would be to alter the background. But that's altogether too much work; I haven't got somewhere to host it where I can alter the background's contrast or maybe just watercolour it or something. So it'll just have to do with this massive chunky text. Nyeh. Yeah, silence broken. Second time in six months, that's about right, right? ;) Always in times of exam or public holiday, I reappear, so just...yeah. Don't actually have much to say really; I have no interest or intent to (shit grammar) go back and explique exactement les raisons for the general arr-ishness of 2 posts ago, 'cause it would bring us back, what, almost a year? Long time ago, and shit has happened faaar faster than xanga since then. Reeally fun times, eh? But. We digress. Present, that's what it's all about. 'Digress'. Good word, that. Anyway, mass overhaul of the xanga layout; not to the extent of, say, deleting everything because...I'm not sure how and...well, not, and not to the extent that it has any significance, but it's strange: looking at a site that I largely hadn't changed since I was 14. Really long time ago...that was the time of my total lack of any description of social life (I now kid myself that I have one, right? ;) ), all the Barrowdownsyhype (haven't posted there in about 4 months, preceeded by a break of about 7 months...), before the BDs went all shit and cliquey (this isn't a reflection on anyone, don't take it the wrong way. But...well, if you still frequent the Downs, you'll know what I mean), and the time when xanga caused a few more problems in RL than it solved. Never mentioned that, I don't think: basically, a girl in my class found my xanga, and printed out posts that made mention to a couple of others in my year, some of which...weren't exactly recieved with joy and enthusiasm, shall we say. Weird: that was in UV, and I'm not good friends with the lady in question. But hey. Time passes. I've no doubt she still remembers, although she probably doesn't dissect it with quite the same amount of paranoia. That's the reason I don't post so much any more, I guess, or why I stopped posting so much anyway (and why some posts mysteriously disappeared to 'private'; they were stored on my computer at some point, but I deleted them years ago). There's the worry that people would find it. Princess found it through typing in a couple of names, I think: she knew I kept a blog, and that I called her boyf 'Aladdin', and just went from there. But if Princess could find it, there's no reason why anyone else couldn't: Russia, or Blondie. Would probably lower Russia's opinion of me (he's...something of a friend :) But what do I know - probably all in my head, innit?), and Blondie..well, she's made clear what she thinks of me recently, and there are still a number of older posts in reference to her, probably. But hey. Off to University in a couple of months, if everything goes right in the next few months: English, either at Oxford or Kings London, depending on how well it goes, and I don't see xanga helping the achievement of grades! New era. So end of xanga? Maybe. This was an utterly pointless waste of time, wasn't it? Meh, here you go then, have something to take away: http://powerofnarrative.blogspot.com/ good stuff, interesting. Maybe reflective of my more Democratic bias, but don't be too offended if you're a staunch Republican, it's more Bush-hating than GOP-hating ;) and... http://riverbendblog.blogspot.com/ I don't really follow this anymore, but it's an Iraqui girl writing basically about all the changes. It's a strange perspective, I guess. Anyway, interesting, especially the older stuff (but what do I know - likesay, haven't followed it much. There. Utter time-wastage. Which is, of course, nothing to do with the fact that I have an RS essay to do...;) x | | |
| Wow, that was a long time ago. And also a rather rough period. This is less so much rough than...prickly. But hey, currently I'm kinda walking on the air, today anyway, and thus, hey, breaking my silence, arrogant though it might seem (it isn't, really), to post something just very quickly. That something being that yesterday, I got an offer to do English. At Oxford University. Oh, huzzah. | | |
| Mrs B: "I bet you're thinking it's one of those weeks that you just wish would end?"
Damn right there... - possibly I'll update later. Then again, maybe not.
| Alright, Bath International School's MUN done, now moving on to Stockport Grammar - my third MUN, but the first time I won't be representing Egypt. But hey, staying on the Middle Eastern committee because, frankly, when we've only been given a week to prepare (yeah, it's on Saturday, and we got told on Thursday - oh joy), I ain't going for anything too radical. My school got given Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Zimbabwe and Russia - and damn right, I got the Motherland herself. However, methinks that sitting chanting Soviet marching songs, much as they are damn good, isn't really gonna help me particularly - and I know nothing else about Russia. Oh no, really, I ain't joking. Could be interesting...
Methinks I may have to do what all MUNers get told not to: represent my own opinion dressed up as Russia's, but darn convincingly. At least I know something about the two issues: Palestine (yay, I know about that! From Egypt's viewpoint anyway...), and Syria and it's relationship with Israel. I'm a little sketchy (read: tres, tres sketchy) about the latter, but hey, the gist is probably that Syria wants to nuke Israel. Everyone seems to want to nuke Israel. Sigh.
Aftershow party from Les Miserables was last night...and I haven't actually mentioned yet here that I was doing that. Hmm. Well, I have Halle in quarter of an hour, so I shall save this for later. Maybe. Suffice to say that I went to bed at about 4 O'Clock in the morning and am so very, very tired...
Russian songs are golden songs, not german prittle prattle! Russian songs are strong and bold and lead us into battle! (sorry...)
