    Fair Day

Today is Fair Day for us. Our county fair has been going on this past week. We haven't gone so far but today is the day. My son is so excited. I don't share in his excitement though. I do enjoy the Fair, just not all the things that he wants to do at the Fair. . Our church has a booth there. Today is the day for the teens to work the booth so my daughter will go and work for 4 hours. Then my son and I will join her for the evening. I'm looking forward to getting a gyro from the Greek food stand. I just love those things!! Can you tell what I like best about the fair?

My niece (Carli) had her tonsils removed yesterday. I watched my youngest nephew while my sister and her husband went to the hospital. Carli did great. The surgery was at 11 a.m. and the doctor came back out by 11:25 and said he was finished and everything went wonderfully. They were back home by 3 p.m. We went up and visited with my sister and Carli for awhile in the evening. Needless to say that Carli wasn't up to much company. But we brought her a little doggy purse and a DVD of  Bible stories. She was eating some sherbert ice cream when we arrived. She looked so pitiful lying there on the couch. She had a little trouble once they got home with vomiting but after she did, she felt much better. I guess is was from the anesthetic. Thankfully, she is on the mend.

This is a picture of my niece. It's the only one I have of her on my computer. She is the one in the front in the white dress with purple dots. This picture was taken at Easter at my mom and dad's house. This is all of my mom and dad's grandchildren.

My mom and I are going to some yard sales today. I just love yard sales. There are several around so when I drop my daughter off at the Fair, we'll go and find some.

It's time to wake up my hubby so he can get ready for work. He has to be in early today as two people won't be there. He's not very thrilled with that.  .. Have a great day.

  • Wet Wednesday

Yep, you guessed it. It's raining here today.  .. Not too bad, although we are supposed to have some bad storms come through later on. I hope it's after church.

Speaking of church, I'm still in the nursery on Wednesday nights. We have 4 nurserys in our church. One is for infants up to a year old. The second is for 13 months to 23 months. And the last two are for boys from 2 to 3 years old and girls from 2 to 3 years old. We have what's called room leaders in each room for each service. The room leader is in that particular nursery for the same service for 3 months. The idea behind that is so the kids can have a familiar face each time they go to the nursery. I'm the room leader for the 13 month to 23 month olds. I'm in until the end of July. Sounds like I'm in jail, doesn't it?  . I enjoy it. I can't sing or do much of anything else so I feel my service is in the nursery ministry.

We had a good 4th of July. We were able to spend it with my husband's sister and her family that are in from the Philippines and his other sister and her husband that are in from Peru. It was wonderful to spend time with them and catch up. Our children are all around the same age and have missed each other. They keep in touch through instant messaging, though. So when they got together it was if they were never apart. They have had such a great time being with each other. I've realized just how much I've missed my sisters -in- law. Most of you that read my blog know my one sister-in-law, Becky. Here's her blog. She's not able to update very often as they are out and traveling to different churches all the time. Here is a picture of my husband's other sister and her family. The children are quite a bit bigger now but this is the most recent photo I have. That will be changing soon since we will be able to take more pictures of everyone together.

    Family Spears (2)

I've recently come across some more blogs that I really enjoy reading and thought I would post them here so you all could visit.
Blessed Motherhood ~ This blog is a blessing to me. I really enjoy her thriftyness.
Confessions of a CF Husband ~ This blog just brings tears to my eyes to see how the Lord is working in this family.
Ginger-Pie ~ I enjoy this blog. I love seeing all the sewing she does.
Susan's Blog ~ Susan has so many things on her blog. I get such a blessing seeing how she sews, runs a smallish farm, homeschools her two boys, and her thriftyness has taught me quite a bit.

Well, time to get busy. have a great day everyone!

  • Hello again!!

Hello again, my long lost Xanga pals!! How's things going around here? I have been offline for a while now and I'm not sure how long I'll be online, but while I'm here, I'll blog. I have missed reading your blogs and look forward to getting around to them. I doubt that will be today, but soon.

Same old thing going on around here. We're trying to enjoy this hot, muggy Ohio weather inbetween the severe storms that pop up out of nowhere. Ahh.. life in Ohio. Nothin' like it.. btw, that was complete sarcasm.

My daughter went to camp last week. She had a great time. She won first place in the singing competition! She also sang with a group and the group won first place. Then she won 2nd place in the Bible competition and 3rd place in a basketball shootout. She also faired well spiritually. She told us that she has surrendered her life to full time ministry for the Lord. We are overjoyed!! What a blessing. I pray for my children everyday and it just blesses my heart to see the Lord working in their lives.

Last night at church we had Great Commission Night. We serve dinner and then we have many projects around the church that need done. Last night's "theme" was Bible making. A group from Bearing Precious Seed Ministry came and set up their things for us to put together Bibles. It's not the whole Bible, just John and Romans. These Bibles were in Portuguese. They are going to Mozambique, Africa. I went along with my 2 children and my nephew. We had a great time and I was able to show my nephew what missions is all about. He is 13 and doesn't like to go to church. But he had a blast last night and kept talking about how the Bibles are going to another country to people who probably have never heard of Jesus Christ.

I have many things around the house to work on. Especially as I prepare for our homeschool to start in August. As of right now, my son is still working on his math. He seems to have trouble with it so I'm having him do a little each day. He is starting to really get it and loves learning the division. It is helping him keep the multiplication facts in his head.

I don't feel very motivated to fix up our little corner we use for school. I work better under pressure so I will probably get moving the closer to August we get. Although, this is already July 1. I'm the world's best procrastinator! =)

Yesterday in my daily Bible reading, I read Proverbs 31. Does anyone else have a problem trying to apply all the characteristics of the Proverbs 31 lady? I think the biggest problem I have is rising early and then not eating the bread of idleness. ;) I do love that chapter, though. After reading it, I do get a bit more accomplished around the house. Maybe I should read that chapter every morning.. ;)

I look forward to hearing from you all! Have a great day.

  • Happy Birthday, Missy!!

Today is my best friend's birthday. Jump on over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday.

It's been a long time since I've blogged. We are dealing with some very serious issues here and I just haven't had the energy nor the motivation to blog. I would appreciate your prayers for my family right now and maybe in a while I'll be able to look back and smile and say I see the Hand of God in everything. But right now, I just don't.

Anyway, I wanted to pop on to wish a very happy birthday to my best friend, Missy. We've been friends for well over 26 years now. Wow!! Can you believe that, Missy? Time has flown by. I remember when we were teenagers on our way to Mexico for a missions trip and now we are both close to 40 (well, you're closer than me ) with teenagers of our own.

Thank you so much for your friendship. I don't know what I would have done over the years without you. Especially these past few weeks. Even when things have seemed so dark, you have helped me through by your support and prayers. Thank you for everything. I hope you have a wonderful day!! Love ya.

  • Kids say the cutest things.. and some other stuff

As usual, things are always crazy around here. My son started coughing again last Thursday and running a fever. But he only ran a fever that evening and hasn't had one since. He's just been coughing. But I noticed yesterday morning that the cough is just about gone. So I'm very thankful that this round didn't involve a trip to the doctor.

My parents are sick again. Last Tuesday they took all the grandkids to the Newport Aquarium. I went as well. We had a great time. But then that evening my dad started getting sick. By Thursday my mom was very ill also. They both are on antibiotics. I talked to mom last night and she was in tears because she felt so bad.

And of course, just when I think things couldn't get worse, my brother decides to act up again and have the sheriff called on him.  ... and living in the small little hick town we do, one of the deputies that went to my brother's house is a friend of his and instead of taking my brother to jail (which is where he should have went), my brother's friend takes him to my sick parent's house!!! I told dad to have them bring my brother over here because my parents don't need their 31 year old drunk son at their house right now. But my brother won't stay with me because we won't let him smoke in our house!  .. It's always something around here!

This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is the RU Conference that our chapter is hosting in Milford. I can't wait. The founder of RU, Steve Curington will be there. I'm very excited about being involved in this ministry! The Lord has shown me over the past several weeks that this is exactly where He wants me right now. And who am I to fight against the Lord.

Now on to something completely unrelated. This past Sunday in the Sunday school class I teach, I was asking the questions at the end of our story to my 4 year old to Kindergarten girls. They are so funny. You just never know what they will say. We were talking about when Jesus ascended to Heaven after He resurrected. I asked them to name one thing that Jesus is doing for us in Heaven. One little girl named Megan said, "He's making us pancakes."  .. How precious is that!! Have a great day!

A quick edit ~~ I just came back from my parents and they are just so sick. Please pray that they start feeling better. My mom looks so bad!

Also, XangaPastor has an awesome devotion that I really needed today! You can read it here.
