| "Who is like the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heave and in the earth?" (Psalm 113:5-6)
It's amazing to me to think that God is so great, that he has to 'lower' himself to even look at his own creation.
| Today I was thinking about the advent of international travel. I mean... think about it: one hundred years ago, people were just getting in the mood for cars and airplanes were the brand new thing. Nobody was making spaceships yet, and it was rare for people to do alot of travel.
With this in mind, it amazes me when you hear people saying "Oh, I'm going to school in such and such a state." Or, "Yeah, I'm taking a two week trip to this far away country." "I'm going on a missions trip to this country or this state." "I've decided to move to another country, go to school there, and maybe live. If not, I'll just come back after school is done."
I'm just a few years out of highschool. I've been to alot of different states (and have been to several on my own) and by the end of this year I'll have been to three different countries (being Canada, USA, and the Philippines). Other people my age are already living on their own in other countries; or at least, going to school there.
The world is small and the universe is shrinking. We've been to space; we've had men on the moon, and we've had machines on Mars. We have robots probing space hundreds of thousands of miles away from earth. You can find a local map of pretty much anywhere on earth, or even watch live camera feeds of NYC from a dorm in Tokyo, Japan, if you wish. We're mapping the oceans, we're mapping outerspace, and if you don't mind spending the money, you can be anywhere you want in the world in just 24 hours.
Whether it's related or not, it makes me think about people and their lives. We can go anywhere, and yet fewer and fewer people know where their life is going because they lack direction and purpose. Real purpose and real direction. In seeking satisfaction, none is found.
People look in all the wrong places.
| "Ando Momofuku, Father of the Instant Ramen, passed away on January 5th at the age of 96. He concocted the idea for Instant Ramen after WWII, hoping to reduce the amount of poor nourishment for soldiers in the field. If not for this great man, many a poor college student and programmer would have starved over the years. From the article: 'In 1971, Nissin introduced the Cup Noodle featuring instant ramen in a waterproof plastic foam container. Dubbed the "Ramen King," Ando is credited with expanding Nissin into the No. 1 company in the industry and was well-known for his dedication to his work ... In 1999, Ando opened the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, after installing his second son, Koki, as president of the company.'"

| Some things are nice to think about, even though you have no understanding of them. | | |
| I’ve been reading this book, and I think it’s pretty good. It just came out, and it’s a little different… I don’t think it’s for everybody just because it has a lot of talking from a guy who is interested in nerdy things. It’s an autobiography of Phil Vischer, the creator of VeggieTales; it goes through his childhood, to the creation of BigIdea and ultimately to its bankruptcy. Then he talks about what he learned from it. At one point, he writes:
/////////
"C.S. Lewis said, 'He who has God plus many things has nothing more than he who has God alone." Now, I have no problem with that statement when I think of it like this: ‘He who has God plus a big, shiny car has nothing more than he who has God alone.' Or ‘He who has God plus a fancy house has nothing more than he who has God alone.’ No problem. But if God is infinite, we can’t add anything to him. Nothing, added to God, can meet our needs any more than God alone. So we need to put everything in that blank.
‘He who has God plus a wonderful, healthy marriage has nothing more than he who has God alone.’ Hmm. Gee. And the one that really got to me: ‘He who has God plus an amazing ministry impacting millions of lives around the world has nothing more than he who has God alone.’ Nothing more. As I came to the end of the tape, sitting in my car in my garage, Rick said this: ‘If God gives you a dream, and the dream comes to life and God show up in it, and then the dream dies, it may be that God wants to see what is more important to you – the dream of him. And once he’s seen that, you may get your dream back. Or you may not, and you may live the rest of your life without it. But that will be okay, because you’ll have God.’
I couldn’t get out of the car. I couldn’t speak. God was enough. Just God? Even without all the work – all the crazy pedaling and accomplishing? Just God?”

Then he goes on about Abraham and God’s long-coming promises to him. It just meant a lot to me to read that.
