  • Pics of the new house!

We are pretty much moved in!  Yes, we are sleeping, cooking and cleaning here but there are still a few things to be completed before it is "done."

    • Install trim around windows and walls
    • Install the cabinet above the toilet
    • Make/install bedroom and closet doors
    • Make/install closet fixtures
    • move in couches and kitchen table
And in new news::::::  we are getting goats!  I think we are getting 3 female boar goats, but haven't actually bought them yet.  Josh really wants goats so they can eat the poison ivy and other weeds on our overgrown property, and so they can provide education for Lizzie and her future siblings.  The fencing is in my van, ready to be put up and then we will go looking for goats!

But you want to see pics of the new house? OK!

The front door and living room.  I can't believe the brush strokes show up on the camera - darn!  LOL  That big cardboard box is Lizzie's play house. Josh cut her a door and two windows.

Our awesome Rustic Hickory cabinets and kitchen!  This is my favorite room. Josh worked so hard on it and did a FANTASTIC job!

Our bathroom cabinets - also rustic hickory.  Josh's side is on the left. He customized it so I - his short little wife, can have the bigger drawers and lower sink!

Our gorgeous bedroom.  The walls are a dark red/purple color.  The coffered ceiling is a pink - and only around the ledge, the rest of it is white :)  Lizzie's bed will go next to her changing table when we bring it in.

    Gotta go!

I'll update more when I can, but I still don't have the internet at my house. Thank you!

  • Why I've been Gone...

So, no post in a long time because....

    we are finally moving!!

We've been living with Josh's parents for the past year while Josh has been busy building our house.  We moved in here in May 2007.  I've loved getting closer to them and they have fallen in love with Lizzie, but I am so glad to finally move into our new house!  The carpet was laid today and tomorrow Josh is installing the stove and microwave hood!  Then we are in!!

Once we are in, Josh is going to install the trim, finish the window sills, I will make the curtains and we will install cable internet.

I'll post pics after I am moved in and the house looks nice - right now we are still living amongst a sea of boxes.  Praise the Lord, I had no idea this day was coming so soon!

Oh, and we won't have internet for awhile (it isn't even installed yet!), so I don't know when I will be on again, but I will try to update, I hate leaving my Xanga gals for so long.

  • Manhattan, KS Tornado

This is my hometown.  I was born here and all my friends and family live around this area.  Manhattan hasn't had a tornado touch down in 42 years, but last night there was a lot of damage.

Kansas State University - my alma matter - had an estimated $20 million in damage.

A locally owned hardware store was demolished. So was a storage unit.  A Toyota/Honda dealership was hit very hard, the showroom nearly destroyed.

The area were my best friend used to live and I would play at was one of the hardest hit residential areas.  about 15 homes were leveled, many others were badly damaged.

Some very pricey new construction homes in the expanding area of Manhattan was torn up as well.

But thankfully no one was hurt, and I did not personally know anyone that lost a home.

Even so, my gut wrenches every time I drive by and see the damage.  My heart aches with sympathy for those people that lost vehicles, homes, memories and businesses.

I think my heart goes out even more to the Waters family. They own the hardware store, and there is nothing left of it, just debris.  I pray that God helps them to recover financially.  Since my husband is a small business owner, I know how frightened they must be, and how devastated. When you own a small business work and life are one and the same.  When your business suffers, your whole world suffers.

    Where was I during this?

I was with my in-laws.  We live 1 hours northeast of where the tornado hit, so all we got was thunder and lightening.  Our new house is east of Manhattan so it wasn't hit by a tornado either. Josh was driving home during the tornado but avoided it, praise the Lord!

Please pray for everyone that is recovering from this devastation.

This is what used to be Waters True Value Hardware. Behind it was Amherst Self Storage.

This is the SAE fraternity on the K-State campus. Their roof was blown 100 ft across the street.

This is just one of the many homes that was destroyed in the residential area of Manhattan.

  • 1 year old!

One year ago today I was wondering if the baby would ever be born!  Then one year ago tomorrow I gave birth to Lizzie Leona at 9:30 in the morning by a C-Section.

We have gone from me reading all the textbooks and "knowing it all" to knowing I know nothing!  She's always been a very strong, healthy, big girl!  She has brought delight to everyone around her.  Even though she is growing more independent every day, she still prefers to sleep next to mommy, snuggling and nursing!

Here are a few pics of her growing up!

    Brand new!  My angel!

2 months old.  She only liked the pacifier for those 2 months, wouldn't take it anymore after that :)

4 months - growing so fast!

5 months - already sitting up all by herself!

    6 months - my joy!

9 months and almost walking on her own.

Here she is today!  My beaming toddler!  I can't wait to see what else life has in store for us!

    I LOVE YOU LIZZIE LEONA!
