  • Bedroom eyes for another blog

It has come to my realization that my Xanga posting has gone through a dry spell recently. Now I'm not the type of female who makes excuses ("I have a headache" or "I'm too tired tonight") but I have been giving my attentions to another "blog" site. And I'm going to use my Xanga relationship to shamelessly plug it. I just hope Xanga doesn't get jealous.

Check out www.PostAdvertising.com. Since I'm in advertising it is sort of work related in the sense that it is a blog about advertising. But, (and here is the part that really gets my motor running) it's actually interesting! It is all about how advertising in the traditional sense is not effective anymore and we are in the post advertising age. I write under the handle "a classy lady." And here is where it gets good for you - they have a weekly comment contest. Wittiest comment wins $100. All for just saying what you think. And sometimes, that is a better release than sex.

  • My Weekend

Saturday I had to come in the office and put in about 6 hours of work, which was no biggie. I didn't really have anything planned and I had stuff that had to get done (i.e. copy for an entire website which was due Monday and started Friday). So I came in, banged it out and that was that. All good. Sunday, here we come!

So its Sunday. I set very lofty goals of getting stuff done around my apartment, doing a little laundry and then lounging around. Did that happen? Not so much. Instead, I broke my home laptop  (not functional right now due to a botched Windows XP Service Pack 3 download) and nothing is backed up - not a single picture, song or piece of my portfolio. Insert round of explicatives here.. . Hopefully it's fixable without erasing my entire hard drive. Only time (and a Windows XP Disk) will tell.

Then I tried making Texas Cake to make myself feel better. And if you have never had Texas Cake, then you haven't lived! It's amazing. But it was my first time making it and it was a disaster. I was so flustered by my broken laptop that I couldn't focus on my cake baking. I made several rookie mistakes:
    1) I didn't check to see if I had enough ingredients before I started the process and ran out of sugar (note to self: cannot substitute real sugar for confectioner's sugar).
    2) I didn't wait until I saw the cake pulling away from the pan edges (an indication of proper doneness) before removing it from the oven.
    3) I didn't sift my confectioner's sugar before stirring it into my frosting.
So the entire cake went into the trash. Such a sad waste of chocolate!!!

But it's Monday now so it's all in the past and I have a fresh start.

  • Fantabulous Day @ Work

Today, at work, I was asked to go to a launch party in the city for a website, that today I was also asked to contribute to. That may make you say, "Well, Megan...what is so fantabulous about that?" To which I would reply, "Nothing, besides the free food, alcohol, great DJ and awesome people." I'm just hoping my work load will allow me to go. If it won't, I'll just show it whose boss so that I can.

  • Saw Atonement finally!

On Saturday I finally rented (and by rented I mean ordered from OnDemand via my cable) the movie "Atonement." OMG! Overall it was pretty amazing. I had two issues that didn't make it spectacular for me. One is that it was hard for me to understand the dialogue at times because of their accents, even when I rewound and turned up the volume. Two is that it moved a little slow in spots and then all of a sudden it was over. But all-in-all I liked it a lot. And if you  haven't seen it yet, I strongly recommend you do so.

In other news, I'm very upset by Brooke's departure from American Idol. She was my 2nd favorite behind Mr. Rocker (aka David Cook). David Archuleta is way too immature and is only in the contest still because of his tweeny-bopper following and Jason Castro? He's been the same throughout the entire competition and doesn't really seem to care that he's in it one way or another. Brooke put her heart and soul and was passionate about what she did. I guess that's what I get for not voting.
