wow, an update!

So it’s 12:34am and I should be in bed. But since it’s been so long I figured I’d say hello… so hi.

Where to start… hmmm.

Home:
The girls came over this morning and we had muffins and talked house. We cut pictures out of magazines of stuff we would like in our lives and pasted them to boards… after that Alanna refused to take a nap. We are working on the potty training, her idea not mine. She wakes up every morning saying “poo poo? pee pee?” then we run to the toilet where she proceeds to pull all the TP off the roll. All before I’ve had my coffee.

School is good, Joe starts one of the two final classes he needs to graduate with his Masters tomorrow. I have Biology left to get my web development degree… yeah Biology… oh and Women’s Studies. I don’t get it either.

Work:
I’m still procrastinating my MCTS certification. I dont know what my problem is. I really want a study partner. Anyone want to join me?

Jury duty and other things.

Had Jury Duty orientation yesterday. I managed to get excused because of Alanna. But it was very interesting and I hope to be able to do it the next time I’m summoned.

Today it’s back to the grind. Getting my day job done and going home to work on the house more. I’m painting the kitchen. It’s red, I’m changing it to green. I love red but as an accent, not an entire room.

We also have an electrician coming today to put in a new circuit for our pool salt water generator.  I have a “Kreepy Krauly” thingy that automagically cleans the pool (it came with the house). I ran it yesterday and that thing is awesome! Next up is putting a locking gate on the pool area to keep the dog and toddler out. As it is you have to go down 15 steps to get to the deck and then up about three steps to get to the pool. The door to get to all of those steps is locked with three locks, but Im not taking any chances. Im putting an auto locking gate directly on the pool.

What else… oh! My inlaws are moving to Oak Ridge, they put an offer on a house near the Caldwell’s place. Woo! It’s not as close as I’d like them to be but oh well. It’s still closer than where they are now.

furniture shopping

lots and lots of furniture shopping… and what have we bought…. nothing!

Furniture shopping should be like that scene in Annie where Annie arrives at the Warbucks household and the people sing and twirl in, dangle some fabric at her for new clothes, she points at the one she likes and they twirl out.

But no, its more like getting a salesmen’s work schedule so you know they are getting their cut, then pushing the stroller around or carrying the toddler while she screams to get down or be passed from me to Joe, back to me. While ALSO trying to measure the furniture and visualize if it will fit in the space allotted for it. It’s a freaking circus. Even when we manage to go without a toddler in tow, getting Joe and I to agree on one thing is a long arduous task. (Just ask our Realtor once he gets out of the crazy house we managed to put him in.) I visualize a room where I can watch movies with the girlfriends, Joe visualizes a room where the guys can watch football. There is middle ground… it just takes some time to get there. We usually arrive, but by golly it would be so much easier if the stores would just twirl in, show us furniture, we point at what we want and they twirl out… complete with a Broadway song.

You  know, that aside I’m still singing, “I Think I’m Gonna Like it Here”. This house is a dream. :)

whew

We are in our new home. It’s absolutely beautiful!!! I am so happy!! Now come over and see it. We are unpacking still but when we are done we’ll be having a house warming. Yay!

Sorry for the lag in posting. There is so much going on here I can’t seem to get it all written down.

Yesterday, I went to backwash the pump for our pool, sparks flew from the plug and it caught on fire. I screamed and ran and Joe shut off the breaker… now that was fun. We have an electrician coming soon to put in a dedicated line and to prevent that from ever happening again. But wow, what a way to meet the neighbors, the one on the left came running out of her house asking if I was okay. How embarrassing!

Let’s see, we still need a couch for our family room and a desk/shelves for Kieran’s room. His room is full of boxes and no where to put stuff. Alanna’s room is the same situation. I need some ideas. We need a four person round dinner table since our table completely fills our eat in kitchen.

Joe was up till the wee hours of the morning emptying our storage unit. It’s all in our garage.

Alanna and Kieran seem to really like it here. We have three bathrooms to use instead of sharing one.  Alanna loves to hang out in the sun room. I’ve got a deck off the sunroom that I’m going to screen so Alanna can’t throw toys through the slats. it doesn’t have any stairs down so it’s a great outside play area for her. I am going to hit a few yard sales and find some large plastic outdoor toys to put there for her.

Kieran can’t wait to get in the pool. But it’s just not ready yet. I was hoping we’d be in it by this weekend but it looks like next week sometime. The hot tub is ready however, I haven’t gotten in it yet. I suppose I’ll put Alanna in it with me.

Okay, I’ve rambled enough. I’ve gotta go wake up the peoples and get them ready for work/school.
