How True Is This?

I'm a person of honesty and truth.  I like to pass along and share a lot of new things and humor to my friends and family.  What I do hate the most are people who pass emails around that do not know what they are doing.  So whenever I receive an email that consists of accusations, I tend to do a little research (my friends says I have no life).  I do not like to pass along something I am not clear about.

Recently I received an email from a friend in regards to Starbucks and the Miliary.  This is the email...

Guess I won't be drinking Starbucks anymore! ! !

Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to
let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they
send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines
thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not
support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops
their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by
buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I
know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't
mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street-to-street and
house-to-house.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can
discard it and no one will never know.

Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I
deploy once more.

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS . . ALLOW IT TO BE
PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE
THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THEM OR NOT! ! !

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit the fire
fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for
the survivors and workers and Starbucks charged them! ! !

JUST A NOTE TO THIS;  STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STA TES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.  GO GET 'EM AMERICA . STAND-UP FOR OURSELVES!

After reviewing this email I went online and researched to see if any of this was true or even if it is mentioned anywhere out there in the virtual world.  This is what I found.

The Truth
TruthOrFiction.com contacted Starbucks about the story.

Starbucks says that the originator of the email, Sgt. Howard Wright, and talked with him about his complaint.
He has now sent a follow-up email to his email list, which appears below.

Starbucks assured him of their support of the military and that the only reason any coffee was not donated was because the official Starbucks donation policy authorizes such gifts to officially designated public charities, including libraries and schools, and that the U.S. military or military personnel do not qualify.
It was not meant to be a comment on the war or the service of military personnel in the war.
The company said that there have been employees that have showed their support through donations of coffee.
Starbucks told us that many of the company's employees (called "partners" by Starbucks) receive one pound of free coffee each week and some of that coffee has gone to members of the military or related organizations.
For example, the employees in the Starbucks in Atascadero, California, decided to send their weekly free coffee to troops in Afghanistan and there are other such stories about Starbucks coffee finding its way into the hands of military personnel.

Here is Sgt. Wright's follow-up email after Starbucks spoke with him:

Dear Readers,

Almost 5 months ago I sent an e-mail to you my faithful friends.  I did a wrong thing that needs to be cleared up. I heard by word of mouth about how Starbucks said they didn't support the war and all.  I was having enough of that kind of talk and didn't do my research properly like I should have.  This is not true.  Starbucks supports men and women in uniform.  They have personally contacted me and I have been sent many copies of their company's policy on this issue.  So I apologize for this quick and wrong letter that I sent out to you.

Now I ask that you all pass this email around to everyone you passed the last one to.  Thank you very much for understanding about this.

A real example of the eRumor as it has appeared on the Internet:

Subject: Starbucks

Dear everyone: Please pass this along to anyone you know, this needs to get
out in the open. Recently Marines over in Iraq supporting this country in OIF
wrote to Starbucks because they wanted ! to let them know how much they
liked their coffee and try to score some free coffee grounds. Starbucks wrote
back telling the Marines thanks for their support in their business, but that
they don't support the War and anyone in it and that they won't send them the
Coffee.
So as not to offend them we should not support in buying any Starbucks
products. As a War vet and writing to you patriots I feel we should get this out
in the open. I know this War might not be very popular with some folks, but
that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street to
street and house to house for what they and I believe is right. If you feel the
same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it and I'll never
know. Thanks very much for your support to me, and I know you'll all be there
again here soon when I deploy once more.

Thank you!

So you see why I like to do researches before jumping to conclusions.  Besides, why do you care if Starbucks supports them or not.  Isn't it more important if YOU yourself is doing anything to support the trooops/ the war or not?  Personally, I am undecided.

Death will always hit you the same way...

What brought me back to this site after 3 months?  Death.  I realized that death always hits me the same way each time.  Especially when its someone I know or a family or friend of someone I know.  Today I just heard a very sad news... the mom of a friend of mine recently passed away due to cancer.  I haven't worked with my friend in over a year.  He's always been a happy person and nothing really bothers him.  The last time I saw him was the day after Xmas.  He seemed fine.  He didn't show a hint that his mom was sick from cancer.  He lived life the way he normally lives... merry.  Now what I realized is that the news hit ME hard.  Its almost as of a close family member of mine had passed away.  Its a strange feeling.  It brings back memories of when my dad passed away.  No one at work new my dad passed away.  My broker at the time didn't realized that fact until a year later.  I never told him.  I felt I didn't have to.  My sorrow is not his burden.  So why bring it up?  I think this is what my friend is going through right now.  But I have to say this... if it was my mom who passed it away, I probably would not have been as cool as I was when my dad passed away.  I have a closer bond to my mom.  She's my best friend!  I think that is why this news hit me so hard.  I have a closer bond to mother's in general.  Well, I wish my friend well and that he'll keep his head up!

New Discoveries...

We somehow learn new things everyday.  Some people think, "oh I've learn and seen everything there is in this world."  But its not always true.  Everybody learns something new each day.

Today I learned something new.  (It maybe old to others but new to me).  A "Free Hugs Compaign"  exists!  And its a very interesting organization.  Started by a loner who just wanted Hugs, then it was banned by authorities, then it was made popular by demand.  Kinda cool.  Check it out...

Memories...

Ever had a moment when you saw something and it brought back certain memories?  Well, I've noticed that music always brought me back to the days when I use to listen to that song or that album all the time during a period in my past.  I use to listen to music practically 24/7 and listen to albums or just various artists in general.  Since I don't really have any specific genre or artist I like I listen to anything that sounded good whether it was new or old.

My sister was trying to get me to listen to this guy sing who, with my eyes closed, thought it could have been Jacky Cheung, but it wasn't.  He was this Mandarin speaking guy who sang on this Mandarin speaking show on cable TV.  The guy even looked like him a little... certain features made him look very similar.  So after listening to the guy twice I came into her room and starting looking for music to add to my iPod and started sampling what we had on this computer.  As I'm listening to certain songs I realize not only does the music bring back memores, but I would get this aura like feeling around me as if I was sent back there.  I remember all the feelings I felt when I use to listen to these music.  It feels like the music brought me back in time.  Its a very strange feeling but yet it feels so good to reminicse.

So what brings your memories back?  What takes you back to those memorable days??  Share with us...

Hi,

Because my friend is bored shitless she has demanded that I write an entry so that she could read it.  Here is my new entry... uh... I'm still alive and kicking.  Still have a job.  Still have a man.  And I'm still poor.  Sounds good???  LOL.
