Interests: MUSIC,... listening and performing.. I love them both. I love Ben Folds... I'm the mellow type in music.. although I like Pink Floyd and Bowling for Soup/Jimmy Eat World rock stuff.. but yeah.. well I pretty much like everything.. except rap.. I just can't do rap.. but I'm not gonna go into it... or I'll run out of space here.. I love playing the trombone, piano, and guitar. Well... pretty much any instruments I can get my hands on.. I want to major in music.. possibly at KU if I'm lucky.. they have a great program and amazing staff members... so yeah...
Expertise: Well.. music I guess.. I'm decent at the trombone.. OK at the piano.. and.. still learning the guitar.. but I'm just a musical guy.. I like sports.. but I don't call myself an expert. Just play for fun.. but yeah.. uh.. I'm funny..though most of the time it's unintentional.. and that makes it even funnier.. you have to be there... er.. right.. I try to be a good guy.. yeah..

wow .. it's been a while I guess.

I dunno, life is being ... just that, life.  Some stuff happens, and other stuff really don't.  But it's all cool I guess.  I'm not complaining that much.  It's not that I'm confused or anything, but I'm in the pondering/wondering/thoughtful/analyzing stage ... in general.  James always says I overanalyze and he's absolutely correct.  I don't know why, but I just do it ....

deal with it.

I miss having somewhere to put down thoughts, so I dunno, maybe I'll check in once in a while.  I still read my friends' entries, don't get me wrong.  I just stopped writing because ... I dunno.  I really can't explain.  I'll just go ahead and fill you all in of what's been happening.

Marching season's come and gone and with that the football season came to a close Friday night.  It was a pretty emotional moment, because that marked the last football game with the seniors.  I didn't really think about it at all until I got home, but then I had company, so I didn't think about some more ... and now .. like yeah ... it's kind of like "whoa."  District auditions went pretty well.  I got 1st chair band and 2nd chair jazz.  A pretty big improvement from 2nd chair band and 1st alternate jazz last year.  I'm content, and that's pretty unusual.

I'm just kinda missing people ... and by people, I mean James.  I never have time to stop and think.  Life just kinda shoves me forward everyday and with all the schoolwork and stuff I just can't slow down.  Right now, it's hitting me pretty hard that I haven't seen James since August.  It's November.  That right there just seems so unreal to me.  I've been 17 for a week.  That as well ... seems so unreal.  I also haven't had the chance to hang out with any of the old crew since James left and school started.  I'm gonna see what's up during Thanksgiving Break and maybe all chill for an afternoon.  After the break, only a few weeks til winter and James... meaning lots of parties.  I can't even begin to say how excited I am for that.  The more I think about it the more I miss my friends and ...  yeah, can't wait.

A few of my classes are kicking my arse right now, but next semester should be a lot better.

That's all for now

Finale

So the first day of school.  Not a whole lot of new or cool stuff.  But I can assure you that choir is going to rock SO HARD.  But that's really about all ....

I actually did what I told myself to do today.  I was pretty proud of myself.  It might not be a whole lot ... but it's a start.

0 hour wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be.  But I'm sure that's going to change very soon.

But that's really all for now ....

soooo

The Drop-In

So the Lock-in was a blast.  We kicked some ass at the section vs section basketball tournament and came in FIRST PLACE bitches.  That was a lot of goodtimes.  Initiati... I mean "inductions" were kinda lame cuz of the new rules or whatever that those guys at whatever came up with ... so yeah ... no further comments.  Finished it off with a pudding ball and a chocolate croissant at Munchers and that, my friends, is what I call a nice way to spend 6 p.m Friday to 5 a.m Saturday for band ... no?

Last night .. or it would be two nights ago as of 48 minutes ago, I went to the Unionfest with some friends to see our new college buddies.  That was pretty cool.  We spotted some cool posters, so I went back with some friends today to get them.  I bought a really sweet one of Dizzy Gillezpie and one of Miles Davis.  Definitely a happy camper.

Nothing else interesting happening now ... School's gonna start Thursday.  I must say I'm QUITE excited.

So ... tomorrow morning I swear I'm going to the gym across the street so I should go to bed

Brass Machine

It's been a good few days.  I finally hung out with Kali yesterday.  It's been a really long time.  My mom and brother got back today.  I was at Emily Foerschler's house watching a movie with the trombone section and a few others when they arrived.  So this is the end of the single life that I enjoyed for a few days.  It was alright, except for the dishes.  They were a little annoying after a while but ... whatever and ever.  I'll be doing it in a few years.

So I'm flipping through a pamphlet of Luxembourg that my friend gave me.  I dunno ... it's really a beautiful place ... according to the pamphlet.  I'm not sure what I'm getting at.  But yeah .... hmm ....

I'm just thinking of what to do with the rest of my life I guess.  The friend from Luxembourg - the trombone player - he goes to a conservatory in Belgium.  He said that I should go there.  He really meant it too.  I dunno ... Europe is pretty hardcore.  Right now the whole idea's kind of a dream but not really sort of thing.  Something that could be possible but will be really hard to get it going.  Do I make any sense?  Going out of state to a college is pretty rough enough, but going out of the country?  There are so many factors that need to be well thought out and stuff.  I dunno ...

And my teacher moving to Virginia - Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.  I hear it's a gorgeous place; by the Atlantic, with a naval base, and a part of a big metropolitan area.  And there's also the possibility of Wheaton College, about 40 miles from Downtown Chicago.  I met a guy there and it seems like a really nice place.

My mom said I should start thinking about it and to let her know because in order for me to do ... well anything outside of Japan, I have to do about a million paperwork and other excruciating procedures .... so .... yeah.

Well ... I'm pretty tired so

And it's surely to their credit

I suppose it is time for me to say again "Oh, I haven't written here in a while," so here I am.

This past week has gone by pretty quickly.  Right off the bat I had to get to school for the marching camp on Monday (after returning to Lawrence Sunday evening).  The sophomores are doing very well.  I was really quite impressed with how much they've worked and catched on after only two days.  Tuesday was our traditional Trombone lunch-out.  We went to Papa Kenos for lunch and that was good times.  I've spent a lot of the afternoons after band with James and the crew.  We just sorta wandered around or just chilled at his place or mine.  We watched some movies and other stuff like that.  Thursday, we had basketball practice at Dad Perry park.  We're looking pretty good, so I'd say we've got a fair chance at winning the tournament this year.  After the practice, we headed over to Jade Garden for another lunch out.  We met John Phelps which was awesome.  We talked for a little bit and ate and stuff, then I went over to James' house.  I don't quite remember what we did but I know I used Fruity Loops at some point.  Jon came over later and we burned things ........... yeah, long story.  Friday, I spent the night at James' with Jon and Peter.  It was cool seeing Peter again.  It's been over 2 years.  That was some good times.  Saturday morning, Jerry came over to James' pretty early and we went garage-sale raiding ... so to speak.  Jerry circled some garage sale places around town in the newspaper and we hit several of them.  I ended up getting a kick arse set of speakers, a video card, a sound card, and a CD holder for exactly $10.25.  The CD holder was a quarter.  I'd say that's a sweet deal.  That night, which I suppose is last night, I went to the Gouges and we played Apples to Apples for a little while.  Then a few more people came and we just ended up telling stories of random but not really kind of things.  It was a blast.  I left around midnight and got home soon after.  I was in bed by 1 and I slept 'til 9:30, which was the most sleep I've gotten in .... god knows how long.  That was nice.

So I'm here now drinking a smoothie and just updating you all on what's been going on.  I still miss my friends up at the camp a lot, but I've had three people return my emails so that's a good sign.  I wouldn't expect any of you to understand the connection we made up there but it's really something.  I dunno, I even think it's pretty weird too but ....

whatever and ever
