| This Past Weekend
We went to a waterpark with Joel's family on Saturday. Enjoy the follow pictures of my boy; he really loved this area where water spurted up in jets from the ground.

On Sunday, we went to a brunch/swim time at my uncle Jon's house. A wonderful time was had by all; Tor just loves the water and he took a real liking to Jon's ladyfriend Kathryn.
It has been so hot that we didn't even venture of of the house for more than five minutes yesterday; I tried to take Tor out to play during the day, but with no shade, he was sweating within a minute and since he had already had tons of sun over the weekend, we went back inside.
Today, we went to Target and I got him a new toy with the remainder of his birthday gift cards. I bought him this Magnet School. He really likes it; he immediately started putting the letters/numbers on the fridge and carrying the word cards around the house. I like that: it all fits back into it's tin case, it's educational (right now, I tell him what sound each letter makes), it doesn't make any sort of noise, it doesn't require batteries, it has years of play value.
I am now listening to the book of Job on my ipod. I've listened to 17 books of the Old Testament so far; I'm almost halfway through. Yea!

| First... Pictures
Apparently, putting a bowl on your head is fun!
What? I can't hear you, Daddy!
Take these silly things off me!
Second...the Living Word
For this is contained in Scripture: "Behold, I Lay in Zion a Choice Stone, a precious Corner Stone, and he who believes in Him will not be disappointed."This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, "The stone which the builders rejected, this became the very Corner Stone"and, "A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense"; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word... 1 Peter 2:6-8 Are you offended by believers exhorting you to stop sinning, to follow Christ with everything you are, to live holy? I know I was a few years back when I wasn't following Jesus 100%. I thought I was just being a "free thinker" or had different mindset and that those people were just legalistic, but now I know that I was just "stumbling and offended" because I was "disobedient to the word". Yikes! Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. 1 Peter 2:16 People ask how are we free? Free from sin, but slaves of God!
and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; 1 Peter 2:24
This is so important for us to understand! Christ did not just die that we might believe in Him or trust in Him, but that we might die to sin and live righteously! Easy-believism is no true version of Christianity. Christ did not teach it; he taught complete death to self, then showed us by the ultimate example. The apostles did not teach it; they preached (and lived) the above words.
"Beware of reasoning about God's Word - obey It." - Oswald Chambers "How hard is it sometimes to get leave of hearts to seek God! Jesus Christ
went more willingly to the cross than we do to the throne of grace." - Thomas
Watson Third...This Past Week
This past weekend, my folks came in town for the 4th of July and for my Mama's birthday, the 5th. We had a wonderful time swimming in my grandparents country club pool, eating delicious food, visiting with various members of my family. Saturday, my parents, my grandparents, Joel, Tor and I went to the Dallas Aquarium. It was so much fun, a wonderful exhibit! Tor had fun; my favorite animals were the huge manatees, the dragon horse, and the beautiful spotted rays. We ate at a really delicious restaurant inside the aquarium. We took the DART rail there and back. How precious is time spent with family!
Yesterday, I got to be a hair model for a new colorist at an upscale salon. It was nice; she put three different shades of blonde in my hair. My hair color turned out great, and the best past was it was free! Around here, it would have cost at least $120; she must have put in 50 foils. What a treat it was, as I have only had my hair professionally colored twice in my life (as it's too expensive) and I haven't had it cut since December to save money (I didn't get it cut, just colored). She straighten it, too. It looks cool, but I like my curls. My boy is just so cute lately! He babbles all day long and is really saying things, though they are in his own language. We are working on simple obedience these days; he does a pretty good job and is a joy to me. I love my toddler.

| The Pure Milk
Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation. [1 Peter 2:2]
If you are a mommy like me (or a daddy), this verse has an entire new level of understanding! You see, a newborn infant doesn't just nurse once a day, or even a few times a day, for a few minutes apiece. He eats every few hours, day and night. Neither is he easily distracted; you can offer him a toy, a pacifier (if he'll take one; mine didn't), a blankie, a cuddle, Daddy, whatever, but he will have none of it if he is hungry. He only wants the breast. It's amazing, really, how even from the first few moments out of the womb, the newborn knows where the breast is and how to get to it. He is persistent; he has focus. He will not stop crying until he gets the milk, and he is not satisfied until he is full.
Are we like infants regarding our hunger for the Lord and the Word of God? Is a Sunday sermon enough to last us all week? Will a brief prayer time and Bible reading once a day keep us full? Are we easily distracted from what will truly satisfy us... well, not what, but Who? Do we yearn, long, for the milk of the Word? Do we recognize our need for His nourishment, to take Him in all day long, moment by moment, walking in fellowship with the Holy Spirit?
This was very convicting for me. May we be like babes, may we cry out to be filled by the Lord, may we never be satisfied by any other thing, may we get Jesus's attention by our desire for Him!

| Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. -1 Peter 1:13-19 *******************************************************************
This is such a great passage! I love how Peter points out that the things we as humans value a lot (silver & gold) are perishable, are worthless, in comparison to the priceless precious blood of Christ!
How could Christians read this and not live out complete holiness and obedience? Is is not revealed to them? Do they lack a conscious or shut out God's voice? Perhaps, like I did, they have quit reading the Word altogether...
What do you think it means to "conduct yourselves in fear"? Are you "holy yourselves also in all your behavior"? How if so or if not, why not?

| Piano Playing Baby!

Dear friends, thank you for all the wonderful comments on my last post; I was blown away by the response! I hope I clarified some things for you in my comments.
I am still working my way through listening to the Bible on CD. I am now in II Chronicles. It has been really neat to receive more clarity on the "heroes of the Old Testament"; my favorite so far has been David. He honored God so many times when it would have seemed to the rest of the world justifiable not to (ie: the many times he could have retaliated and killed Saul, but did not). In fact, he really only hugely sinned against God twice (with the account of his adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband, and then when he took the census of Israel.. correct me if I'm wrong.) And each time, when confronted about his wrongdoing, David immediately repented of his sin. I do not wonder that he was called "a man after God's own heart."
May we all be just as quick to repent if we do offend our Lord! May we have hearts soft enough to be convicted! I know that when I was not walking close to Him, I also rarely felt convicted. This was not due to lack of sin, it was due to the callousness of my spirit. That is a scary place to be. I pray none of you, my friends, experience this.
Please keep my family in your prayers; we may be heading for some big changes in our life/lifestyle very soon. We only want to follow the Lord and be obedient to His Great Commission. Sometimes I am too concerned about what our extended family or friends might think. Pray that we will know the direction Jesus is taking us and respond accordingly. Thank you.
