Healthy is Beautiful

I said I wasn't going to update again until I reached a certain amount of comments, but with the overwhelming amount of anorexia featured on xanga something needs to be said. I know my post may not change how you think, I know you may still desire to be rail thin like the "women" plastered on your magazines, but I'm still going to try to change your mind.

THESE ARE NOT REAL WOMEN.

The media is affecting the way we see ourselves. These perfectly tanned and toned toothpicks are making girls everywhere think they are not good enough. YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Healthy is beautiful. Healthy is real.

These girls are not real. They are illusionals, photoshopped on computers to portray the perfect bodies.

Beauty is accepting who you are an loving yourself.

Beauty is not thin.
Beauty is not tan.
Beauty is not large breasts.

Beauty is real.
Beauty is confident.
Beauty is inside and out.
Beauty is loving who you are.

Beauty is YOU

The Basic Needs

Hey guys! I appreciate the comments on the last post! Even only a few comments really mean a lot to me. I said I wasn't probably going to post until Sunday morning, but my plans got cancelled and I'm free to post.

Today my post is going to be on THE BASIC NEEDS. These are things you NEED. This includes wardrobe essentials and makeup must-haves. Now on to the good stuff:

The Basic Needs

Hair

CHEAP:
If your on a budget and have frizzy hair, frizzease is your best friend! They offer "Straight Ahead" and "Curl Around" shampoos, so you can buy which one you want for styling. You can buy this at walmart, along with the conditioner and the styling gel you want. Another great cheap shampoo and conditioner is pantene! Pantene Pro Viatmin (I believe..?) Is also great for all hair types.

EXPENSIVE BUT BETTER: Aquage is probably the greatest shampoo I have ever experienced! It leaves shine and a scent, while your hair is soft and smooth. Some of my favoite products by Aquage are the straightening gel, which you rub in damp hair before blow drying and their heat protecting spray to use while you straighten!

Makeup

Makeup, makeup makeup, so many products, so little time. That's why I'm going to help you out and show you my favorite brands! (I realize that I'm leaving concealer, lipstick, powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and eyebrow pencil out. I will put those in a later post. In fact, there will be a whole post dedicated to those. Foundation, Lipgloss, and mascara to me are just the essentials.)

FOUNDATION:
CHEAP: Maybelline pure makeup is great! It's inexpensive, and can be picked up at your local drugstore. Also, you can order samples of it here: http://puresampling.maybelline.com/
EXPENSIVE: MAC has great foundation. While it's expensive, it provides great cover and is high quality. I personally love their SELECT SP5 15. It's a sunscreen and a foundation. Great for summer!

LIPGLOSS:
Lipgloss is said to be a girl's best friend. I couldn't agree more. But with so many options, which should you buy?
CHEAP: I LOVE Burt's Bees lip shimmers and Bonnebell LipLites. These are very inexpensive, and some of the best drugstore lipglosses around!
EXPENSIVE: Du Wop Lip Venom (Sephora) and Stila Lip Gloss (Sephora.) I don't think I could live without either of them.

MASCARA:
To me a great mascara is incredibly hard to find. But I've tried my best, and here are the results.
CHEAP: Max Factor Lash Lift Mascara.  It's a cheap great mascara!
EXPENSIVE: Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara. Enough said.

Style

(There are only cheap here. No expensive. The Beauty Expert does not believe in expensive clothes so that you can flash designer labels.)

  • A crisp white shirt.
These have been seen all over hollywood for decades! They never go out of style!
Good buy:

  • The denim skirt
Also something that never goes out, the denim skirt! It can be worn with almost anything for a cute look!
Good buy:

  • The wife beater
Stock up in these in every color! They're great for summer and easy to pair with anything! You can find them at pretty much any store.

  • Black Pants
These hide stains and are great for anything! They're so versataille.
Good buy:

A new xanga on a new topic.

Hey kids! This is my new xanga. I've had a few poetry and writing xanga's before, but I've decided to create my love and expertise on makeup into a blog! I'd appreciate any comments and I will return them all. I hate to "whore" my comments, but if you drop by please leave something for me! Thanks xoxo.

Today`s Tips

Hair:

  • I've found that washing every other day is better than everyday if you have dry hair. By washing your hair too much you are actually stripping off your hair's natural oils, which can lead to dry split ends.
  • If your hair is greasy wash every day, and try not to use hair products or conditioner. Make sure to rub shampoo especially into the scalp, because your hair's oils are distributed from the roots.
  • Lemon and cranberry juice can NATURALLY DYE YOUR HAIR. If you want light sunkissed blonde highlights take some lemon in a spray bottle with you to the beach. Spritz in hair and sit in the sun. If you want red highlights (this is for brunnette and black hair. Do not attempt this if you're a blonde. TRUST ME) than do the same with cranberry juice. The result? Gorgeous fresh highlights.

Makeup

  • Eyeshadow can be a very tough process. It's best to have two different sets of colors. One for days (nuetral, naturals) and one for nights (glamorous, bold).
            Blue eyes:
For days you should stick with browns and pinks. These colors will make your eyes pop. At night you can stick with your day colors if your going with a bold lip or you can try something more... glam. Silvers, slates, and lilacs are YOUR COLORS. Never, EVER EVER wear blue eyeshadow. Complete your look always with dark brown eyeliner and mascara.

            Brown eyes:
Your daytime colors should include pinks and light shades of lilac. Always avoid tans and browns. At night you can go with a darker lilac or a shimmery white. Green eyeshadow would also look gorgeous on you. For completing your look you can use black eyeliner and mascara, or if that's too harsh for you stick with dark brown.

            Green eyes:
Pinks will make your gorgoeous greens sparkle! Salmon colors will look very nice, and in some cases very lights brown. Lilac will look spectacular on you for night, or you could tone it down with a light dusting of purple for the day. Never ever wear greens. You should finish this off with brown eyeliner and mascara!

Fashion

  • When picking out outfits, try not to look overly trendy. Sequin purses, ugg boots, leggings, and denim minis all together look over done and too trendy. Try to be yourself!
  • When shopping, you can sometimes get carried away with looks you can never pull off. If it's always cold in your area try to stay away from the light fabric short skirts. Always ask yourself, "Will this look flatter me? When will I wear this? Would I like this if it wasn't trendy? Would I like this if it wasn't for the name brand on it?"

Body and Skincare

  • Never put toothpaste on a zit. This is a myth and it can, in some cases make the problem worse. Never hesitate to go to a dermatologist if you have a lot of acne. No teenager has clear skin, so don't feel alone. We all suffer through zits!
  • A good facial mask is just to put some mashed up banana on your face. This won't make your break out, and it's hydrating and feels great.
  • Water is your best friend. Drink eight glasses a day. Not only is it good for your  skin, it can help you lose weight as well!

Well that's all for today. Tomorow night and Saturday I have plans, but maybe I might update Saturday morning.

The next post will be on the staple items for your hair, makeup, fashion, and skincare. It will be a post not to miss.

And once again, I hate to whore comments but if you stop by please leave something! It takes quite a bit of effort to put this all together!
