| UPDATE!! So...yeah...I finally realized it was time to update... Costa Rica was AMAZING, and I loved it! I met tons of wonderful people, and I have tons of fun pictures, but I am thinking about waiting to post those until I decide whether or not I want to go protected. (I don't mind people stopping by my site--in fact, I like it!--, but I am NOT a fan of reporters using it to contact me for an interview about PHC.( Life here is going well. I never have any time to sleep (up between 4 and 5, home around 8), but I am loving both my internships! Things at the Senate are always lively. So far I've ridden in the underground train with McCain, waited for an elevator with Leiberman, passed Kerry in the hallway, passed Hilary in her office, chatted with Byrd because I didn't recognize him (yeah, yeah), and seen pretty much everyone else--Thune, Hastert, Lott, Obama, Hutchison, etc, etc, etc. I met Jenna Elfman a couple of weeks ago when she was in town lobbying. (Sadly, I missed Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and Don Cheadle, because they all stopped by before my internship started. *sniff*) If you guys want to come out for a visit anytime this semester I will be able to give you the Senate intern deluxe tour of the Capitol. (I'm pretty important now, what can I say?) Hope everyone is doing well! | | |
| Nothing Like an Ego Boost...
So I was sitting in the lunch area at school and there was a little African American boy nearby who is a tiny bit mentally handicapped. When I stood up I heard him gasp, and then he ran over to me and said "WOW, YOU'RE REALLY TALL!!! YOU'RE LIKE A DADDY!" His mother was mortified, so I just said, "Yeah, except I don't have big muscles like daddies do, and I'm a girl." I thought I was going to die laughing!
So then, a few days later, Kimbell and I decided to do some sit ups on our kitchen floor. (It was the only place in our host family's house with enough space for both of us to spread out.) So I threw on some shorts (which I never wear, but I am not about to exercise in jeans!) and strolled out to the kitchen. My host mom was sitting on the floor, and when I walked out she laughed so hard she fell over--literally--and squealed in Spanish "You're legs are so white and so skinny!" Thanks. Like I didn't know. lol
I went parasailing yesterday, so I'll update with pictures from that later. It was AMAZING!
| Picture Post!
Finally, some long awaited photos.
Whitney's Wedding
All the girlies waiting for the big moment

Me and my girlies
Waterfall Rappelling!
Ready! (aka "listos!")
It sure was a good thing we had our spiffy safety helmets while walking. Pretty dangerous stuff!
So, this is me in my sexy helmet. I got the PERSONAL helmet belonging to our guide, complete with reflectors and a spot for mounting a headlight. I know, I know. You wish it could have been you.
These are the little men waiting at the bottom to make sure we didn't die. They thought it was really funny to yank me over farther into the waterfall. Thanks boys.
"Hey everyone, come see how good I look!"
My bulging muscles came in handy!
So I made it to the bottom and I didn't even die!

| GUESS WHAT?!?!?! I GOT MY INTERNSHIP FOR THE FALL!!! I'm not exactly sure of the protocol, and I don't want my blog to get me in any trouble, so I will just say that I will be interning on "The Hill" for a prominent senator. I am so excited!! If you guys need any laws passed, just let me know, cause I'm about to be pretty important.
Costa Rica is still beautiful, I'm working hard to learn Espanol, and life is good.
| Sad news to report. Matthew is now back in California. Better luck next time?
In other news, I rappelled down a 150 foot waterfall today. It was AMAZING! Pictures to follow.
