Today's my Bday!

It started off great with a surprise visit from Psyche, who brought me breakfast in bed (what a PG - awww). It was a damn good bagel for the west coast, but don't get this NJ jew started.

I never really have been a Bday guy, but as Elizabeth says, it's a "celebration of self."  I'm going to have a few people over to BBQ.  Then it's off to the Miller/Gade pad for some foos, The Godfather, and some hot tubbing.  The real celebration will take place on August 28th, post fields, RAGER!

Allister is gone and Casey is here.  Mom arrives tomorrow.

A true college weekend was spent boozing, hot tubbing (surprisingly Gade's hired), and watching Jim Carrey flicks.  "And he said, 'Do you love me?' And she said, 'No, but that's a real nice ski mask!"

I'd like to thank Fudge for coming up big with the airport runs.  I actually got a call from him 15 min after Al's plane had left asking me whether he needed to give Al a ride to the airport.

I took Casey to Zachary's, but she prefers Pete & Elda's in New Jersey.  I don't know if I'd concur, but its damn close.  I think I'm going to agree and vote for the thin crust, but that's mostly just because I grew up on Val's.

Fantasy sports update: Team Paul D leads by 100 points (that's a 300 point swing in the last 2 weeks - just coincidence).  Our football draft is tomorrow.  I still offer up Al for my 5th round pick.

Psyche is gone...  (awwwwww).

But more importantly, Miller is out of town (typical Fishman sweetness followed up by insult).  Translation, I hung out with Gade and Tiana yesterday.  Gade gave me quite possibly the worst hair cut of all time.  Gade, you're fired!  And Fishman, you're fired for letting Gade near your head with clippers.  Luckily, Allister is visiting next weekend, and he really isn't the type that would criticize me.

I've become quite the third wheel.  I'm doing Zachary's tonight and the Bourne Supremacy with Eiki and Christina.  I just can't think of Matt Damon, without thinking of Ben Affleck.  This afternoon, I watched Boiler Room.  The Affleck scene in Boiler Room, according to Allister, is perhaps the worst three minutes of acting in history.  This includes Denise Richards as astrophysics Ph.D. Christmas Jones in James Bond's The World Is Not Enough.

Before Psyche left, we hit up, Yume (Japanese for "dream"), a sushi restaurant that seats about 12 people in Alameda.  The article below ranks it as the East Bay's best sushi.  They did have some really tasty fish, but I think I'm more of a Kirala fan, which has more interesting options for sushi rolls.

Psyche is attending a wedding as part of her East Coast trip and was trying to think of a wedding gift.  I had what I believed to be the perfect gift... Miami Heat tix versus teams with former Dukies (aka a gift incorporating the bond between Psyche and the couple who also went to Duke).  Apparently neither were big Duke hoops fans, and my idea got shot down.

I then told Psyche to check out weddingchannel.com, where many couples register for wedding gifts.  I remember in the fall, when I didn't know the word "register," in the wedding context.  At a dinner party, someone asked Amy, who was recently engaged, what she was going to register for?  I thought the person asked me, and I responded, "219B and 220B."

Wedding Channel was originally an Annie Gilbar project (former CEO).  Apparently Marc's mother, just like Marc, is quite good at her job.

Last night, I went to an Indian pot luck dinner with two econ friends.  Apparently, Indian food is typically eaten with the right hand and naan.  I chuckled to myself with Sundhry, Raj's wife, offered me a fork (but didn't offer one to Day or Raj).  I guess it's not just an HK thing to offer utensils to the out of place white guy.

After a weekend of moving and a trip to Target, Psyche's new apartment is coming along quite nicely.  She's even boiled water there, so it's officially her new pad!
