Well, we've finally finished shooting/travelling for Teman2! I have weekends free now!

And guess what! This week, another one of my best friend announced her engagement! Earlier this year, my girlfriend since primary school, who's now working in the US, told us she was engaged and her wedding will be held in Penang end of this month!! It's still quite unbelievable! It was just like yesterday when we were all still in our turquoise pinafore hanging out together during recess talking about how boys are so troublesome and now one by one, each and everyone's settling down, moving on up the life cycle. It's our generation's turn to move on up I guess..... PLEASE DO NOT ask me when it is it my turn, I get that way too much, and when it is my turn, trust me, I'll let everyone know..

The blissful couple in Vegas!

Anyways, on to other things. I've just been signed on as a Friend of Puma. Before, Puma was more known as a sport brand but now, they're moving into fashion and lifestyle. Not only do they have limited edition racing shoes, they now have exclusive Puma-Evisu jeans, and lots of very pretty tops and dresses! I was pleasantly surprised that they have really nice looking boots as well!

Don't I look just like a professional hiker/peace corp worker....hehehe....far from it....When we were in Taman Negara shooting Teman, we had to hike in the jungle a lot and it was constantly raining. I was really afraid of leeches but this pair of Puma Lutamonte Boots really really helped! Even the cargo pants are from Puma as well. They're really lightweight and dries in no time!

A sample picture I found on the net so you guys can get a closer look at it. Mine's black though.

We had to go hiking one night and it started to pour! We had our ponchos on but everyone else's shoes were soaked, and they had leeches all over their feet! But my trusty Lutamonte kept my feet absolutely dry and leech-free! Made with Gore-Tex tweedlike cloth, it's absolutely waterproof! I think it'll work as winter boots as well, especially if you have to trek through inches of snow. The fleece lining will keep you warm and the goretex will keep you dry.

We're on top of the world!! Well, maybe just on top of Bukit Teresek in Taman Negara

This way! NO! This Way! Mel and I posing posing for our 'tukang ambik gambar' Ted Adnan.

I got this pair of white Puma boots called the Traveller when I attended the KLue Mod Vs Rockers event last month. This was the only picture I managed to snap before I left the house. You know..... last minute makeup and wardrobe check. I was going for the Mod look, do I look it? This red long-ish hoodie is currently my favourite jacket! I haven't actually worn boots since I got back from Australia, but everyone was complimenting my 'uber' cool boots that night, which are actually 'uber' cool golfing boots! I might just take up golfing now since I have the perfect boots for it! hehe....

Ok guys, tomorrow's Mother's Day. To all the mums reading this...Happy Mother's Day! It's one day out of many days to remind you how important you are in all our lives. So instead of always taking care of everyone else, you should be selfish sometimes and pamper yourself always.

My two mamas, my grandmama and my mama!!

Bel

Friday, May 02, 2008

Female Malaysia, May 2008

One of my best covers so far(not that I've had a lot of covers) and it's for one of the best selling women's magazine in the country too!

The accompanying article.

I'm liking the red lippie and the big hair! We had so much fun in Bali last week. Met up with Nirina Zubir, whom some of you might've heard of. She's an Indonesian actress and one of her biggest movie yet here in Malaysia is Heart. She's here this weekend and will be guest hosting on Teman in the final episode. Check out www.teman.com.my for pictures, blogs and even never before seen footage on Teman.

Bel

Sunday, April 20, 2008

Just got back from Taman Negara last night for Teman. And tomorrow, I'll be flying off to Hong Kong to interview a certain Korean pop star who recently made his acting debut in Hollywood. Guess who? hehehe..... So many girls are gonna hate me even more now! What to do? One of the perks of my job....

All this travelling is taking its toll on me though. I'm so physically and emotionally drained, especially working on Teman, I can't sleep at night because I have too many things floating in my head. I have another full week this week and I honestly have no time to even unpack my bag. After coming back from HK on Wednesday, I have a shoot in the morning and I'm emceeing an event at night, not forgetting the Quickie as well. Then on Friday, I'm off to Bali for our final destination outside of KL for Teman. I'm just telling myself...2 more weekends, 2 more weekends and all this will be over. I'll have the weekends to myself again. I haven't seen my grandma for almost 2 months now can you believe it?!?

At the same time, I am grateful that all this is coming my way. It's just a bit overwhelming when I think about it. But at least I have work, nothing else to complain about really. Okla, got to go now. Lots to do. Keep those comments coming in!

Bel

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Tonight's the night!!! It's a travel show sponsored by Olay White Radiance, which I am ambassador of and this year, besides having a new 'teman' in Melissa Maureen, accompanying me on the trips, we'll also be visiting 3 destinations outside Malaysia, namely, Bangkok (Ep.2), Singapore (Ep.5) and Bali (Ep.9). We've already shot 6 episodes so far and we have 4 more to go.

We had a press conference recently and yes, I know I haven't been posting much pictures - that's coz I haven't touched my camera at all in the past 2 months!! - but here are some pictures from Ted Adnan, the professional photographer, who happens to be our official photographer and he goes travelling with us everywhere and takes really amazing pictures of our adventures!

Teman Press Conference (03/04/08)

Yes, being Olay girls, we are required to wear either white or baby blue at any Olay event.

With Zadil, the Public Affairs Manager from P&G, Melissa Maureen and Kim, 8TV's Brand and Communications Manager.

Teman Season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, April 16th, 9:30pm on 8TV.

Here are some shots from the first 5 episodes stolen from Ted's blog!

Enjoying the sunrise up at Bukit Tabur. After the lighting effects, looks more like sunset to me! I know, my face looks a bit weird and old here. This is not my best angle. hehehe....

Taking a dip in Pangkor...

Hosting a link at the most recent destination, Mulu in Sarawak!

In one of the many caves in Mulu National Park. Can't sleep. And I have to be in downtown KL in a couple of hours to catch a coach down to Singapore to shoot for 'Teman'. Might as well just stay up, pack and update my blog.

I was not on the Quickie tonight so I went for 2 events just now and one of it was organised by a magazine. I'm not usually one to make a scene, and you know, I'm used to it, being pure chinese and being treated like a 2nd class citizen, but this incident had me feeling really upset....and stupid. It all started about a week ago when I got a call from a girl from this magazine, inviting me to be one of their "VIP" guests - they'll provide me with wardrobe, hair and makeup - and since I won't be on air tonight, I thought why not, so I told her I'm in.

Minutes later, I got an SMS from this girl saying that unfotunately, the people from the wardrobe sponsor brand has chosen someone else to wear their clothes, but they'll still be delighted to have me as a "Celeb" guest and promise me a goodie bag worth almost RM2000. Ok, fine, I was a bit irked that they didn't figure all this out first before calling me, and I thought, ya, I'm 2nd choice...fine, I get it. I txted her back saying "Ok. Thanks."

At first I thought, maybe I won't go to the magazine event after all because I had another event earlier in the evening. But I found out that my friend Justin was gonna go from this event to that event so I decided to join him. So we went to the event, everything was great, met up with lots of people I haven't seen in a while, and when it was time to go, Justin went to collect his goodie bag, this girl came up to me, in front of a couple other people and told me, that they didn't have anything to give me! I didn't know how to react at first, and my instant reply was just "No problem". Fine, maybe it's a miscommunication, maybe she didn't think I was coming, maybe my message to her was too vague to count as an RSVP. But it really did hurt my feelings, not to mention my ego. To be rejected twice. And it's not like I'm a freeloader or anything, I just feel like I was treated like I've just crashed the party! I guess if I was a real bitch I would've said something there and then. I guess that's why I should have a manager to take care of situations like these.

It's all over now and I'll get over it by tomorrow. But if you were me, what would you've done?

Bel

Monday, March 10, 2008

Just got back from Pangkor with a bit of a sun burn. But today is one of the few days since I got back from Japan that I've been relatively free. So I thought I'd put it all up here before I forget or get too busy. Anyways, here are some pictures from CNY back in Kuching and my trip to Japan.

This time around, I catched up with family, mostly. Went visiting with my parents quite a bit but I saw quite a bit of Angie also.

Here we were at MOJO, one of the nights we went out, with Gerald, the owner, Eng Hong, an old friend from high school days and Angie.

Final day in Kuching, we were at my Grandma's place taking family pictures. Me and my grandmama!

One of the family. From L-R: My cousin-in-law, Jess, Aunty Teresa, Cousin Alex, Dad, Granny, Mum, Myself and Aunty Angela.

JAPAN

Day 1: Osaka

We arrived Kansai Intl Airport in the morning to and went straight to Universal Studios. It was about 5 degrees that day and I was way under-dressed to be walking outdooors. Joe and I both had our cameras so these are just some of the pictures from my camera.

Elmo!!

Sunset view of Osaka from my hotel room window

Day 2: Osaka - Kyoto

In the morning, we had a photo stop at Osaka Palace.

It was raining and the temperature dropped even more. I was practically freezing my fingers and toes off.

We took the bullet train to Kyoto which was about 30km from Osaka. We got there in 10 minutes. You can't feel the speed at all sitting inside the train. Only when you look out and see how fast things are zooming by that you know you're travelling around 300k/h.

Kyoto is famous for Geishas. And we were brought to this street filled with tea-houses where all the real-life geishas work.

I forgot the name of the street but it's located downtown Kyoto.

We were lucky because we actually caught climpse of a real-life geisha walking the street, on the way to work.

Here she is, all decked out and speeding off to the tea-house she works in.

We had a 'Sumo' dinner after that in this stemboat place. This place serves the staple of sumo fighters, consisting of a steamboat filled with lots of fish, seafood and vegetables. It was great! I'll try to get the pics from Joe's cam.

Day 3: On the way to Gifu from Kyoto.

My first glimpse of Mt Fuji

We stopped at this park to take pictures of Mt Fuji. This was definitely the high point of the whole trip. Mt Fuji is just breath-takingly magnificent. I took so many pictures of the Mt Fuji and here are 2 of my favourites.

This was lunch..

We stopped at this dormant volcano which spews out sulfide gas from the ground. The main reason why we were here was to sample the Black Egg or Kuro Tamago. They cook regular chicken eggs in the volcanic groundwater and the eggshell turns black. Apparently, they claim that these eggs have regenerative qualities, e.g. If you eat one egg, you will increase your life by 7 years and if you eat two eggs, you will live 14 years longer. I only had 1, so hopefully I'll be able to live another 7 years on top of my pre-destined longevity.

We arrive at Gifu, a resort town where people come to ski and just get away from the city and we were placed in this Natural Hot Springs resort with traditional Tatami rooms. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go dip in the hot springs because I was too shy to share a pool with a bunch of naked women. hehehe... But we did have an amazing dinner here wearing the Yukata, or the Japanese traditional clothings. Almost everyone wore it in and around the resort.

View from my room window of a sea, I don't remember the name of this sea now.

Day 4: Tokyo
Got into Tokyo by coach and we went straight to Ginza, the most expensive shopping area in Tokyo with all the high end brands.

This is one of the scenes in downtown Tokyo, I feel like it looks very New York-ish.

A monk in Ginza

Ginza

Tokyo by night from a ferris wheel in Otaiba.

Shinjuku

Shinjuku is the red-light district in Tokyo and I was pleasantly surprised that besides 'whoring' out girls, the Japanese guys are very open minded in 'whoring' themselves out too!! I think they have about 20 lines all mesh together underground and if we didn't enlist the help of a local, I think we would'nt know where to go.

Joe and I outside Hard Rock cafe Tokyo

We wanted to try authentic Ramen so we stopped by this shop which was fully automated, we had to order by pushing buttons on a machine and then we were shown to our cubicles, where our noodles will appear from underneath a curtain. It was pretty freaky eating by myself in a cubicle, I almost felt like I was at a library.

Day 6: Back to KL

On the way to the airport, I manage to snap a picture of Tokyo Tower.

Overall, it was an enjoyable trip, although it was pretty rushed because we were on tour with a whole bunch of other people, older people. Japanese people are definitely polite, but I feel like they're a bit cold, not as warm as how some of us asians might be towards our guests. It definitely a place I'd like to visit again sometime in the near future. This time I'll go minus the tour and try to see more of Tokyo.

By the way people, I've begun shooting for Teman Season 2, last weekend. From this weekend on, I'll be travelling around Malaysia and certain places in South East Asia for this season of the travelogue and I'm travelling with a new friend this time!! If you want to find out more then you'll have to watch Teman 2 on 8TV premiering 16th April at 9:30pm.

Ok, that's about it for now. Please take care and until my next post, keep those comments coming in.

Bel

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

Hello People!!

Just a quick one to wish all of you love, health, peace and prosperity this coming year of the Rat!
