The Not-Quite Ready for Prime Time Players

It would take an English online newspaper to compile a list of the best political parodies currently on the Net.  (Oh why can't the American ones joke like that?)  Scroll down the comments for more links.

YouTube is of course another source but also check out the Funny or Die video site:  http://www.funnyordie.com/

People here are getting so desperate for the official announcement of our election, so caught up in the bunting and posters and balloons, that there are two front yard signs for the Obama campaign in my neighbourhood. I hope no one on my election day asks the Returning Officer why Obama isn't on our ballot.

Music Charms the Savage Breast

Heart reportedly objects to the use of their song "Barracuda" by the Republican National Convention, which use they apparently did not approve.  Raises an interesting question about copyright, approval, appropriation, misappropriation, campaign strategy but how funnily ironic is the choice.  Did anyone on the planning committee bother to read the lyrics?

The refrain:

If the real thing dont do the trick
No, you better make up something quick
You gonna burn burn burn burn it to the wick
Ooooooohhhh, barra barracuda.

I wonder if the Canadian election will prove as absurd.

The new reality TV show: So You Think You Can Be VP?

With no official annoucement of the Canadian election--but lots of money announced for key ridings--we are left to scraps from the American campaign.

We are waiting to hear if the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will monitor this slug fest to ensure that no animals are harmed in the production.

Gotta know when to hold 'em, when to fold, and when the dealin's done

Ladies and gentlemen, if you are of a betting persuasion, place your bets:

http://www.intrade.com/  (Sarah Palin to be withdrawn as Republican VP nominee/candidate before 2008 presidential election; there are also bets being taken on the odds of Obama or McCain becoming president. Currently odds are 60% for Obama, 40% approx for McCain.)

And for today's cartoon caper:

Now, up here in the Great White North (not to be confused with Alaska), our hockey mums are just as serious about the game but they do not take to the ice.  We know that would incur a most serious penalty such as forfeiture of the game or even the entire season for the club.  No, our most notorious Hockey Mum is a Mississaugan who was banned from all her son's games because she flashed her bare boobies at the opposing team's bench.  Who said Canucks are boring?

Cats are independent

With both an American and likely a Canadian election this fall, who can watch silently? --an occasional blog dedicated to good giggles according to the finest tradition of catty humour.

Lego levels the playing field:
