Marv

robyear1-48

My father-in-law, Marv, passed away today about 4:40 pm.  Everybody in this picture was with him during the last hours (except the little guy in the front with the sideways hat, Dan. Although Dan and Jamie came to see him on Saturday.) Also Dustin was with us, who is now the husband of the cute little girl Jen in the front,  Marv is in the middle in the back row.

It was precious to see him surrounded by his family at the end.  This picture was in September 1990, when Ed and I, Rob and Dan were getting ready to leave CA and move back to my home in Indiana.  Eventually everybody else followed us out here.  It's been a rough road.  It will be a hard week emotionally.  Thank you to everyone who has prayed and supported us.  We appreciate it so much.  I used to like to hear him sing this song:

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

Rob is home!  I'm thankful so many answered prayers.

Ed's dad went home for the hospital briefly last Wed., and was going to have home hospice and nurse visits.  He was still very weak but was able to walk a little with a walker.  But on Fri morning he was unresponsive and he was taken back to the hospice facility.  They are taking any heroic measures, just keeping him comfortable.  He has been unconcious the whole time.  So his time seems to be here, with the family keeping a watching vigil.  Thanks for friends for prayers for strength and comfort for our family.  My FIL's name is Marv and MIL is Cynthia.  They made some funeral arrangments this weekend.  Pretty hard thing for Rob to come home to.  Times like this make us realize how much we need to lean and rely on God and trust him with everything!

Psalm 46

 1 God is our refuge and strength,
       an ever-present help in trouble.

 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
       and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

 3 though its waters roar and foam
       and the mountains quake with their surging.
       Selah

 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
       the holy place where the Most High dwells.

 5 God is within her, she will not fall;
       God will help her at break of day.

 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
       he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

 7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
       the God of Jacob is our fortress.
       Selah

 8 Come and see the works of the LORD,
       the desolations he has brought on the earth.

 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
       he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
       he burns the shields with fire.

 10 "Be still, and know that I am God;
       I will be exalted among the nations,
       I will be exalted in the earth."

 11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
       the God of Jacob is our fortress.
       Selah

Busy week!

jamieanddan

Dan and our future daughter-in-law Jamie.  Isn't this a precious picture?  I stole it from her Facebook, and I think it was taken in Michigan where the wedding is going to be.

I haven't posted much because I am busy with all kinds of stuff!  I went to Chicago on Mon-Tues for Jamie's bridal shower.  That was fun but a tiring drive up and back.  Then I have been working on plans for the wedding rehearsal dinner.  Now also working on plans for next week, bluebird booth at the Boone Co Fair starting on Fri.  So had to write up a newsletter today to send out.  Also working things for Rob and college!  Sheesh!  Rob comes home on Sat night! He has been back in Colorado about 1 1/2 weeks after the trip to Liberia.

Here are some pictures of Rob taken in Liberia, W. Africa.  These touch my heart.  I'm proud of you Rob.  And thankful to God for answered prayers.
