"On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed."Thomas Jefferson to Supreme Court Justice William Johnson, June 12, 1823

Why do Americans think they can do anything at all about Darfur?  Seems to me the height of arrogance and ignorance.  This is not a new struggle and it is not something we can really help without a full scale military invasion.  And, as we all know, military intervention to end mass murder is only acceptable to the world community and domestic liberals if a Democrat president sends in the troops.

Baaaah.

This is what happens when I am in school: I do not go to the range.  But I still buy ammo when I find deals.  Sadly most of this (plus more stored and not pictured) will be spent at the range in July.  We are planning a big outing for a day.  Friends are coming and they are bringing guns and ammo for my stuff and theirs.  My ammo is up to be used in their weapons as well.  I might be able to get Sheila and her husband Ryan to come out with us as they will have moved in from Aviano AB, Italy by then.  Apparently Charley may go and shoot skeet.  I think Zach wants to shoot skeet as well.  The first time I shot a gun was with Adam and they were shooting clay disks, so I'll let them deal with that stuff.  There are no rapid fire restrictions at the public range!  Woo hoo!

All the magazines in the pic below are full.  Most of the ammo boxes are full, too.  The ammo can is full of about 300 rounds of 7.62x39, 440 rounds of .223, and about 20 rounds of 7.62x54R.  A few boxes of .45 ACP and 38 special.

Like I said, it should be a lot of fun.

Wow, the tv just switched to the "Emergency Alert System" for a tornado warning.  It's for about 25 miles north of me though.  Haven't seen this happen since a few hurricane seasons ago (you know, before global warming when we got hurricanes).

Leave for France on the 21st.  I'll be taking tons of pictures and will be posting them here or on my photobucket account.

I hate finals.  I don't want to take them cause I don't really care about law school.  Oh well.  I'll study more and I'll do fine like I always do and I'll get my law degree and probably never use it, haha.

Here are some pics of the 1911 as it sits now.  I removed the drop in grip safety because of the memory bump.  The Clark's I want has a GI contour and I want to be able to be proficient with that.  Like I said below, though, there may be no Clarks available, so I'm looking into other options.  Maybe King's Gun Works.  We shall see.

This shows my modified GI grip safety I used to clear the commander hammer and the King's thumb safety.
