I drove a 34.5 foot U-Haul today.
I am a rockstar!

Added to my favorite musics - Nick Drake was a groovy old soul.
That's all I have the energy for today.
Peace

In what ways are you similar to your mother?

  1. We both have long, brown, graying hair,
  2. blue eyes,
  3. and Irish freckles.
  4. We love music
  5. and clogs,
  6. singing,
  7. (especially in store aisles)
  8. mysticism,
  9. leftover spaghetti (I'm loving it right now),
  10. BOOKS (though she reads more than I do),
  11. libraries and museums of all kinds,
  12. animules,
  13. strange names for things,
  14. cute boys,
  15. games,
  16. and witty banter.
  17. We're both on the shy side;
  18. at least we get nervous in public,
  19. and we have embarrassing nervous laughs.
  20. We love Xanga
  21. and good food.
  22. We have many of the same friends.
I also recognize that some traits skip a generation.  Her grandmother was a wild smartass, and I admire both women greatly.  I take after her mother and my dad's mother - I'm not as savvy about the everyday stuff.  The grandmothers and I sometimes let books get the better of us.  But we're all very devoted people, sometimes to a fault.

There are a few differences: I don't smoke or drink (much), I am bigfoot (where she has pretty little feet), and I have massive hips and ass.  She has a green thumb where I am pleased that one of my plants has sprouted green things!

Tonight we will watch Jeopardy together and talk about things we have in common.  We will probably say several things together at the same time, as will my dad and I.  I am a happy combination of the two, and they've done me well.  Happy Mother's Day!

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

U.S. military servicemen will now get 21 days paternity leave.  They don't have to be married, but they do have to claim the child as a dependent.  Adoptive parents of either sex also get 21 days' leave.  Yay!

"One Headlight" by The Wallflowers
"Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" and some other stuff by Bob Dylan, his pappy
"Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin
"Love of My Life" by Santana, featuring Dave Matthews
"Nulla in Mundo Pax Sincera" by Vivaldi and sung by a gorgeous mezzosoprano

This list will grow - oh yes.

Great hair day and a good cup of tea.
No exercise last night, but we finished watching the 1997 Masterpiece Theatre version of Rebecca and had some healthy and well-portioned dinner.

I am excited that tomorrow mum and I travel to Queen City to help a couple of friends move.

I love the rain - more than most people, I'm sure.
But how am I supposed to bike in it?

End o' semester data entry to do. Then the other boss has some actual manuscripts for me to work on. I'll go home and we'll watch a movie or two, make some bison spaghetti, and hit the gym if Steve is so inclined (I'm guessing not). Then I get to read!!!

Techno Fair today.  Which means it was like a field trip at work

Came home earlyish and now I'm being a domestic goddess.  I turned on the laptop to turn on some music, but of course I got distracted by things like Scrabble and blogging.  You evil people!

Yesterday I didn't do any heavy exercise, but I took my best friend to dinner (she got a salad, I got a black bean burger and salad... but we both got a bit of tortilla soup, which is mostly just cheese).  Then the exercise part - I made her walk with me to my library - and I picked out two books for her to check out - Dahl's Matilda (which I'm ashamed she had never read) and Anderson's Catalyst.  The latter is good, quick YA.  ... and four books for me, of course.

Today it's raining on and off - absolutely gorgeous, though!  Kaylee and I sat on the porch after lunch.  She sat on my lap and looked around while I spied on a small rabbit sleeping in the tall grass.

I had tilapia, green beans, and half an ear of corn for lunch.  Made some green chai and it's in the fridge chillin'.  I like the spices and don't need to sweeten my tea.  Plain iced makes me happy.  Sometimes I'll put in soy milk, but that's mostly on cold days.  I don't have any soy milk at home at the moment anyway.

Doing laundry and some light cleaning.  Maybe I'll do some yoga later, since the rain will prevent biking and I don't want to drive eight miles to go to the gym.

Tomorrow Steve doesn't work, but I'm having him pick up food at his store tonight for cooking for dinner tomorrow.  We have a fish fillet here that I said we could split, but he did not sound enthused.  So I suggested bison spaghetti and veggies.  He asked if that was diet friendly, and I said it'd be okay if he got "good" pasta and lots o' veggies.  It feels good to be good.  Or at least moderate

Pappadeaux and Cold Stone ice cream cake for my birthday in about three months.  You're welcome to join us.  You get to pay for your own seafood, but I'll give you a piece of ice cream cake for free because I like you

Oh yeah, one more thing.  I got a CD and note from Portland yesterday from a guy named Curt.  I don't think I know any Curts.  Any ideas?
