| What the heck are you doing now, Angel?I've become a financial advisor. Yep. You need a loan, mortgage, consolidation, life insurance, investments (retirement, mutual funds, rollovers, annuities), even income?... I'm your (wo)man. What a change, hunh? Actually, no, not at all, but that's because I'm a little unusual. I've come to realize that I don't do things the way people expect me to do things, and because of that, I know that I'll always be looked down upon, even when that gaze is unintentional. But that doesn't get me down, in fact, it gives me drive because I love proving people wrong (if it's for something good, that is). I actually got into this because of the education. I wanted to learn how to manage my own money; be wise in what the Lord has given me. And I believe within the first two months, I learned just that. And then some. I do have to say, though, that at the beginning, I wasn't sure at all whether I should do this. I mean, I was thinking the same thing as some people do when I tell them about my occupation: what does this have to do with social welfare/work? But God knew exactly what I would be thinking and He knew exactly what I needed to see and to hear to follow Him down this path. He's pretty good like that. Oh, so my company is called Primerica, a subsidary of Citigroup. Some of you may know the name. For some of you, it may conjure up good feelings, for others, ill-feelings, and still some, no feelings. That doesn't surprise me because one of the things I love about this company is that it depends on the agent. See, each Primerica office is independently run, and even within each office, each agent does things a little differently. The reason why I said that God knew exactly what I needed to see and hear is because many of the Primerica offices located in my area (yes, Rancho Cucamonga and its surrounding cities) mainly push life insurance. I didn't get into this to become a life insurance saleswoman and I refuse to be labeled as one. This brings me to my office. The regional vice president of my office always stresses the importance of doing the right thing. If your client doesn't need it, don't push a sell on them. Teach them about their finances so that they can make educated decisions for themselves. Educate them on what's out there (the good and the bad) so that they don't get themselves into trouble again. Our RVP always makes sure that we know what the original purpose of Primerica is: helping people get out of debt and become financially independent so that they can begin to dream about the future again, whether it be purchasing that retirement home in Florida or taking an Around-the-World cruise or being able to say, "told you so" to whomever it may be. When the farthest they can think is to their next paycheck so that they can pay off last months bills, that's not financial freedom. In other words, we're giving financial control back to our clients. I think that's why I love my office so much because we haven't lost our way. Going back to the basics always keeps me grounded. When I make things too complicated (which, sadly, is often), I have to force myself to take a step back and refocus. Why did I do this in the first place or what was the original motive? The fundamental message of Christianity is love. God's love for us. The intent of Eggster is to show children the many opportunities that open up when they pursue higher education. Social Welfare? To help those in need. Primerica? To get people to dream about their future again. Keep it simple. There's already too many people out there making things more complicated (and we do need some of those people as well), but I don't need to add to that. So there it is. That's what I'm doing. I'm still working at the Gap part-time as well as catering part-time, but I don't plan on doing either of those much longer. I want to build up my business. Oh, that's the other thing. People who work with Primerica, they're actually independent business owners contracted specifically to Primerica. What does that mean? It means you own your own business, but you don't have to pay any administrative costs or pay any employees because you don't have any. You can hire people, but headquarters pays them. It's a pretty sweet deal. So yeah, that's me. If you're still reading this, thanks for wanting to know about my life. That really means a lot to me. Now, if you are still reading this, I need your help. If you are someone who needs or wants the services listed at the very beginning or know of somebody who needs or wants those services, please tell me. As I mentioned before, I really want to build up my business and in order for me to do that, I need to get my name out there. Thanks, in advance. Any questions, you know how to contact me.
