Our debate club this year has done amazingly well at tournaments. The four teams that we have competing at tournaments this year have all qualified for regionals! That's never happened before, last year we only had 1 team out of 7 qualify. So this is great. This year we've had several teams stop debating, etc., but for the teams that have stuck with it, its definitely payed off.

There were 80 teams, 28 broke. We went 5-1, high seed.
In double octas we debated Jared Canfield and Peter Villum, negative.
Lost on a 2-1 decision (probably should have been closer to 3-0 in their favor... but we had fun)
Ouch. They ended up winning the tournament.
18th place team overall.
Kyle got first and second place in OO and Persuasive, qualifying him for nats.
HuZzah!
(It was fun, and we did great, what more could I ask for?)

Masters

Well! Masters is over =( It was very much fun. I got to drive alot of people insane with my awesome powers of annoyance. No not really, I think most people tolerated me. Most.
Anywayyy it was very very good, the classes were very very good, I didn't even fall asleep once during a class--which is an amazing accomplishment for me. Now I just have to work on taking more effective notes. Hehe.

So I partnered with Brandon Smith from Texas. Which is pretty cool... cause I sort of knew him... or atleast I knew who he was. So yeah since neither of our partners could come we were randomely partnered for the tournament. Yeah! And we got second place debate team, he got 10th place speaker, and I got 5th speaker. Which is pretty strange... cause he spoke way better than me, and because I was pretty sure we lost one round for sure. (the top 8 teams were all 4-0)
The award for second place is amazing, I'll post a picture of it eventually. For now here are just a few pics from masters... I'll post more later today possibly... yes.

Yeah there were some pretty awesome costumes at the banquet... I didn't have one.

MY AMAZING SECOND PLACE AWARD! LOL... yeah... since NATO is like a miltitary organization... the cfc staff got a little carried away... with making these awards... but I'm glad they did cause this is the BEST trophy I've ever recieved from any debate tournament. Ever.

So I'm going to masters for debate week... tomorrow... or today =p I find this really hard to believe. I've always wanted to go... but mostly just cause I usually know alot of people there, and so now I'm wondering what to expect as far as.. what actually happens =p. It seems like it should be lotsa fun, and I hope I learn some cool stuff about the topic, and debate in general.

Today... we did crazy stuff with Jon, Matt, Damien, Stephen... and myself. I think we were trying to record ourselves doing the stupidest things imaginable--such as tying a rope from the handle of a wagon to a fence at the top of a hill... and riding down. And tying a chain from the fence to your stomach and riding bike down a hill... also not good for your health. Having to watch it all on video afterwards... wow.

I'll hopefully be able to get some pics from masters and stuff... and bring them back to y'all.

Well, we were at a tournament in Madison Wisconsin this weekend, and we are now going to regionals! That's the good news. The bad news is that we were 16th seed with a 3-3 record, so the curse of going 3-3... is still... with us... haha. that makes 4 straight tournaments with 3 wins and 3 losses. The other good news is that in octifinals we beat the top seed (Jonathan Wright and Heather Zupancic) on a 3-0 decision with our affirmative case. We really didn't feel all that confident during or after the round, and we just were not sure if we had won. But we did... which was strange because... in quarter finals (top 8 teams) we went on to debate Jonathan Dinsemore and Michelle Wright, who were also very good, but we felt that we had beat em' for sure. Turns out we lost on a 2-1 decision. Oh well. We accomplished what we wanted to...qualified for regionals. Kyle (debate partner) also got second place speaker award, and in speech he took first in apologetics, second in impromptu, and second place in Original Oratory.
So all in all it was a very good tournament for us, and alot of fun too! haha... many funny stories.
And I have pictures this time, which I shall post soon.

So new years was pretty eventful.
We went to gull lake for the weekend, and met up with some old friends that we know from the week long family camp/bible conference there. It was pretty awesome, I almost went to jail. Well, not really. Each night I did something to scare my sisters, who decided to stay at a different cabin/house/thing than us. So the first night I hid in the crawl space... and they heard somebody down there... and they were quite quite scared. Booya.
The second night I scared them even worse... which is pretty funny cause I thought they'd figure that it was me. BUT THEY DIDN'T. So I was on the roof... making lots of noise... they were screaming... and the neighbors decided that I was a wacky criminal. They all filed out of their house (the neighbors) and yelled that they were going to call 911. So I told them not to. The end. They were quite angry with me...

Then on new years eve me and jon lit of fireworks and drank sparkling grape juice, yeah. And we took some pretty awesome pictures...

It's that time again

And there is very little food!
Usually this time of year... there's food everywhere you look, not just any food... but good food. It's the only time of year that I can count on to provide me with the perfect food, in abundant quantities! Thanksgiving-Christmas: The time of year in which there must always be christmas cookies and chocolate (and sometimes even candy corn) available 24/7.

The meals are good, thanksgiving dinner was very delectable (did I just say delectable?) but its more at the stores. I was in whole foods the other day... and they ALWAYS have samples for me to eat, year round. When my mom goes shopping there I always come in instead of waiting in the car... because I know I can get some free, good food. I was in whole foods yesterday... I found like 2 samples! And they were chips and dip! And disgusting tasting cheese! And I'm sure you all know what kind of samples to expect from this place... when I go in, I am expecting to get samples of steak... pizza... usually some hot chocolate or apple cider... lots of fruit samples.... yesterday? NOTHING!

This is supposed to be the season of giving... and whole foods apparently had nothing to give =(
