Series: Meditations on Colossians

Meditation 1: WORSHIP JESUS (see Colossians 1:13-23)
Jesus is incomparably great. Before there was time, before the world began, God the Son was with God the Father in eternal glory. The Father and the Son worked together in the creation of the universe: the Father created all things through and for his beloved Son. The Son is sovereign and supreme over all creation. At a point in time, the Son entered the creation and became a man – Jesus of Nazareth. How do you describe a man who is fully God? How do you describe the divine Son after he took on human flesh?

Of the invisible God, the Lord Jesus tells,
And in Him the fullness of deity dwells.

Why did the Son of God stoop to our weakness and become a man? He did so in order to reveal the Father to us and reconcile us to the Father. So if you want to know the Father, cast your gaze to Jesus. If you want to be reconciled to the Father, come to Jesus, who conquered sin and death. If you want to be in sync with the Father’s purpose for the universe, honor the one whom the Father loves. Worship Jesus.

“O Christ, our hope, our heart’s desire,
Redemption’s only spring!
Creator of the world art Thou,
Its Savior and its King.”

Great Falls Hike, September 29

We'll be heading up to Great Falls for a hike, meeting at BridgeWay at 10:00 Saturday morning, September 29.  If you haven't been up to Great Falls, it's a fantastic view of the Potomac making its way down stream.  There are usually kayakers trying to ride the falls.  If you have been before, you know September is a great time to visit.  Dave Flanders has more information.

Our folks have had lots of summer adventures.  Dave Flanders is inviting folks to his place on Saturday, the 25th--a time to compare notes and jump in the pool.
