We´re back in the City! We were all sad to leave the house at the foot of the volcanos. But we´re back at my grandma´s house...

On Saturday I found out that I would have the opportunity to run a VBS style project for about 45 boys at the Hogar... They are on their equivalent of Spring Break and about to bust with energy... So I had about 48 hrs to throw a program together. Surprisingly, I wasn´t a bit stressed... Isn´t God faithful??

I often sense spiritual warfare going on... Praise God that He is mighty. We truly appreciate your prayers...

On Sunday night I got a call from our friends in Antigua that they were going to make the trek in by bus to come and help with the Hogar! What an answer to prayer... Now there would be 5 of us for 50 kids. ;) Then, on Monday morning, my aunt told me that another group of Americans would be stopping by... Turned out to be a great missions team from a evangelical church in NE. What a blessing to have them there to round up the 94 kids (ok... so I slightly miscounted... heh. I  was never good at math...)

It was so encouraging to see God answer prayer... At this point, I´m on my own for the rest of the week, but somehow I don´t feel overwhelmed... We´re off to a good start... However that doesn´t mean that we don´t still need you to pray for us... Sometimes it seems like when you start winning, one has a tendency to relax. But the Battle is far from over. :)

From the Valley of Volcanos

Thank you so much for praying for us!! I'm sorry that I haven't been able to write sooner... Our internet time is turning out to be very limited. You know it's withdrawal when you start thinking in Facebook taglines...

There are Certain Ones of you who should come down and drive here. No speed limits anywhere. There are suggestions to slow down when you come to curves on the mountains... But if you forget (or your breaks go out) you can just go onto one of the speed ramps with lots of sand and gravel to help you s-l-o-w down.

We're in Antigua for a week of school. We sat down the other night a realized that over 9 days we'd slept in 5 different places -- Which makes us all the more grateful to be here for a whole 6 days. :)

The Lord provided a place for us to stay in the home of a dear lady who we've never met but she's known my grandmother since forever and told us we could stay in her home which is right outside of Antigua. It's a little too far for us to walk, so we have arranged for a tiny, three wheeled taxi called a tuk-tuk (pronounced 'took took.' it's basically a three wheeled bike with a back seat meant for two) to pick up us four older ones for school.

It's been nice to be back in Antigua... It's starting to feel like an old stomping ground. I know where the bakery is, the best place to go for medicine, and where to rent a motorcycle.

God has been so good to us... By this time on our last trip, we'd gone through a huge bottle of pepto bismol.  But we have been relatively healthy. I feel like there's cold that keeps trying to catch me, but it hasn't caught me yet...

Rebecca nearly well, praise God. We were able to make a quick trip to Xela (SE-la), my mother's home town to see relatives... Our hearts ache for the great needs we saw there. Sometimes it's so hard to be here such a short time.

We haven't been able to make it back to the Hogar... We had a last minute doctor's appointment that kinda put a kink in our plans. But we hope to go back on Monday...

It rains here everyday... Which makes for gloriously huge mud puddles. The thunder is louder than any other thunder I've EVER heard...

A wonderful blessing was finding some dear American missionaries sent to Guatemala by our former church. They welcomed us into their home. They even fed us chocolate cake!

It's been so wonderful to see how God continues to use us and open doors for us despite us being sick and such.  We continue to covet your prayers...

This weekend, we will return to the city. Please pray that we will be a good witness to all who see us... I feel like we on are exibit 24/7. Which is a great responsibility...

Please pray for opportunities to witness... To build relationships... To share Christ. At times we feel such a great opposition... But God is always faithful. There is truly no greater power than prayer.

Must sign off for now... Our tuk-tuk should be here anytime now...

The Adventures Keep Rollin´In...

We thank you for praying us... We haven´t haven´t had internet access as easily as last time or else I would´ve updated earlier... We are alive and eating beans and tortillas like they´re going outta style.

Yesterday we went to the Hogar. It was really special to see their faces light up as we drove up in the van along with huge bags of sugar and rice. (hurray for not having to wear seltbelts!) Daddy was able to look over their computers and fix several and perform surgery on others. We hope to go back soon... Please pray that I will have chances to talk to the kids one-on-one.

The Little Sister is sick... We think it´s a virus she must´ve picked up on the plane. She didn´t even feel well enough to go make tortillas... We had to cancel to trip to my mother´s hometown for the rest of the week. However that does mean we can go to the Hogar again to tomorrow... We know that God´s plans are so much bigger that ours...

My time is about to run out so I´m going to sign off for now... Thank you so much for praying for us!!

From a ritzy hole in the mall that puts the barbershop internet hole to shame,

BLAST OFF (again)

Mrs. Beaver of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe once said,

"if there's anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they're either braver than most or else just plain silly."

My Younger Although Taller Sister says that the same thing applies to sleeping the night before a three week trip overseas with eight people and 16 suitcases. ;)

Disclaimer: Lest you think we're taking suitcases of just shoes and purses, less than half of the checked baggage is for us... The rest is for other needs. :)

We covet your prayers for us as we return to Guatemala to visit family, enroll for a week of school in Antigua, travel around the country, and, of course, stop by the Hogar.

Please pray that

- we will be healthy, (We're all 'shot up' but still have to be careful)

- no accidents (last time, the Littlest Brother fell and bit his tongue clean through!)

- we will take every opportunity to share Christ with whomever the Lord brings across our path.

Thank you so much for praying for us. Truly, there is no greater power than prayer...

Surrounded by suitcases of all sizes,

Elizabeth

What is Help?

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Is. 41:10

Help is

- when you fall down and scrape your knee and someone helps you up. Janie. Aged 5.

- when something is too heavy to carry... And someone comes and shares the load. John. Aged 9.

I love teaching Children's Church... They teach me so much about God.

My Heavenly Father is there to help me up when I have fallen 'and scraped my knee'...

And, as one Grows Up, one learns that there are some things 'too heavy to carry'... That's why there's Someone else to carry the load.
