Silvana Deluigi

On May 17, we listened to "Nestalias" by Silvana Deluigi.  The song is very simple, it is just one instrument and vocals.  To learn more on the artist please  click on the link. http://www.fild.de/ufart/SiDeE.html

Today in class we listened to a tango.  The piece was called "Liber Tango" by Astor Piazzolla.  We listened to the live version in class.  If you would like to learn more on Astor Piazzolla please click on the link.

We also watched a video on the start of Rock & Roll in the 50's.  I found a fun web page that gives you all kinds of information about the 50's. The picture above is of Alan Freed, a Cleveland DJ.(Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, 1986). He started playing Black R&B tunes. "Freed moved his show to New York in 1954 and began including live performances, especially of the artists with the vocal harmonies he favored. His called this sound Rock and Roll. Fittingly, he is the first Rock DJ. And many consider his Moondog Coronation Ball, held March 21st, 1952 in Cleveland, to be the very birthdate of Rock and Roll."
