What better way to end a rotation than with good food and a good ol' pumpkin party!

and 1/2 month of psych and 1/2 month of family med. It's been good so
far. The 1st month of geriatrics was in Pompano, so I had the
priviledge to live on Pompano Beach at Grandma's condo!! It was a
great feeling coming home just before sunset, walking across the street
and digging my toes in the sand. Grandma and I had our daily ritual of
eating dinner, atching Jeopardy and chewin' the fat in b/w
commercials. It was nice and homey ^.^
For these last two months, I've had my weekends off to relax and be a
bum and/or study. I need to do more studying...but shopping and going
out somehow seem more appealing ;)
Here are a few updates:
the roommate...asking her whether she was having some GI issues.
"Well, not so much"...then suddenly she darts off in the the other
direction. It hit!!!
Something is giving me and the roommate the runs.

Apparently it's not the basil:
"Traditionally, basil has been used as a medicinal plant in treatment of
headaches, coughs, diarrhea, constipation, warts, worms, and kidney
malfunctions. "

Maybe it was the cheesecake:
"Though you may be tempted, you should also avoid cheesecakes and
meringue pies while in Nepal. Salmonella bacteria favor these two items." We're not in Nepal, but Salmonella's everywhere!!

Maybe it was the pre-made chicken strips laced with arsenic?!
"FOR ENVIRONMENTALISTS and some public health experts,
one of the most puzzling practices of modern agriculture is the
addition of arsenic-based compounds to most chicken feed."
...then again it was Tyson's brand...but Tyson's can still have E.coli!!

or Maybe it's a minor case of Batten's Farms strawberries:
"It feels like the worst case of Montezuma's revenge you've ever had.
Stomach cramps. Vomiting. Diarrhea that persists for days, if not
weeks. The culprit? It could be raw vegetables, a fruit salad or those
juicy fresh strawberries you just ate. At least that's what health officials were saying last week, when they
announced that over the past two months a few hundred people in the
U.S. and Canada have been stricken with a new and mysterious intestinal
infection. So far, no deaths have been reported, although a few people
have been hospitalized for severe dehydration. But what baffles the
experts is how a rare illness that was once seen only in places like
Peru and Nepal has managed to spread so quickly in such far-flung
cities as New York, Houston, Palm Beach, Florida, and Toronto."
...then again that story was from 1996...hahah

A whole entry on poo-related issues. Excellent...
Well, aren't you relieved I informed you?! I know I am.... hahahahahaha I thoroughly enjoyed writing this entry.
This man is my hero. Sometimes you just want to know why things
happen...Dr. Edward Goljan is the pathology expert. His notes are
great! When I find something that may interest a wider audience (other
than myself), I will post it. Until next time...

It's been rough.
Frustrations
from Board studying, school, and just change have been weighing me down, and I
feel it's preventing me from fully mourning and getting it all out.
Then again, maybe I'm expecting too much...expecting that the pain will go
away with one tumultuous cry. But in fact, he's gone and he's not coming
back. I've heard that people can sometimes sense the presence of a loved
one that passed away. I never fully believed them.
But lately, I've
been feeling his presence. At the depth of my sorrow, or at the trigger
of a memory, I close my eyes and feel he is there. Perhaps it's just a
manifestation of the mind's deep desires?
It's odd, alarming, but a bit of
a comfort too. I'd like to believe it's remnants of a strong connection
established...in life.
Who knows.
All I know, is that I miss him.
