  • Today

So..I'm keeping this to stay on top of things!

Where to begin?  Update.  Where do I start?

Senior year=amazing.  I ended up with good grades (99 in calc last quarter!!) and got into 7 colleges.  I decided on OSU.  Interesting decision actually.  I loved Cincy, but they did not answer my phones calls or e-mails and overall were very rude when I actually talked to people.  I loved OSU's campus and the people.  It's close to home, but it's own city in itself.  It'll be good for me.  I'm tres excited about it!!  I'm in health sciences with a music minor and most likely a Spanish minor, although if my schedule gets to be too much I may have to drop that.

Now, summer.  Here goes: June--Monday and Wednesday=babysitting 8-5, softball games 6:15 and/or 8:30.  Tuesdays=work or hanging out, Thursdays=flute lesson 10:15 and work, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday=work and church somewhere in there.   July to early August--Monday and Wednesday babysitting and monday night flute lessons 6:15.  Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday stay the same.  Thursday mornings are freed up, but will hopefully be work.  Last week of July is vacation with the family at the beach and July 15 and 16 is orientation!!  Mid August and most of September is work and hanging out with friends before college.  Then school starts and I move out.

Some exciting news: I am one of the altar servers of the year for St. Brendan.  I'm pretty pumped about that!

Extra stuff: I love my job.  Most people already know this, but it's so true.  I love the people there and there is not one person I cannot stand.  It's one of my favorite places to be.  No joke.  I have always had my places where I feel good and safe from the harm of the world and work is one of those places.  It's a safe haven.  I can't imagine life without that place or the people I've met there.  Also, my friends...love them all beyond life.  I miss hanging out with them and seeing them everyday.  I'm going to try to do more with them.  It seems like with everything going on, we aren't together as much and it's sad.  They mean so much to me.

Well, this is quite a lot.  Maybe, if I'm feeling supercool tomorrow, I'll write more.

    Love always,  CallMeCrazy80

  • ACT, Grades

Overall, life is pretty good right now.  I got a 31 on my ACT...no complaints.  I'm going to take it again and see if I can do better on science.  Grades are pretty good for the most part...I really have to study for a couple math tests coming up...I was a borderline A when grades came out (90) and then I took a test that wasn't as good as it should have been.  I know I can raise my grade I'll just have to study a little harder than normal.  Chemistry is steadily getting a better.  We had a quiz on Friday that I found fairly easy and I took a reatke that I'm pretty sure I aced.  English is going well...I got a 93 on my speech!!  We get to watch Lion King in theology!  Music Theory, Concert Band, and Jazz Band= My favorites.  Well, there is always more...but I'll write about life as it comes.  Bye for now!

  • Cincinnati

New top college choice.  I visited Cincinnati on Friday and love the place.  The campus is great and the music school is amazing.  It may sound weird, but at the end of the day I just wanted to go back to CCM and just stay there.  I really like it.  It's tough to get into, though.  I'm determined.  I know I can make it...I'm just going to have to work REALLY hard.

I'm practicing ever day.  For composition, I'm going to spend every Wednesday and Friday lunchtime in the band office learning how to write for percussion from Jim.  I'm also planning on buying a book or two on composition.  I'm going in between buying Finale PrintMusic or Finale Allegro.  It depends.  I have my Bach Sonata in G down.  Mozart Concerto in G (1st and 2nd movements) and the Poulenc sonata I am playing (1st movement)--I can play both well, just not quite up to tempo yet.  I'm really trying to work on orchestral excerpts, but I'm not too inspired.

I've been taking conducting lessons with Mrs. Inscho.  It's really quite interesting.  Annie is thinking about taking lessons as well.  I <3 Annie.  I hope she takes lessons.

Sarah is running for student council president.  Yay Sarah!!  :D

Weekly after-school schedule: Monday- Jazz band, flute lesson    Tuesday- Jazz band, conducting lesson, honor band    Wednesday- percussion writing (during lunch)    Thursday- Jazz band    Friday-sax lesson     Fun stuff.  :D

    Christine--I'll look into Dayton ;)

Well, 'tis all for now.  L8erG8er.  hehe

  • Indiana

I visited Indiana University today.  They have the best music school in the country.  Sadly enough, I did not like it very much.  It was just too big for me.  I guess I like medium and smaller schools.

Duquesne is still my top choice (it doesn't hurt that it is in my favorite city ever--Pittsburgh.)

Sarah--I'm going to look into Xavier.

  • Duquesne

I visited Duquesne University yesterday and I LOVE IT!!  I love the way it's set up and the city it's in and nearly everything about it.  The music guy there was kind of intimidating, but I looked at the audition requirements and it's definetely do-able.  I'm going to have to work really hard, especially with part 3 of the audition-musicianship.  You have to be able to sing pitches and different intervals.  I'm so excited...I love that school.  :D :)
