  • SPRING BREAK ROADTRIP!!

For Spring Break, we decided to head out west.  We've been here for four years now and have yet to venture out that way...so, we decided this was the year to do it, you know...just in case something happens in May ;).  Anyway, we went to see the Meteor Crater, Grand Canyon, and ended our trip in LA - Santa Monica beach to be exact.  Below are some photos of our journey.  (If you have facebook (Marion, still hoping you join us there!), then you'll get to see my whole photo album.  Here, I've just picked a few random ones. ENJOY!

  • Passion Conference

Well, hello everyone!  Yes, I'm back (well, sorta). I know it's been awhile since I've updated.  I just got burned out with blogging.  You can find me more on Facebook now.  Anyway, just wanted to share the fabulous opportunity I had to go to a Passion Conference.  It was in Dallas, TX this past weekend, and I went with 9 college students/young adults.  And yes, typically, the Passion Conference is for college students, but I went as a "chaperone"/DHQ representative". Have I told you how much I love my job? I cannot even begin to tell you the blessings I walked away with.  This conference was jam packed with incredible worship led by (get this):  Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Kristian Stanfill, and Christy Nockels.  Speakers were Francis Chan and Louie Giglio (founder of Passion/268 Generation - you can google that to find out more info. about it).  Yes, hard to believe I was among such greatness!

Anyway, below I share photos of the event.  ENJOY!

    Chris Tomlin!

David Crowder, playing a Guitar Hero guitar!  He makes oddness so freaking cool!

And putting this one, just because!

Anyway, that's it for now.  If you get a chance, come visit me on facebook.  If not, I'll see you in a few months! Ha!

  • FREAKY! FREAKY!

Okay, so once again, we are back at camp.  It's thundering outside, so I'm hoping I can get this blog completed before the internet goes down.  We'll see...

Some exciting stuff happened this weekend.  I was in the dining room with B- and D-, as we were discussing table decorations for OC (which begins tomorrow).  R- and J- went outside and was standing in the parking lot, looking down.  I made my way towards them, and then J- said, "LOOK AT THAT SPIDER!"

    I looked...

    It was  a FREAKING TARANTULA!

    FOUR INCHES LONG!

It was HUGE and I was freaking out!  I'm pretty scared of spiders. I've never seen a tarantula that big before, and right there in front of me, too... BIG AND HAIRY! Yuck!

I go running in to get D- and B-.  D- gets this bright idea to "catch it".  IS SHE CRAZY?!?!  So, she runs back into the dining room, gets a plastic container, and between her and J-, they catch this thing and put it in the container.  They are nuts!

R- has pictures of it on her camera.  I asked her to send it to me.  When she does, I WILL BE SURE TO POST PHOTOS!

    Freaky Scary!

  • Older Adult Camp

Well, OAC is over tomorrow.  It has been a good week.  Fun to be with friends, listen to discussions on if we should use the gold doilies or not, and be shown how to correctly set up the dining room (Jayne, you'll understand this) :)  Oh!  And ofcourse the "non-dance" dance.

I do have a confession to make.  I have a boyfriend. Ssshhhhh!  Don't tell my husband.  I don't even know what his name is,  but there is this little old man here that has stolen my heart.  He is hunched over and walks with a cane, and is just the cutest thing.  Any time I can help him in the dining room, I am there:  taking his tray to the table, taking his tray to the window, WHATEVER!  Actually, many times my heart has gone out to these seniors. They enjoy life to the fullest.  They appreciate anything you do for them.  They revel in the simple things in life.  They don't let ailments, aches and pains stop them. Many life lessons have been learned watching them.

Tomorrow we head back to OKC.  We get the kids situated with my mom, then the next day we turn back around and come back for Officer's Councils.  The following week, we go to National DYL's at Camp Hoblitzelle.  These are crazy weeks for us.  I'm just hanging on for the ride, and enjoying the scenery while it passes by.

Went to Starbucks today.  Was introduced to a new coffee:  Toffee Nut Mocha.  It is as delicious as it sounds.  Go try it!  It is my new favorite drink, and I must say a BIG thank you to the fabulous person who introduced me to it.  You know who you are!

Anyway, I am tired.  I'm going to ...well, I don't know what I'm going to do, but it will be relaxing!

    Ciao!
