What would you change about the way your parents raised you?

Nothing!
I would make them raise my sister the same way instead of turning into softies!

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

A lot of times, people will call for directions to come in and get an estimate and end up telling me their entire life story in the process.

I usually realize that I am completely zoned out a few minutes later, wondering what the hell they could possibly still be talking about.

All I end up saying whenever they stop rambling is "are you bringing your car in? what's your name? what kind of car is it? can I have your phone number please?"

It's not that I'm not interested, okay maybe it is a little bit, but I've heard the story about 10 times a day every day since I've been working here. First off, it is never their car. It's always, "my son," "my nephew," my daughter," "my mother," "my second cousin twice removed," name any obscure, distant relative, and I've probably heard it.

"Well what time do you close?"
"Five o'clock."

It's then followed by a "but I gotta... go get my nails done, go pick up my check, go to the gym, pick up my daughter from school..."

Boooooooooooring!!

The parts guy from NuCar just came in to guess what, deliver parts.
He is always super nice and friendly, which part guys rarely are.
But when he left he said to me and Brad "you guys hang in there no matter what."
I don't know, it just struck me as somewhat profound.

I know there's some saying..."you get a lot more with a teaspoon of honey than you do with a gallon of vinegar" something like that. I don't know, is it so much to ask for people to be nice these days? I know so many just plain not nice people and as hard as I try not to be around them I feel like I always am.

Like this morning a guy calls in wants an estimate on getting a part painted. We don't do any estimates over the phone, which I told him. He goes "I'M NOT BRINGING IT IN IT'S NOT THE WHOLE CAR IT'S ONLY A MIRROR." So I tell Mr. Mike. He says "tell him $1200" jokingly. Then he says tell him $100. So I get on the phone and tell him 100 and the guy hangs up on me.

Just called back about 20 minutes ago, says "Hello, how are you today? My name is Mr. X, I'd like to make an appointment to bring in my vehicle for a paint estimate." I know it was the same guy, cause he had a weird whispery type of voice. So I told him our hours, and now he's coming in for an estimate.

But I'm just thinking, couldn't you have just done that the FIRST time you called me?

How difficult is it, even if you have to force yourself to simply be civil. Like, since when has common courtesy gone out the window? Nobody ever told them to be nice?

I don't know, I just don't get it. Maybe it's just how I was raised, I mean everybody gets grumpy every now and then, but my mama (tee hee) taught me to treat others the way I would want to be treated. I thought that was common sense.

Why aren't people nice anymore?

Your score on this personality test was 71%

Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural lead, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

I would like to think this describes me rather well.

Today=ultimate boredom.
But I have been eating candy all day thanks to the goody bags from my cousins' birthday party yesterday. Yumm!
My aunts will probably still make me goody bags when I am 25, at this rate.
I can't complain!

Last night Sam and Aaron came over Brad's to hang out.
I hadn't seen them in so long!
Me and Sam just vented and talked about random apartment stuff.
It's weird how much we think alike.

Tonight I think we're hanging out with Nina. :)

Sooo I definitely just had a conversation with a drunk man for about ten minutes.
That's a first for me at work!

He told me that Pat (one of our body men who's in his late 30's) is in love with me.
And also that his wife raped his car because she was mad at him.
Which is a Ferrari (doubtful).

Overall, scary.
He tried to get my number too. Ew.

I also just ran a credit card for a man with a serious PURSE.
Like straight up purse.

Ahhh highlight of my day right here.
