Today I went to Canterbury and Dover with our British Life and Culture Class (or as it is always written on our handouts British Life an Culture).  Dover was absolutely amazing.  It is definitely the coolest castle I've been to yet.  Windsor Castle and Hampton Court were pretty awesome, too, though.  We went there about 2 or 3 weeks ago.  Canterbury Cathedral was absolutely gorgeous!  I got some pics of it, and I'll try to put them on Facebook soon.

But yeah, Canterbury was amazing.  The coolest thing was the intricate detail in every aspect of the cathedral.  It was a huge place, and you could tell that a ton of manual labor went into every square inch.  It's also really amazing, because it is all so old!  The main part of Dover Castle that we went to today was built in the 12th century!  And there were so many passages and rooms, and twists and turns!  I'm not even sure I saw the whole thing!  It was really cool to get to walk across a draw bridge and to go up onto the turrets in the castle.  And it was the PERFECT day to go!  It was so clear and pretty out that we could see all the way across the channel to France!  This was certainly the best day trip I'd been on so far.

We ate lunch in Canterbury today, and i had my first true British food other than Fish'n'Chips today!  I had steak pie, chips, peas, yorkshire pudding, and hot tea.  It was fantastic!  I so love british food now!  I will be more daring from now on when trying foods.  (I say that now, but who knows what will actually happen when faced with foods like escargot.  I still get the chills when I think about eating snails!)

On Saturady night I went with my friend Rita to see "Guys and Dolls" at the Piccadilly Theatre.  It was standing room only when we got there, but fortunately, that meant we only had to pay £15 to see one of the hottest shows on the West End.  I'm hoping that sometime soon I'll be able to go to the Royal Opera House to see Le Nozze de Figaro.  I think it's playing till March, though, so I have time to go see it.  I also really want to see La Boheme at the Royal Albert Hall, and a ton of other shows on the West End.  One that I need to see before too much longer is Webber's newest musical The Woman in White.  It isn't nearly as good as his others, so I've heard, but I still want to see it.  It closes at the end of February, so I need to get to see it soon.

Sunday night/Monday morning I went with 3 other girls to watch the Super Bowl at a pub down the road, and that was a lot of fun.  There were so many Americans there!  It was really cool to meet all these other Americans who are living in London or studying in London, or whatever.  That pub was a lot of fun, though, and I plan on going back there.  Of course I liked it a whole lot more since I got hit on about 4 times while I was there.  It's always quite flattering, even when the guys are older and kinda fat and disgusting.  (BTW, that part is just b/w us.  Mom and Dad know I went to watch the Super Bowl, but I try to keep from telling them anything about guys while I'm in London.  They rag me about guys all the time, and I try not to fuel the fire.  And if I find out anyone tells them about any of this, I'll never tell you anything cool ever again!)

And speaking of guys, no I haven't found a hott British boy for myself, yet.  I did think I might have had a chance with a cute Scottish boy living just north of London, but nothing happened out of it.  There's also a cute Aussie who frequents a pub down the road who is gorgeous, but we haven't gotten past 'Hello' yet.  There are also a couple of cute guys in our group, but unfortunately they don't have the personality to match.  So, as of now,  I am still waiting for my British man to come along.  I wouldn't mind if he was Scottish or Irish or Australian, though.

Tonight, I've been in Rita's flat booking a trip to Paris.  We both really want to take the ferry across the channel and then the train to Paris, so it worked out really well that we decided to go together.  Another really awesome thing was that the day before she mentioned a Paris trip to me, I thought about how cool it would be to go see the Maginot line while I was in France.  The next day she mentioned going to Paris with me and also mentioned that she really wanted to go see the Maginot line!  It was so unbelievable that it just happened to work out like that.  I have a feeling that she may have been placed in my path for a specific reason.  She isn't a Christian, and practically loathes and despises anyhting that has anything to do with any kind of church.  I really hope that God might use me to show her that not all Christians are bad and that you can overcome past experiences.  And believe me, I have had to overcome them.  I won't go into detail, but I've had my fair share of bad chiurch experiences.  Really just be praying for her in the next few weeks as we get to know each other a little better, etc.
Well, I think this post has been long enough.  I should probably be doing homework or something now, but I think I will try to post some pics on Facebook instead.  Till later -

P.S. - Thanks to Joanna for making me want to "sign-off" with my name from now on!

P.P.S. - I finally decided to go back and figure out what my original colors were when I started this thing, and who could've ever guessed that they were pink and black and white?!?  I know I certainly would never have guessed it.  But, yeah, I'm back to the original colors, now.  Enjoy!

OK, so I just got back in a few minutes ago from the Tate Britain museum in Southwest London.  It was really cool, and we had a guide for our tour who actually knew the stories behind the art, and that was fun.  Unfortunatly, I went to sleep really late last night and woke up in a foul mood this morning.  I really wasn't in a bad mood until I got down to the tube station and one of my flatmates who I was riding down there with decided that I was an idiot and was waiting at the wrong platform and decided to tell me that she "rides this all the time to church."  Now don't get me wrong, she does ride it every week to church, but that is not "all the time" like she said, adn that is on a weekend when the trains run differently.  I had ridden that train the day before and many other times and knew where we were supposed to be, so I just stood where i was and waited.  Needless to say, I was right, and the train that we needed came to the platform I was standing at.  We got on and rode in a very uncomfortable silence for a while, until she turned to me and said that I didn't need to smart off to her like that.  Now, i have difficulty holding my tongue when people challenge my intelligence.  If I know that I am right, don't try to tell me I'm wrong.  Cause I can get really mean.  I told her that I didn't appreciate her insulting my intelligence and then i dropped it, like I had been planning on doing all along.  I can get mad at people really quickly, but just leave me alone for a little while and i'll be over it and we can go on just like before.  But, she can't leave it alone and we end up arguing on the tube until I just flat out tell her to drop it.  Needless to say, we haven't spoken any more today.  Now, I'm fine and I'm ready to forget that it happened, but I haven't seen her to tell her that.  It really sucks having roommates that you didn't choose.  Mine are really great and times, but most of the time they just drive me crazy.  It's really nice having roommates that don't go out and get drunk every night, but it would also be nice if they had fun every once in a while.  Thye all stay in the room all the time and never go out to have any fun.  Thye all go to bed every night before midnight, and then they're ready to get up early in the morning and wake me up by benig really loud while I'm trying to sleep.  Beth, I really miss being your room mate.  Sure, you woke me up every once in a while when I was trying to sleep late, but it didn't happen EVERY DAY!  I also feel lie I can't play my Broadway CDs unless they aren't here, and  I LOVE my Broadway CDs like I love my right arm.  Well, maybe not my right arm, but certainly as much as I love my left arm.

But, back to the story of what happened today.  So I got to the museum and we took the tour and I got to see all of these really incredible paintings while I was in a crappy mood and wanted to go back to sleep and start this day over.  After the tour was over, I went into the gift shop to buy a couple of postcardsand got into an even bigger argument with this girl that is completely annoying and is always in everyone else's business.  She asked me why my flatmate and I were arguing and I told her that it was none of her business.  She has a really bad temper and told me that I had no right to talk to her and that I didn't know her well enough to talk to her like that and then she said "F*** You" really loud in the middle of the museum.  Needless to say, I was embarrassed to death, so I just tried to melt into the woodwork while I was waitingfor another friend to finish in the giftshop so we could leave.  This has been an interesting day and I am ready for it to be over with, even though it is only 2 PM.  OK, well, I'm going to try to take a nap and put this morning behind me.  Hopefully I'll be in abetter mood the next time I post.  Till then ... cheers from London.

Yeah, so I'm in London right now and I've been planning on keeping up with xanga while I was here, but I hardly ever get to use the computer.  There are four of us using one computer, and at times it can get a little crazy with everyone wanting to use it at the same time.  At least we have internet in the rooms and I don't have to walk down to an internet cafe to use the internet, right?  I need to remember this and be thankful that we have internet in the rooms.  But yeah, so about a week ago I had a post about halfway written and got up to do something in the kitchen.  When I came back one of my flatmates was on the computer.  So of course, being the nice person that I am, I didn't say anything and just waited till later to get back on.  When I got back on, though, my post was gone, and I just have had the fortitude to try to write another one since.  Well, one of my roommates just walked in, so I better hand the computer over to her.  Hopefully I'll get back on and be diligent about posting.  I wouldn't hold your breath though.  Till later!

Yea!  I just got back from church a little while ago.  They had this luncheon for all of the people that had been visiting the church and for new members, so I got to stay for that and actually got to have decent food for a change!  Yummy!  And they had the best sweet tea I've had in a long time.  It was so good that they ran out before the food was even served!  Unfortunately, now I have to get to work on my research paper that's due tomorrow.   And I should really try to find some time to finish cleaning my room.  It has gotten so bad these past couple of weeks.  I finally did some laundry yesterday, though, so now I actually have clean clothes to wear.  OK, well I'm gonna put off that paper a little bit longer and start on my room while I listen to some really great music from a musical based on an awesome book, The Scarlet Pimpernel!  OK, well till later.

OK, so I've decided to stop being lazy and start posting on this thing again.  After all, I'm going to London this Spring and I need to be able to keep in touch with everyone somehow.

So, two huge bits of news, one of which has already been partially divulged ... I have a new niece who is absolutely beautiful, and I got a scholarship so that I can study in London for the Spring semester.

Now, however, it is time to get ready for church, so I'm out.  Hopefully, I'll actually remember to keep posting.  Till then.
