Beaverdale Tournament

Carlisle Wildcats had a great weekend finishing 2nd at Beaverdale. The girls came out saturday playing with ATTITUDE! We had many highlights this weekend. Our bats came alive! Saturday pool play we came away 2-1 with the number 2 seed going into sunday.
On the mound this weekend Mary and Maddy did a great job. They faced an Ottumwa team that could really hit the ball. Mary Grace and Annie had the duty behind the plate. Behind the plate they kept the runners honest with a lot of hustle. Catching one runner off guard for a put out at 2nd. Mary had 15 strike outs for the weekend and Maddy came away with 9 strikeouts. We had some really good defensive plays. Taylor(bug) had a great weekend at short getting 7 outs.
Mallorina had some balls coming her way with 4 outs. Channing also had 2 outs from the field at 2nd. Annie had a line catch on 3rd. Our first double play of the year! Mary got a diving line drive on the mound from her knees tossed it to Payton who made an outstanding grab. Our outfield did some great things. Payton had a great back up from 3rd and threw out the girl trying to steal home. Madison had action in center chasing down the balls. Maddy and Abby also was always making sure the runners were not going to advance. Melissa had an out on 3rd and came in to handle first base. Our defense is really improving.
Our bats, what can I say! As I said before when it gets Hot! our bats are going to be Hot!! Wow, can't wait to see when it starts to get really warm. The girls racked up 20 hits single and doubles. Every player got a hit this weekend. For the weekend the girls accumulated 61 times putting the ball in play. The weekend started off with the first pitch. Bug drove it up the middle. Some of the girls really came alive. Madison had some big hits racking up 3 singles. Abby was hot and got a double and 2 single. Bug came away with 6 singles. Mary had 2 singles. Annie got the bat on the ball for 4 singles and a double. Maddy had 2 singles. Melissa and Channing and Mary Grace added singles. Payton put the ball in play but the fielders barely got her.
The girls had ATTITTUDE! The last game of the day the girls started the game with a cheer off! Wildcats out cheered the Dawgs! Keep the ATTITUDE UP and all will know who we are and we are here to play some ball!!!!!!

Osceola Tournament

The Wildcats had a chilly start but showed great improvement. On the mound this weekend Mary and Maddy had a cold task. They both battled the weather and the wet and muddy balls. Mary came away this weekend with 11 strikeouts and Maddy racked up 7 Strikeouts. Behind the plate Annie and Mary Grace kept our opponents on their toes. Many times we thought we had them. Mary Grace and Annie both caught them off guard with a throw out. In the field for the Wildcats we had many good plays. Taylor(Bug) and Mallory got most of the action in the infield fielding a total of 8 ground balls. Melissa and Annie each had put outs from 3rd. Mary Grace and Mary shared duties on first stretching out to get the calls. Our outfield did an awesome job. Madison made a great catch in the first game and fielding to get the ball in quickly.Payton also added with a catch in the outfield. Abby and Channing made great contributions always backing up the bases and moving when the balls were hit. Our bats were a little cold! Annie, Melissa and Mary Grace lead the Wildcats for hits this weekend. With all of them reaching the grass. Bug, Payton and Mallory all put the bat on the ball but just unfortunately hit right to the fielders. Mary, Madison,Channing, Maddy  and Abby all reached the bases with being selective at bat. The girls did a great job! We made some great improvements and with more games and more at bats it will all come together. Watch out when the weather gets warmer our bats will start getting Hot! Hot! Hot!
