~*~Narrative~*~ Charlie could not believe what she was hearing. Her mind was spinning with a million questions. How could he do something like that to her? She had thought that he had liked her. ‘Stupid.’ She thought bitterly to herself. ‘How could you believe that Draco Malfoy would fall for you?’ He had kissed Emma. Emma who he invited on his ski trip with him and Payton. Emma who had gone to Paris with him. Emma who had kissed him in their room. She had decided to confront him. She had hopped that he would say “no.” Perhaps even lie about it, then she would not be so upset. But that wasn’t what happened. “I heard what happened with Emma…Does that mean you’re going to the dance with her?” She asked staring at the ground, hurt. He shook his head no, but she couldn’t see because she was currently staring intently at the ground, which she found was quite dull. “Erm, no. We’re not. I actually wasn’t planning on going. I mean, I just found out about it because I never pay attention to anything.” He laughed a little. It was a cute laugh, she decided. She had not heard him laugh too much, so she was happy to have him laughing with her, even if it hurt her. “Yeah me too…” She said still looking at the ground. A bug was trying to fight its way across the grass back to its home. ‘I bet even it has a loving family to go home to’ she thought bitterly to herself. “But is it true…I mean, what you two did?” She asked praying that his answer was ‘no’. Draco’s tone of voice changed slightly, she could tell he was feeling a tad bit anxious about this whole thing. “Well, er, yeah…But, it was kind of sudden, y’know?” he asked stumbling faintly over his words. She closed her eyes feeling the bitter sting of childish tears welling up in her eyes, “Yeah,” was all she managed to choke out. “Are you okay Charlie?” She heard him ask. “Yeah,” her voice cracked slightly and she attempted to smile but failed miserably. “Then why are you trying not to cry?” He asked. ‘Man.’ She thought, cursing his smug self-confidence. She should have known he would have asked her. ‘All men are the same. They ask questions that they shouldn’t.’ “I’m not. I promise.” She said but as the words came out of her mouth a tear came out and fell down her check. Blushing she wiped it away angry with herself for crying in front of him. “I have to go.” She said quickly. But as she turned to go she felt someone grab her arm and she turned to see Draco staring at her intently. She watched as he leaned forward and gave her a soft kiss on the check. “I wouldn’t hurt you like that Charlie.” He whispered. “Really?” She asked hardly daring to believe it. Charlie stared at his face for absolution, to see if he was lying to her. She had heard terrible things that Malfoys do to get what they want from people. Perhaps this was just another trap. “Really.” He said softly and gave her a soft, sweet kiss on the lips. She smiled and kissed him again. All the things that were going wrong in her life seemed to be right. It was just she; it was just he. She was happy. “Will you go to the dance with me?” Charlie asked, regretting it slightly. If he said ‘no’ the perfect world would be shattered. ~*~End Narrative~*~ |
