A Day At The Races

Race tomorrow!

Hey all!  I am running the "Too Hot To Handle 15K" tomorrow at
7:30am at White Rock Lake.  I am super excited and nervous and
all of that good stuff.
World Vision sent me a shirt that says "26.2 for Africa.  Team World
Vision" on it and I plan to wear that to any races I run between now
and the marathon.  Who knows, maybe I will raise some funds tomorrow
at the race!  I will be sure and update you tomorrow on my time.

Time to beat: 1 hour and 21 minutes.

I went to Chuck E. Cheese's today

with the kids from Fortress.  It was a reward field trip.

I have to admit, I was SUPER excited when I heard we were going there.
Way more excited than the kids.  I hadn't been there in YEARS.  The last
time I even thought about going was when I was a senior in high school and
my friend thought it might be funny to go there for her 18th birthday, because
that's the kind of thing high schoolers think would be funny.  We didn't go though.
Chuck E. Cheese's in Lewisville told us we had to be 12.  Bummer.

ANYWAY.  I started to doubt the trip.  Was I building it up too much?  Would it
really be as great as I imagined it?

It was.

It was all that and more.

As an adult looking after the safety and well-being of 26 kids it was awesome
because we had a small, confined area with lots of distractions and lots of food.
No stress about where kids were.  No annoying "I'm so hungry" or "I'm bored"
whiny-ness to contend with.  Best field trip of the summer so far, by far.

As an adult trying to relive the innocent wonder and amazement of her childhood
it was CRUNK (yeah, I am picking up some lingo from the 'hood).  First of all, they
got rid of the freaky real life Chuck E. Cheese.  They replaced him with a fake robot
Chuck E. Cheese complete with songs, TV's and a green screen to perform in front of.
Second, the pizza was delish.  It tasted like what I imagine cartoon pizza to taste like.
Know what I mean?  THIRD the games were just as great as ever.  And by that, I mean
Skee Ball was just as great as ever.  I want one of those in my house.

Lyla went with me.  We were telling my mom about the day and I said, "...plus we got
cinnastick type dessert things with our pizza and they were good."  Lyla pipes up, "What
dessert things?"  Haha...oh yeah....those were just for the adults.

The only bummer thing was that it made me REALLY REALLY miss Fun Time Pizza.
Now THAT place was the BOMB.

(Oh my gosh.  Who am I?  Did I REALLY just write a whole huge post about Chuck
E. Cheese's?)

I typically don't buy text books for online classes

because you don't really need them honestly.

But, of course, I have been sticken with the new visiting professor for this new summer class
and he is requiring us to post a question about the book EVERY DAY.

There's no BS-ing this one.

Rats.

I checked online at the Carrollton Public Library though and guess what?  It's available online
as an "E-Book".  How rad is that?

Dang.  That means I have to read it now I guess.

Rats.

*Edit* Okay so maybe it's the wrong book....but it has the same author and title.....however, everyone's post in my class is different than mine...like we haven't even read the same book.  I am perplexed.

As I was driving 3 teenage girls today

I had the privilege of over hearing this conversation:

(not completely sure of the context)
Junior #1: No, no not all black muslims live in Africa.
Junior #2: Yeah and then there are them Iraqi muslims, whatever, or Arabians.
6th grader: What is Arabians?
#2: Them the ones that have the same color skin as hair.
6th grader: Same skin as hair?
#1: Yeah like Sadaam Hussein.
6th: Who is that?
#2: He the one who throw bombs all over the place
6th: What movie is he from?
#1: No like he throw bombs for real, in real life, on other people and stuff.  Him and
that other one...
#2: What's his name?  Oh Osama Bin Laden.
6th: What movie they from?
#1: They ain't from a movie.  It's like 9/11.  Real life.
6th: But I saw that in a movie.
#1: Oh yeah they DID make a movie out of that.  But this is for real.
