If you had to condense your life to one word, what would it be?

Wondrous God, a simple girl heard the angel's voice , and she responded with faithfulness and patience. She bore your love to the world. Help us to listen to heaven's call, as she did, with humility, purity, and openness of heart. Forgive us when we judge the humble in this world as weak, the pure as naive, and the openhearted as gullible. Strip away our pretensions to worldly wisdom. Urge us to listen to your call to us, and help us wait with faithfulness and patience for all you have planned for us to come to pass. Amen.

    VICES

I find it really comforting when someone confides in me, you know? Like when they tell me something UBER important: "I don't tell many people this, but I am an alcoholic... so, I don't drink anymore. I do smoke weed, though."

SERIOUSLY?? What is that? What does that mean?  I just don't understand it.

It's like saying, "I'm a nymphomaniac... so, I don't have sex with other people anymore. I do masterbate a lot, though."

I will NEVER understand people, humanity, and sin.

That's why it's not my job to judge; however, it is my job to learn to love. That is what I am doing, but sometimes it's hard.

    Opposite Direction

Opposition seems to be the recurring theme in my life-- There are times when I think I would like something to happen a certain way, but the opposite usually happens; for example, over the past few weeks I felt that I needed some time and space to be alone, reflect, and get my head together. What happened? I ended up smothering myself with friends, people, work, etc. and there hasn't been a minute over the past 72 hours that I have spent alone (yes, I know it's Thanksgiving... bad timing for such a request.) Here is an even better example of some of the conflicting emotional responses I have been having to life: There are certain people that I never again wanted to see, speak to, or be in the same room with. And I have been completely bullheaded about never putting myself in certain situations where I would be faced with these people or having to make choices that could lead me down a self-destructive path... However, I have found myself faced with people, situations, and choices that unearth certain past behaviors/feelings and I am completely dumbfounded. I feel like a hamster on a wheel-- running in circles, going nowhere, yet I think I am making the most out of my time; at least I am getting exercise.
