  • A Weekend Trip

After watching fireworks at Tamera's Friday night, we got up extremely early and drove down to Vancouver to visit my mom.  The kids loved seeing Grandma Janet and Grandpa Dan, and my mom and step-dad seemed to really enjoying seeing my kids.  They did all kinds of special stuff with them and spent lots of time interacting with them.  I don't think we've ever had such a nice visit.  On Saturday we went to a big family get-together for my step-dad's family in St. Helens, OR.  The kids got lots of tractor rides, swinging time, trampoline time and enjoyed seeing cousins they only see once a year.  We got home from my mom's house around 8 on Sunday, the latest we've ever stayed.  Here are some pictures from the trip.

  • Day Camping

We went up to the mountains today for some day camping with Tamera and her kids. We drove out Highway 410 past Greenwater and then quite a ways down Forest Service Road 70, to here.

  • Catching Up In Bullets

    In no particular order,
    • Anneliese turned 5.
    • Gary's uncle died from cancer.
    • We've been busy with lots of field trips and playdates with Tamera and her crew.
    • I got a new camera  And this lens.  Thank you, Tamera.
    • Gary didn't have the brain tumor his doctor suspected.
    • I found a homeschool group I like and we've been getting together with them regularly.
    • Trevor dislocated his elbow, and we didn't realize it for 3 days.

  • Talk to me about dolls

I would like to get Anneliese a nice doll for her birthday next month.  Like an American Girl doll, but not an actual American Girl doll.  I don't like they way they look with their two front teeth poking out of their mouths.  I want to be able to sew matching clothes for her and her doll.  I don't know if it should look just like her or not.  I think it would be cute to have a look-a-like doll, but maybe it's a bit creepy.  Please recommend a doll for me.  Please.  I have no idea where to look or what is important in choosing a quality doll.  If American Girl dolls are your favorite, tell me why.  Thank you.
