| My First Open Mic @ the Muddy Cup.
the place was hip and the lighting was just right- not too dim, not too bright. the atmosphere was chill- with a warm fuzzy feel of orange and yellow. abstract art hung from wall to wall, and couches were strewn across the floor in a jazzy manner. the two of us were smooth sailing through a wave of people- a bunch of musicians ready to perform. it was a perfect place for cozy mingles, and there was nothing more soothing than to enjoy each other's company, while sipping on some coffee and taking bites out of a nice cranberry muffin. we were certainly living "in the moment"- nothing more, nothing less. the moment we went up on stage, Amie and Jessica transformed into Cali and Jamie. it was quite nervewrecking, because we were no stars or professionals, but just two girls in matching pink t-shirts and french-braided pigtails. nonetheless, we finger-snaped our way through the song... 'your voice is a piece of whats inside of you finding its place and filling up the room it goes through my ears and down to my toes I let you take me wherever it goes..." (composed by my friend jessica aka "jamie") and to know that we did it and hopefully made an impression on someone just made the night worthwhile. | | |

| to my other half... happy birthday.words cannot soley describe the feeling that tags along after i hear the sound of your voice. you always seem to perpetuate our sisterly relationship with words of encouragement and of course, your laughter that fills my heart to the brim. two girls, hand in hand, against the world... we can surely make it, i mean we already made it this far- and remember that our goals and dreams are just within our reach-- kind of like the George Washington Bridge that was only a mile away. you are the ray to my tribulations, the seeds in my apple, the dandruff in my hair, the dirt crusts beneath my fingernails--- yeayea, and all the other mushy stuff. so when the world attacks, and when you slide off track... remember one fact, i got yo' back. you are nourishment to my soul, to say the very least. happy birthday love! | | |
| it's not about how long we've been talking on the phone, or how many gifts we've exchanged. the frantic finger counting does not allude to the number of months i've known him, but merely the counting of the days and hours left till our reunion. statistics will never suffice, because it's the quality that truly matters, more so the connection. and when two people touch base in the inner and have slowly found a niche in each other's heart- that is more than enough to surpass and step bounds that lie outside of numbers, finger-counting, and time. and to know that the day will come when i shall see him again, i am only ever so content - (albeit i may have to pinch you or pull out strands of leg hair to make sure you're not a mirage) and so, with that...
