on secular holiday song texts

secular holiday song texts are always good for a laugh (or cry). case in point:

this is the season of hope, a wonderful time of the year
people are sharing, giving and caring     This is the season of hope
reach out and try something new, start a tradition or two
no need to choose, nothing to lose         This is the season of hope
people build walls from things that are new
open our hearts is what we must do

i am fairly certain the man who wrote this song did so in five minutes or less, because in addition to these banal lyrics, he also chose to include several dotted half notes sustained on the word "year" (impossible to blend)

reminds me of the time i was singing in a community choir, and our holiday concert featured a song with the lyric "sing a song for the obvious reason" which i chose to sing as "sing a song for the obvious treason" solely for self-amusement (there were a hundred of us, and no one heard my 't' except my friend Nancy, who would surreptitiously poke me while trying not to laugh. ).

Well, you've always been a bit treasonous.
