| | Robin Hood: Booby and the Beast*spoilers*
Well tonight's episode of Robin Hood was wildly entertaining. The writer who thought up the brilliant idea of turning Nottingham into an early incarnation of Las Vegas (and got paid for the idea, no less) was genius. And I absolutely loved the strong room that was rigged with enough booby traps it rivaled the opening sequence of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
This episode's guest star was a familar face - Dexter Fletcher appeared as the foppish Count Friedrich from Bavaria, a high stakes gambler. Again, seriously, throwing random Germans into this show is just one more example of how insane the filmmakers must be.

Fletcher has appeared in Tristan & Isolde, the mess known as Mansfield Park '08, and quite memorably as "Skinny Pirate" in Stardust.
With the blind Steven's cryptic comments to Robin along the lines of how he must "hang in there and he will prevail," m'darling Hood looks like he's going to be in for some rocky times. And I LOVE the inner conflict bubbling just beneath the surface of Gisborne's stony exterior...the filmmakers have a good thing going with Guy's character and they know it...and thankfully, with an actor of Richard Armitage's caliber, they can play that angle to the hilt. And if the preview is any indication, next week's episode is going to be chock-full of yummy, angst-ridden Guy moments... |
