| Happy Birthday to Star Wars! 31 years ago, it came out today and my wallet has never been the same since...

| I check the news about the earthquake in China everyday - what I think is the saddest isn't the loss of the homes, buildings, etc... but the ending of the lives of so many children.
Take a look at the photo on the left (from bbcnews.com). There's no way they can use that road to get help into the affected areas.
Today, I donated to our company's China earthquake victim fund - hope the money gets to help someone out. Since I work for a Chinese company,
联想, I've seen internal news that some people in our China offices have already done some contributing, donated blood, supplies, etc...
Take a look at BBC reporter, James Reynold's, blog about the damage there: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/jamesreynolds/
If you want to help, maybe you can, through the Red Cross: http://www.redcross.org/news/in/profiles/Intl_profile_ChinaEarthquake.asp?

| That Singaporean that I work with is so cute; too bad she's too young for me (I'm old enough to be her father). Anyway, I found not only is she a big Star Was fan, but she also loves comic books, especially the X-Men. People who know me, know that I have roughly 20 years of collecting comic books (that roughly equates to about 4,000 of them, currently being stored in my old bedroom at my parents' house - no wonder they want me to move out of this apartment and buy a house of my own... ). Anyway, today I gave her a stack of X-Men trading cards from 1994 - she was so excited, it was funny.
Anyway, I also told her when I was walking around the underground shopping areas at Singapore, I bumped into a store that sold a whole bunch of comic book character busts, action figures, etc... I should have taken a photo though because now I can't remember where it was nor what it's name is. She wanted to know.
I don't mind giving away some duplicate comic books, cards, action figures, etc... that I have, as long as I know the people I'm giving them to will take care of them. I've even given my sister a fine conditioned X-Men #94.
Usually around Christmas, I'll donate a bunch of Star Wars extras that I have to the "Toys for tots" charity. See if I can get some more kids addicted to Star Wars. heh heh...

| Did you see this about actress Tang Wei? This irks me.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080309/en_nm/lust_dc
Some of those Mainland Chinese are so stupid!!! If you think about it,
why not ban Shu Qi too? She was in a softcore porn before. It's not
like people are forced to watch these movies. Did those people who made this decision even watch the movie?
Even a country as strict Singapore is, decided to release the full uncut version weeks after the edited version of the movie was shown.
Personally, I thought the movie was pretty good - Tang Wei did a good job portraying her character. And for goodness sakes, it IS a movie about seduction. Duh!!! Its based on a novel written by Chinese writer, Eileen Chang. She died in 1995, otherwise the Mainland Chinese would have banned her too.
This is just like when the Mainland Chinese government banned A-Mei Chang for singing at Taiwan's President's inauguration and when they banned Bai Ling for starring in "Red Corner".
