  • Wow...Two Months Without a Blog?

I guess I need to blog...it's been 2 months since my last posting! In my defense, we have been very busy lately...here's a small sampling of our latest activities...

We have a new niece. Kaitlyn Kay Jankowski was born on May 26th (Memorial Day) She joins mom Bridget, dad Tony and big brother Michael. Mom and Dad now really have their hands full, as Michael was not quite 18 months old when his sister arrived.

We had to wait a little while to go see Katie due to schedule conflicts, but have been able to see her a few times now. Here are some photos from our first visit...

Beautiful baby, and so tiny! (6lbs 15oz at birth)

Faith says, "Yay, another girl!" (The McLaren girls are still outnumbered 4-3 though!)

Alex is an expert at baby-holding, since he's done it a few times before! (He's the oldest of the 7 McLaren grandkids.)

The complex we live in decided it was time to redo all the streets in the neighborhood, it took a week, but we are enjoying the new pavement. And the kids were entertained by all the commotion...

    100_2347
"Look at what they're doing to our road!"

    100_2339
Nothing like watching them rip up the old asphalt.

    100_2355
"Now what are they doing, Faith?"

    100_2351
    "They're laying the new asphalt!"
The kids sat in the front door for hours at a time watching the construction. Cheap entertainment!

And finally, Alex just finished baseball season. He played coach-pitch this year, and did very well. We decided to go to the town just south of us, Potterville, with a couple of Alex's friends from school and scouts. It was fun, and they have a great facility, which made things even nicer!

    All smiles in the dugout...

Alex playing the catcher position, which is really only fun because of all the equipment he got to wear!

    100_2166
His hitting has improved a lot! He got a single almost every time at bat.

    Evan watches the game...

But, thankfully, there was a slide right there for when things got boring!

    100_2143
Faith (who has recently graduated to REAL pigtails) always made sure to bring a water bottle

    100_2114
She also enjoyed the nearby swings...

and everyone loved digging in the dirt!!

So, there you have it, a short overview of some of the things we McLarens have been up to in the past 2 months.
And hopefully, I will be better about keeping current with my blogging...

  • Not Again...

So, the little ones have croup again. Seems like any time they get sick, it's croup. That's what we've been up to for the last week.

And the week before that we were experiencing technical difficulties with the computer and the high speed internet connection.

And before that it was major car trouble...

Surely, there will be an upside to all of this soon...

  • Last Friday

OK, so I am a week late with this post, but better late than never, I guess.

Last Friday, Chris' brother, Brian, came up for a short visit with his family and Chris' Aunt Florence. The cousins had some time to play together, and I took a few shots.

Here are the two babies, Faith and Nathan. (Faith is exactly 2 months older than Nathan, but you definitely can't tell that by looking, since Faith is such a tiny thing.)

And a shot of our nephew Nathan alone...(what a cutie!)

Then, just to be fair, a shot of Faith alone...(she's even cuter than Nathan, but I am a bit biased!)

And while the babies played inside, the big kids played outside. Here's Elizabeth (who's 4 1/2) with Alex and Evan in the sandbox...

Then, after all that excitement, we had the Cub Scout Fishing derby to attend.

    My three guys fishing...

And here we see how Evan spent most of his fishing time...tangled in the trees...(good choice not to give him a hook!!)

And Miss Faith was along for the ride...she spent most of her time snacking.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!!

  • Smells Like Spring!

It's finally getting warm outside! We have had so many cold or wet days lately, that the kids have been going crazy waiting to be able to play in the backyard. It seems that Spring has finally sprung! We have a few crocuses out front, and the tulips are starting to grow. (Now I have to get out there and clean up the flowerbeds!)

At any rate, I was watching the kids play outside yesterday, and I was amazed at how big Faith is. She's growing up so fast...Here's some photographic proof...

    100_2029
    Faith loves the sidewalk chalk!

    100_2031
She was so excited, she had to come show me!

    100_2032
Alex got tired of playing with Evan and Faith, so he brought out his Gameboy.

    100_2034
Evan, you're not supposed to stand on the picnic table!

    100_2036
Watch out...you might get shot with a nerf ball!

    100_2037
Can't believe she's big enough to play in the sandbox on her own!

    100_2040
This one's my favorite...Miss Big Stuff sitting on the back steps watching her brothers.

Edit...had to try a new layout for Spring too!

  • What a game!

Wow! That was quite the basketball game last night!

Since Alex is on Spring Break, we said he could stay up to watch the game (after taking a nap in the afternoon). But, it turns out that all the excitement was a bit too much for him...

This is what he looked like with about a minute left in regulation:
    100_2009

He didn't even get to see the three-pointer that lead to overtime, and then the win!

Connie called me after the game. Interesting phone conversation...since I could hardly hear anything, except everyone around her screaming as they made their way out to party in the street.

Congrats to the Jayhawks...and enjoy your day off of school all you KU students!
