Hubby turned 44 the other day.

Why Women Bitch... The Real Reason

Last night I was feeling all PMS-y.

I have learned to realize when I am feeling that way and try to not turn into a raging she-devil to everyone. Especially clueless husband and innocent children.

Husband called before I left work and asked if steak was ok for supper and I said, "Of course," of course. And told him to go ahead and put the pototoes on so they would get done.

I got home and he was just getting back from going to the grocery store. He hadn't put on the potatoes like I told him to, so I put them on and got on my eliptical. He started the grill and marinated the steaks and also made a salad.

About thirty minutes later he came in the room where I was and said, "The potatoes aren't going to get done at the same time as the meat."

I felt that acid taste in my mouth I get when I want to get really mad. But I shoved it back down. After all, he had fixed a nice steak dinner. I figured I'd rather enjoy steak and salad than ruin the whole dinner by hollering about the potatoes not getting done.

I thought this was progress toward controlling my monthly rage.

During dinner, clueless husband asked, "How's your steak?"

"Yum," I replied, munching steak and salad and thinking I didn't really need the baked potato after all.

"Too bad about the potatoes," he said. "They would have gotten done if you hadn't bought such damn big ones."

Now I not only felt the acid taste in my mouth but the throbbing in my head that means something is about to explode.

"The potatoes would have gotten done, honey," I said with eerie calm. "IF you had put them on when I TOLD YOU TOO, DUMASS!"

Moral of the story:

Women bitch because they know they better go ahead and do it before he does.

Update:

Nano is going good. I have over 12K words. I'm not posting here because it's a very rough, quickly written draft. Sometimes people think you want critiquing. It's no where near ready for that yet. I do have some excerpts posted on my Nano profile. Here's me: http://www.nanowrimo.org/user/130889

I have a staph infection. I don't know how I got the crummy staph infection. It's in my ear and fingernail. There's also a bump on the side of my nose. That could just be a huge pimple. I'll know in two days if it's MRSA. In the meantime, they are treating it as if it were, so I'll get rid of it no matter what. I catch EVERYTHING.

It's cold here. We had a bit of frost on the ground this morning and I could see my breath. Brrr.

Going home yesterday was an adventure. It had already gotten dark when I left work. I had to go pick up my medicine - to get rid of icky staph crap -, go take a car part back to AutoZone to get the core charge back, and then I needed gas. I got nervous because I was very low and wasn't sure I could make it to my normal store that I like to stop at, so I stopped at a closer one. It was only a half mile or so to my normal one, but this was one scareeeey store. I had no idea, as I'd never stopped at this ghettoish-crackville nighmare place. No woman should stop at such a place at night alone and/or unarmed.

My daughter has 4 As on her report card. She's excellent at math, doing graphs and is the first one in her class to pick up the new concepts. She has an A in Language. An A (very high A) in science. You get the picture. I'm not one of the moms who push my kids academically, demand straight A grades or whatever as long as I know they are doing the best they can and learning. But what I can't figure out is, why, why, why, is she FAILING spelling? That's the one subject that we spend a good bit of time working on EVERY night, and it's the one thing she is having trouble in. No, I don't think she'll fail spelling for the year. Her first nine weeks grade was almost a B. I feel when this nine weeks is over, she'll get somewhere near that. But, it was just bizarre to get a mid-term report and see - A, A, A, B, A, and .... F. It's spelling... OMG.

First day of NaNo and I've written Zero words.

I couldn't stay up till midnight. After all the Trick-or-Treat festivities, I fell asleep on the couch. There was no hope of waking myself up so I saved my energy and went to bed.

I was going to do some planning at lunch time but hunger and the need for mailing labels sent me out for lunch.

It's gotta get better.
