So I've been dormant for a while...

I think I'm going to start blogging again even though no one reads this. It will be for my personal benefit. Writing equals stress relief, I suppose.

So what's been going on in my life? A lot. Lately I've felt so overwhelmed - everything piling a-top each other, and I can't seem to keep up.  This year was especially rough on me because of my job(s), living situation, and boy problems. Sometimes I just want to cry.  Through it all, I am looking forward to a fresh start either in the summer or the fall.

So I have a few plans for the summer:

Plan 1: Summer RA, take 12 hrs (CHEM 301, US Hist, CMS 306, and ARH or ART), summer intern at a local boutique on the drag (three options: Flirt, Fashion Vault, Pangea)

Plan 2: Intern in New York at Teen Vogue (it's a long shot, but this experience would be an amazing resume builder!)

Plan 3: Intern in Paris with a Texas Alum (another long shot, but this would be a real hands-on experience -- I think I'd attend FasionWeek!)

Plan 4: Go back to Houston, take summer school, and work

It's looking like Plan 1 is the most plausible, but I would gradly drop it for Plan 2 or 3 if either of those were to materialize.

But backtracking, I had a GREAT spring break with two of my best friends, Huy and Justin!  We roadtripped to Houston and Dallas. We ate tons of food, shopped, played video games, etc. I can't wait to live with them in the fall!

    Spring Break 2007 016

    Spring Break 2007 027

Anyway, I guess that's it for me. I have to get back on track with homework. The plan is to read IB and ARH tonight, which realistically won't happen. But alas, I will try. I'm so behind in accounting. Makes me sad... but HAPPY to know that ACC 312H is the LAST accounting I will ever take! bwahahaha!  So long for now!

    How To Save A Life

I'm tiiiired, but at least I'm rolling in the dough.

    The title says it all.

Don't get me wrong, this summer's just as busy as the last, yet it's somehow rewarding. I've been doing a lot of working and hanging out. School is blah, and a joke, not to mention... I already know all this stuff. I'd seriously just like the credit NOW. Ugh.

However, the summer's also already becoming mundane, though. I'd rather be back in Austin hanging out with good friends there, doing nothing and being away from my parents. I miss the freedom of Austin. I don't belong here in Houston anymore.

    Weekly schedule:

    M-F: school 8-9:30am; work 10am-6pm

    F: work 6-10p @ Gap

Weekend: work two full 8 hr shifts @ Gap.

So, now that I'm going to be working at Gap again, with the ever-wonderful Frank Michel!, I'm going to need some apparel...

Eyelet embroidered dress. Plan: buy a small size and wear it over jeans or capris. (Gloria says it's not fair that I can wear girls AND teens AND womens clothing. haha. This is a maybe.) <-- didn't get it.

Madras Bermuda Shorts<-- didn't get it.

    1969 Cut-off Denim Shorts. HOT!!

Paisley Mini-skirt. (This is a maybe.) <-- didn't get it.

Cabana Sundress. (white or magenta) <-- didn't get it.

3/4 Length Sweater. (green) <-- didn't get it.

Crochet Striped Halter Top. (This reminds me of a work of art by Morris Louis called "Saraband." Here's the painting. This is a maybe.) <-- didn't get it.

Embroidered Large Raffia Tote. GORGEOUS! <-- didn't get it.

Striped Cork Sandals. SO CUUUTE! <-- didn't get it.

I think that's it... I know there's one more thing I want, but I can't find it on the website. Oh well, I'll see what they have in the story when I go into work on Sunday!

Summer's been great all in all. I had SO MUCH fun chilling with Chach and Tayla in ATX over Memorial weekend! We watched so many episodes of ENTOURAGE (Vince is a hottie!) and ate and talked and shopped and chilled. Chach was like, "Christine, we're going to get you fired from your RA position so you can spend the night here all the time. And Ben was also like, "We're going to make you bend the rules SO MUCH next year! We're just going to set up a cot for you, okay?" HAHA. Love 'em to death! MUAH! I'm SO EXCITED about next year! They're coming into town in a week or two and we'll all go out to a nice dinner! Yay, I'm excited! I also had fun hanging out with Joe, Alfred, Tillman, Hiba, Brooke, Gloria, Edwin, Amy, Gabs, Alissa, Rani, and Yesi, too. Hanging out with Edwin and Charlene tomorrow.

    Until next time!

    What's Left of Me

And it all comes to and end...

Reflecting back on what's happened, I can honestly say that this semester has been an AMAZING one. I feel like I accomplished so much, made a lot of new friends, built stronger relationships with exisiting friends, and had A LOT of FUN!! I think back on last semester and how shitty it was, but I'm glad ties were severed even I don't think it was right of me to get screwed over like that (even if it was partly self-induced), but whatever, it's life, and life goes on. If I wouldn't have let go, I wouldn't be where I am today. I traded one suppposed "best friend" for a literally a MILLION best friends. There's never a dull moment, never a moment where I can't call someone up just to chill, eat dinner, watch a movie, party with etc.

I've really gotten to know Tara, Priscilla, and Justin from my dorm (BRP) A LOT better. I'm so THANKFUL that they're in my life. Tara and Priscilla are always taking care of me whether it be while I'm stressing about a test or taking me shopping. Justin and I always laugh together about the amount of facebook friends we have, sing along to Disney music, and talk about crazy statistics. I'm sad though because T & P are moving off-campus, and Justin's interning at Microsoft next semester so he won't be here. :( Another girl that I will always LOVE is Nami. Although we don't see each other that often, we always manage to connect and talk for hours when we do get a chance to hang out (apart from our busy schedules). We always encourage each other in school and always have fuuuuuun boy talks - i.e. there's just no one good enough for us. hahaha.

This semester, I got a chance to meet up with an old friend from HS, named Ben Danziger. When I was a freshman and sophomore, Ben took care of me. Haha, I guess we were always hanging out in good 'ole Mrs. Managan's room. I kept running into him throughout the year at UT and he was always like, "Call me!" I always had his cell phone number, but I guess I just figured I was too busy. Then like at the beginning of April, I ran into him in the b-school and he made me IM him so I did. Now most of my time is spent with him and his friends, Chachi, Taylor, and Seth. They're always so sweet and entertaining. I'll just spend the night over there, and I feel so comfortable. They treat me like a princess, like a little sister. They watch my back and take care of me. And, since I'm pretty naive, Ben makes me leave the room when he doesn't want me to hear something. Aww, I love them to death! Man, chilling with guys is the best. Why? NO DRAMA. Haha, Chachi had this dog tag engraved for me: "Christine Lew - Ghetto Star." And, Tayla is my dancing buddy!! Holla at Temperature, Everytime We Touch, and Shake. hahaha.

So I guess my summer is filled with summer school and work again. I gotta make a lot of money to support my extravagant spending habits. :/ (I want designer sunglasses and a Gucci purse. Tara's interning at Nordstrom's and can get me huge discounts! So yay! I also want a few more Lacoste polos, a magenta razor, an iPod, and a new camera. I'm going to wait on the last two, though.) It sounds like a lot, but I figure I'll only spend a week to two weeks worth of money, which is, at most, one full paycheck. I'm working two jobs: Marye-Kelley Decoupage and Gap Highland Village. At MKD, I'll be working full-time 40 hrs a week at $10/hr, and at Gap I'll probably work 16-21 hrs a week at $8/hr, so I'll be banking. I figure I'll just save the rest and contribute to a car later.

Speaking of a car, I'm trying to convince my dad to buy me a pre-owned BMW. He's not really into that idea though... haha. (James Hwang is going to help me convince him later.) He said he would let me get an Acura RSX, used Lexus, or used Infiniti. Okay, so I know there are expensive cars, and I really should be driving around a Civic or Camry, right? Well... here's the catch...

I've been hired as a RESIDENT ASSISTANT next year! Thus, I will be saving my parents A LOT of money. Add an small annual scholarships and then add whatever money is in my bank account to a car. So yeah, essentially I'm paying for my car. Sorta. It's either that route, OR drive a '92 Camry around till I graduate and get a brand new Lexus, Infiniti, or BMW. I kind of like Plan 2, but we'll see...

But yeah, I'm SO EXCITED about being an RA! I was pissed when I didn't get hired and was placed on the alternate waiting list. So I figured I had to be more proactive about the situation. At first, I really didn't want to go talk to any hall coordinators because I was being lazy, but Priscilla prompted me to go. First, I talked to the HC in San Jac, but not much happened. Then, I went to the Honors Quad and talked with the HC, Spencer. I offered to show him my program, and he was really receptive. He asked me a few questions/mini-interviewed me. He was really impressed with my program and told me that I couldn't have come at a better time because he was actually looking for a female RA. So he said that he'd walk down to the main office and look at my file and if everything was in order, he'd hire me that night. I was like freaking out inside! So just one-two hours later he called me on my cell and offered me the position!! YAY!

However, there are pros and cons to being an RA. It's REALLY TIME INTENSIVE to be an RA. You have make nametags monthly, put on programs, be on-call, go to mandatory weekly meetings, deal with and clean up people's crap etc. Also, since I'm going to be an RA, I don't know if I'll have time to pledge DSP, Delta Sigma Pi, the co-ed business fraternity I DPed because of APO, Alpha Phi Omega. AND, I also HATE the location of where I'm going to RA at. It's so IRONIC! Teresa lived in Kinsolving and Charlene in Andrews. Now they're living in Moore-Hill, which is right across from where I lived (in Roberts). Everyone lives in Jester, Moore-Hill, San Jac, and Dobie which are on 21st. Now, I'm in Blanton at 24th and Whitis! ACK! No one's over there! Plus, the b-school and UTC, where all my classes are, are right on 21st! Can you see how annoyed I am?! Oh well, it's a job, and good one at that, too. Pretty much free room and board. I get to help people out, and it's also a great resume builder.

I was talking to Ling about next semester, and she thinks that I should chill out a bit. I'll probably take 12 hrs, RA, and hang out with lovely friends. Spring 2007, however, is fair game. I think I'll either pledge DSP (if I haven't already) and/or become a PCM (peer career mentor). Basically, you work with mainly freshman in their first business administration class. You get paid and can also NETWORK really well with the Ford Career Library. Aiya, there are just SO MANY things to do!

I'm waiting for a response on my BHP application. I applied on my birthday (go figure!), and I hear back on July 1 (Amanda, my best friend's birthday)! If I don't effing get in, I'm going to be so incredibly PISSED!!! I will seriously contest the decision. And if it's because of my one B, I will literally break down the doors to my bio teacher's office. UGH.

Anyways, I can honestly say that I'm SO HAPPY with life right now. It's been a great semester, and I only see things getting better from here on out! No more crappy semesters! No more broken thumbs, hearts, or wills! NO MORE TAKING ANY CRAP!

To conclude, I thought I'd end with all these pics from my life which span about a year and a half: ENJOY!!
