Tuesday, June 17 Popsicles on a summer day . . . MUST be eaten outdoors!
Claire grilling Vidalia onions in the rain. Notice that she is smiling. We need rain so badly that we just want to go out and dance in it. (Actually it only lasted five minutes and the sun shone the whole time. )
Wednesday, June 18 Julian devouring mustard pickles, a family tradition handed down for many generations.
Thursday, June 19 Glen and I went out for supper with our friends George and Kaye. (Sorry about the steam but it sure smelled good!)
We ate at a Japanese steakhouse where they entertained us with an energetic cooking show. So fun!
Friday, June 20 A friend gave us some sweet corn which was a real treat considering the present state of our garden!
Mikayla makes sure no cake batter gets wasted.
Saturday, June 21 We were invited to the wedding of my cousin Laura S. to Sheldon K.
We were very grateful to have my 102-year-old Grandmother Vera come down for the wedding. I wish so much that my parents could have been there to make this 5 generation picture with Tina and Brock complete!
That evening Gabriel put on his scuba gear and took a dive into Curtises' pond to release the drain valve. They are draining the pond so they can clean it and make it bigger.
Waiting downstream for the water to come draining from the pond. Here it comes!
Sunday, June 22 We were happy to host my cousin Barton R., his wife Amy, and two boys, Frederick and Blake for the weekend.
Claire was happy to host her friend Melanie S.
One popular uncle with his popular bike!
Our adorable little neighbor boy, KeShawn, showing off his adorable little poodle puppy, Sambo.
Monday, June 23 We were invited to a picnic down by Curtises' pond (or rather, what's left of it!)
The reason for gathering was to collect the fish left in the pond. You can see the crowd gathered on the bank and the fishermen wading around in the muck with their nets. Diane and Loren posted pics of this event too.
Uncle Gabe, what dirty feet you have!
They hauled in several of these 50 lb. grass carp! The thrashing and splashing was pretty exciting there for awhile.
Gabriel thinking about mounting a trophy?
Adrian definitely thinking about mounting a trophy! He was very proud to help carry the fish, although he did drop it a few times when it wiggled.
This is what most of the guys looked like when they finished.
Tuesday, June 24 Julian and Glen replacing the tractor window that broke in the accident with the car several weeks ago.
Wednesday, June 25 This picture is priceless! We had so carefully arranged the dominoes so Giles could have the privilege of knocking them down. Just as he was pushing the first one over, Glen accidentally bumped the table and Bethany snapped this photo of our reactions!
Thursday, June 26 A big, juicy black raincloud blew in, so Justus, Bethany and Julian went outside to watch it rain. They did feel a few sprinkles while they were sitting there, but sad to say, the sun kept right on shining and that weird, magnetic force just sucked that raincloud away to the south of us.
That night it DID rain HARD . . . but only for a few minutes. We got 1/10" and we're thankful for every drop.
Friday, June 27 Bethany and Halee making oatmeal cookies
Saturday, June 28 Our neighbor's dryland corn - ouch! (You can see his irrigated crop in the background.)
"Mr. Fixit" Glen being the neighborhood handyman for the neighbor next door.
Sunday, June 29 Bethany enjoying the day of rest.
Monday, June 30 Happy Birthday, dear Julia! I hope you're enjoying that big trip out west! As a little cutie . . . (This picture reminds me of Quinten)
As a high school senior . . .
As a Grandma . . .
The girls went out to eat with their cousins, Naomi Y. and Susanna B. (Claire was taking the picture.)
