After last night, I came to the realization that I'm a little gay. Well at least bisexual since I'm in a relationship with a cool gal by the name of Kelly. But ... when Matt Braeuer hit the game winning, buzzer beating, three-pointer in OT...I'm 100% sure I could have kissed him. He's what I like to call a "badass."
Nick G. probably knows what I'm talking about. We have been known to uncontrollably hug (ie Florida State) on occasion when the Shockers kick some tail. Then again, Nick and me are always all over each other. At least that's what I like to think.
Anyways ... my dad just informed me that he has purchased two tickets to the MVC Tournament in St. Louis. So looks like I'll be in St. Louis from March 3-5 rooting on my Shocks. I cannot wait. It's nice to have a father as into the Shockers as I am.
To basically sum this all up, Shocker's basketball makes me want to kiss and hug other men but I'm perfectly okay with that. Um. ... Go Shockers!
This is not about love 'Cause I am not in love In fact I can't stop falling out I miss that stupid ache

| "The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But the man who loves God is known by God." 1 Corinthians 8:2-3
"Life is one big road with lots of sings. So when you riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake up and live." Bob Marley
"Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips." Proverbs 27:2
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important that facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than apperance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our attitudes." Charles R. Swindoll
"Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me -- put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:9
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you lived and lived well." Ralph Waldo Emerson
"To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me." Psalms 25:1-2
"You have to get past that keeping-up-with-the-times stuff. It's not
about keeping up with the times, being a poet from the Eighties,
rock'n'roller for the Nineties, you don't want to get trapped... you
have to learn about it all and call it up when you need it. The old
trades are still the most useful, can get you out of a jam. Everything
is crooked now and the signs all point the wrong way -- its like we're
living at the time of the Tower of Babel; all our tongues are confused.
We're building a tower to Venus. Where the hell is that? The Bible says
'Even a fool when he keeps his mouth shut is counted wise,' but it
comes from the Bible so it can be cast off as being too "religious."
Make something religious and people don't have to deal with it, they
can say it's irrelevant. "Repent, the Kingdom of God is at hand.' That
scares the shit ouf of people. They'd like to avoid that. Tell that to
someone and you become their enemy.
There does come a time,
though, when you have to face facts and the truth is true whether you
wanna believe it or not; it doesn't need you to make it true... That
lie about everybody having their own truth inside of them has done a
lot of damage and made people crazy. Did you ever hear that to conquer
your enemy, you must repent first, fall down on your knees and beg for
mercy? Does West Point teach that? I don't know, but I do know that God
hates a proud look. It's a messy situation.
People are just
parading around in disguises, wearing faces that don't let you know
what they think... I'll tell you this much, when you tell somebody your
dreams and hopes you better make sure they love you like a brother or
your dreams and hopes probably wont' come true... You got to be
somewhat superstitious to survive.
People like to talk about
the new image of America, but to me it's still the old one -- Marlon
Brando, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe; it's not computers, cocaine and
David Letterman. We gotta get off that -- Hedy Lamarr, Dorothy
Dandridge... that's my idea of America, and who's improved on it? Some
phoney imaginary soldier can kill a hundred thousand people in a
foreign country of his own mind but it's a fantasy and it doesn't
stick. People, if they had a choice, would still want to be Rhett
Butler.
Maybe in the Nineties or possibly in the next century
people will look upon the Eighties as the age of masturbation, when
everything was taken to the limit. That might be all that's going on
right now in a big way... I like to keep my values scripturally
straight though. I like to stay a part of that stuff that don't change.
Actually, its not that difficult -- people still love and they still
hate, they still marry and have children, still slaves in their minds
to their desires, still slap each other in the face and say 'Honey, can
you turn off the light' just like in ancient Greece. What's changed?
When did Abraham break his father's idols? I think it was last Tuesday.
God is still the judge and the devil still rules the world so what's
different? No matter how big you think you are history is gonna roll
over you. Sound like a preacher, don't I? To the aspiring songwriter
and singer, I say disregard all the current stuff -- forget it, you're
better off. Read John Keats, Melville. Listen to Robert Johnson and
Woody Guthrie. Movies too. I've seen hundreds of them, but how many
stay with you? Shane, Red River, On the Waterfront, Freaks... Maybe a handful of others.... I just saw one the other night. As soon
as it was over I couldn't remember a thing about it..... seemed real
important at the time though." Bob Dylan
Amen...Amen.

| Good evening, Xanga.
Sorry I've been neglecting you recently, I have what us cool kids like to call a life. You understand though, right? Okay, cool.
How has everybody been doing? Manhattan has been a little on the chilly side, other than that I have no complaints. I'm taking 16 hours this semester, but some how it feels like I'm taking even less than I was last semester. Waking up at 9:30 everyday and only going to two classes a day is quite the improvement from my previous semester...or even high school. (Am I allowed to even mention high school anymore?)
Last weekend was fun. Jason, Derek, Anne, Kelly, and me all made our way up to Lawrence to visit some old friends. Although I didn't even get to see Lagaly due to transportation problems. Luckily I'm going back to KU in a couple weeks so I should be able to see everybody I missed.
Sorry my update is a little short, I have to read about a French sociologist by the name of Emilie Durkheim. Due to my short entry, I'll leave you guys with a picture of last weekend. Maybe I'll update a little more sometime, maybe not.

Remember the weight of the world It's a sound that we used to buy On cassette and 45 And now this little girl She says we will make it all 800 miles is a drive
